I've been a flight attendant for 3 different airlines (2 went out if business) for the past 35 years. The last 18 1/2 have been with the same major US carrier. I am helping a friend prepare for the video interview and we came across this youtube video. I just want to give you kudos. Not only for the great job and tips in making the video, but in getting the face to face and the job. I've done F/A recruitment in the past, and I would hire you in a heartbeat! I just hope that the airline that is hiring you is mine! Best of luck at training, and I hope to see you on the line. Brian

Congratulations on your CJO, Laly! Best of luck with everything! A lot of good tips here--I recently bought a red lip cream, but because I've never used bright red lip colors, I'm not confident enough to rock it yet. It never even occurred to me to look for tips on wearing red lipstick, so thanks for that! I'm gonna check out some vids for that now. Omg, lol on studying the airport codes even way before training because that's exactly what I'm doing right now! I'm utilizing Quizlet and contemplating whether or not I should make physical flash cards, but nevertheless, I'm getting a head start on those codes, too!

@@ticoman12 no :/ ..that was weird!!! RU-vid wasn't helpful!!! Bcuz as I started to interview..o saw there are six steps interviews consistently that nobody talks interview questions!!!! So I wasn't ready to answer and I failed...just everyone talks about how you should be make up and introduce yourself but it's just one part of online interviews..so all things in RU-vid is useless!!!! I'm so mad of it bcuz I lost my chance!

Hi Leslie, your video has inspired me. I applied for a major airline for a flight attendant position. I did the one-way video interview and now they have requested a phone interview which I will be doing soon! I'm a little nervous but I watched your videos online to prepare me with the S.T.A.R. module and also to remain positive and knowledgeable. Please wish me good luck for them to consider me for an in-person interview. I've prepared so much and still preparing. My goals are to be as natural as I can but yet professional and pleasant. Would you have additional tips for me at this time going forward? Looking forward to hearing from you soon! Thanks, Ceejay
@LifeWithLaly

Cee Jay hello :) I’m sure you will do great especially if you did your research! Just show them your personality and who you are! Just imagine how they would want you to treat their customers. Show them you have the skills they’re looking for! I made a video on that, it could help with your f2f. Best of luck!!!

Hi Leslie, So some relatively good news. So I passed my phone interview this past weekend, and I have been asked to attend what I might consider to be the final round of interviews. I have been asked to participate in a group interview/f2f. I would like to especially thank you for your online videos and kind works of encouragement and insightful tips. I am going to need all the prayers, well wishes, good luck, more confidence, research of course. lol and smiles to pass this final round. Could you possibly send me the link to the video which you mentioned on showcasing your skills in my group/f2f interview? I am super excited, I'm almost there but not quite there yet. Thanks again, and I am looking forward to hearing from you soon! Ceejay

Cee Jay I keep hearing good news from everyone! I’m so happy to hear you’ve been invited to the f2f!! Stay positive, remain lifted, and believe in yourself! You’re doing everything you can to make this happen and when it finally does, you’re going to feel so proud of yourself. Thank you for the kind words. It warms my heart to hear this. And remember take everything one step at a time. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XojrrNspgcM.html The video is called 2017 flight attendant resume guide.

I was very fidgety and messed up my words but I feel like i answered the questions well I just messed up some of the and by messed up I mean I repeated some of them like I will answer the question but one word I would have to reword it will I get disqualified for messing up some of my words per question because I was super nervous even though I practiced my questions like literally all the time
@LifeWithLaly
@LifeWithLaly 3 года назад
Hello! To be completely honest, I think if you answered the questions and maintained your composure, you still have a good chance! I can’t remember if I mentioned in the video about my mess up during the interview. I had a major glitch on the second to last question I was asked. I didn’t even finish answering when my entire computer shut down!! Can you believe it?! I have no clue why or how it happened and of course it had to happen in the worst moment ever! I quickly rebooted my computer, re-entered the link, and it skipped that question all together! My heart was racing. I dove right into the last question, but I gave it my all and kept on smiling even though I was devastated inside! Remain positive, don’t think about it too much. I like to think composure helps a lot especially since flight attendants are essentially always on the spotlight. :) Good Luck!
@prettytee9856

Hi there :) Any questions that helped prepare me and my answers were found through google searches. I looked up every possible question I could get asked in a regular interview and a flight attendant based interview and I wrote down my answers to all of them. Doing this helps gather all your thoughts. It’s a lot of work, but worth it in the end.

Thanx for sharing all the tips but something is still inclear. So somehow it turns out that a video interview is one thing, and a LIVE video interview is another? I mean, at a video interview you are asked some typical questions by...who? a robot? do the questions just appear on the screen or what? and does that mean that only after you've passed your video interview that you can be offered a real video interview with a real human recruiter? I don't really get how it all works.
@LifeWithLaly
@LifeWithLaly 2 года назад
Hello :) You are correct. The video interview is one interview. The In-person interview is another. Depending on the airline you are going for, prepare to possibly do a phone interview as well. Airlines usually change up the methods, but preparations for these interviews are generally the same. My video interview was done through a link. A question would pop up on my screen and after a countdown, I was being recorded on a timer. Then, it proceeded to the next question. The hiring process usually involves a personality test followed by several interviews. You only proceed to the next interview if you pass the previous one as a possible candidate. My in-person interview was a group interview. The group interview is where you will have all eyes on you. :) I hope this cleared up your questions!

hello there! thank you so much for the video... i just got the invitation for a video interview yesterday! I am so excited! I just have a couple of questions I would like you to help me with: can I wait a few days (lets say 4 days) since I got the invitation to do the interview? my other queation is: would being short be a limitation to get the job? I am 5" and don't know if that would be a problem. Thank you!!! good luck!
@LifeWithLaly
@LifeWithLaly 6 лет назад
Cruz Hello! :) Thank you for watching! Double check and make sure the link doesn’t expire before you have the chance to do the interview! See when the last day you have to do it is, and do it way before then! Take a day to practice questions in a mirror over and over again and then just go for it! I made mistakes during my video interview so try to calm any nerves and smile! Also, the height requirement is different from airline to airline. Normally on the requirements page of the job description, they will list all requirements which would include the height reach test. I wish you the best of luck!

Why is it relevant for all these specific things for appearances.
@LifeWithLaly
@LifeWithLaly 6 лет назад
maythebassbewithyou Here’s my thought on it, think of it as “making a first impression”. If they see the effort you took in appearances and you make a lasting impression, this could help them visualize you representing their company and brand! As flight attendants, we interact with hundreds of their customers daily. Wouldn’t you want to find someone who represents the brand well? :)

Hi Lady! How are you? I love your video. Your tips are great, thank you! I have a question. I have a small tattoo in my wrist. As far as I know that might be a big issue. How are the American airlines companies are dealing with it? Is it okay cover up? I think I already know the answer, but... Thanks! I hope you are enjoying your new life!
@LifeWithLaly
@LifeWithLaly 7 лет назад
Paloma Soares I don’t know much over this :( I only overheard from friends that people were turned away for tattoos in more visible areas whereas tattoos on areas like the chest or back or arms were okay so long as they were always hidden by clothing at all times and they were upfront about the tattoos from the beginning. I don’t know how true this is, but I really couldn’t give you a solid answer because ultimately it’s up to the airlines whether or not your tattoos are acceptable and they can change at any time. :( I’ve never seen a flight attendant with a tattoo in uniform though.

I applied for delta on sunday and got an email for a video interview 10 minutes later. The email said I could take my time to take the video interview but a lot of videos on RU-vid said it's best to do the interview right away. So I did the video interview yesterday. How long till I hear back? Anybody know
@LifeWithLaly
@LifeWithLaly 4 года назад
Jess Jess Take a day or two to practice your answers in the mirror or with a friend until you’ve repeated your answers enough to know how you would answer. Then take it as soon as possible. But remember only take it once you feel ready and prepared! Seniority is everything on the job hahah you’ll want to get in quick! As far as wait time....it’s a long game of patience. Good luck on your interview!! Hope this video helps! I hear they’re hiring thousands 🤯

I’m currently helping my mom prepare for the video interview. Is the video interview “face to face” with someone through video chatting? If not how does it go? Because she’s currently sick right now and not able to video chat for the interview. Also, is there a way to postpone it? If anyone could write back to me, that’d be great thank you
@LifeWithLaly
@LifeWithLaly 5 лет назад
I'm sorry Maria, I sometimes do not get notifications on some of the comments I receive. It seems this one has slipped through the cracks :( The video interview I took was not face to face with a person, it was a recording of me answering questions displayed on a screen. I believe you can chat with whoever is handling your interview process to try and postpone an interview due to sickness. Again, I'm so sorry I am just now seeing this. I hope this helps someone out there.

@LifeWithLaly
@LifeWithLaly 7 лет назад
Surprisingly, my airline did not tell us to study the airport codes, but I know it varies with every airline! I fully planned on studying them until someone mentioned we wouldn't be focusing on them. Instead, the safety aspect of the job was the primary focus. They're good to know though! Plus, they could always change it up for the next training class. My biggest advice would be to take it one step at a time. :)

such a great video! I feel nervous just watching it haha. I have a question for you. Are you sure of getting the job when they invite you for a face to face? Because right now I live in Holland and I want to apply for the job bilangual. (english and dutch) at american airlines. BUT, if they invite me over that means I have to pay 600 dollars for a plane ticket just for an interview. The tips in this video are really good thanks!
@LifeWithLaly
@LifeWithLaly 7 лет назад
My friend actually lived in Holland and she gave our airline her San Fransisco address where she temporarily stayed. Not entirely sure how she made that work, but I know my airline was in need of Dutch speakers at the time. I don't believe there are openings right now. I don't remember hearing about any positions being opened. Keep applying to every airline that needs Dutch speakers! I didn't know until the very end of the face to face interview that I had gotten the job. I just kept telling myself I'm a great person for this job and I was at some point going to get this job. It's such a long process to go through, but 100% worth it in the end IF you know exactly what to expect with this job and the lifestyle change. Some people have already quit because they weren't ready for the transition. My airline flew candidates in for their face to face, but being out of the country, it's a lot riskier not knowing if you'll even get the job. I can only say if its a job you really want, figure out a way around it just to see what the interview is like. If you don't get it, at least you know what to expect for when you try again!

LifeWithLaly wow thanks for taking the time to write be back so fast! Maybe I'll just apply and send then an email later on. I can always ask what the alternatives are (if there even are any).
