This is a showcase/ review of Carenado's new PA-28R Arrow III for Microsoft flight simulator. Its a great new aircraft for flight simulator! I'm impressed with even the dents on the door, great detail and flight model for a simulator!

JustFlight have released another update today and have included MSFS checklists, including both manual and auto co-pilot modes

Orbx are taking the Flight Sim Community for a bunch of fools. I bought the London scenery pack and Dublin and couldn't believe how poor the scenery was. Stay clear of Orbx their not in the same league as the other scenery builders including the great freeware programmers, they are selling us old FSX Hash. Thanks Gripper for your usual honest below the belt opinions, because that attitude shakes the likes of Orbx into realising if they are to lazy to produce the quality, then there are many out there who will kick them out of the sim.

Yes OrbX do seem to be really bad for this with MSFS 2020 if no one calls them out on selling substandard "upgrades" then they will keep on doing it. Hopefully they will learn the lesson very quickly!

As I was just saying to my wife, I give much more weight to your opinions than other flight simming RU-vidrs because you are a pilot/instructor.

And he's an honest reviewer and means what he says and would say what a true simmer would say. Not what the developers want to hear. Though he does praise when its earned. I agree. WAY too many ports from old SIMS not using the new fangled eye candy and features.
@nemisis_wolf
@nemisis_wolf 3 года назад
@@casstephens3124 Totally agree here there are tutorials on how to port stuff over by yourself for free if you want to. Why would i pay for a port from a graphically substandard sim to MSFS??? If i'm paying anyone for an updated airport or cityscape for MSFS i'd expect it to be up to the same Graphical standard as the rest of the sim not dragging it backward 10 or 15 years in looks!

I don't know how hard it is to include the in-game check lists, but as soon as the Mooney, and the semihole came out I was able to download a checklist mod. All payware aircraft should include it. I don't by the excuse it is the SDK. Thanks for your continued effort to include this as part of your review.

I’ve been simming since Psion Flight Simulator on the ZX Spectrum 1984 (also ex Military Rotary and now 737-800 pilot). I find it increasingly disgusting how ORBX and other companies are just porting their old Sceneries from P3d and FSX to MSFS and expecting people to pay again for the privilege. Worst still are the number of reviewers, both amateur and professional, that just idolise ORBX and won’t mention a thing. Thank God for those honest influencers like GripperSim that tells it as it is. This needs to be reported more to these software companies that our cash needs to be earned. Thanks Gripper for the great videos! Keeping me sane whilst flying is lean at the moment.

Great vids Gripper, and I see no reason why you should stop calling out rubbish scenery. Power to you.

I like very much to hear the negatives along with the positives. The full picture in a review is far more helpful so, please, keep telling us the full story - we don't want echo chambers where reviewers just tell us the highlights. I enjoy your reviews and salute you for what you do.

Agree about Orbx sceneries. There are freeware sceneries out there that use Blender, have more accuracy and look far better. The P3d version of this actually has an animated dog walker, whereas here he's a cardboard cut out! You mentioned the CRJ, first airliner with no "INOP" buttons, but is the flight deck PBR? Very enjoyable review!

I really enjoy your channel and your in depth knowledge about flying and how the sim works. I totally love flying the Carenado PA28. The Skypark have opened up a range of missions just for the PA28 also!

Grip, about the Interactive Checklists... In my opinion, they're a great integrated feature of MSFS, so every developer should include them. So, I guess I'm saying you're too soft on them!

Great video and editing. Appreciate your honesty with Devs porting older content. I would hate to pay (again) for the same airport for MSFS2020. It makes all the difference when you fly out of an airport that has obviously had a lot of time and love spent on it. While I like how Carenado aircraft look, they have never flown realistically in previous sims, so it's great to hear that this PA-28R is better. Subbed.

Another honest review of what will be a popular plane in this sim. With more to come no doubt, Personally working MSFS checklist for this type of plane are not a big loss or gain as they are reasonably easy to get set up and running and that's my opinion as a noob to commercial flight sims with the more complex jets then yes a fully working Checklist is great to learn that start up procedure but not in the small stuff like this. But if it is shown that others are doing it with out much of a problem then yes they need to be given a quick word in their ear!

I was looking at getting either orbx stapleford or pilot plus Oxford. But after your honesty and points raised, I think I’ll skip this and go for the Oxford one!

You sure did grease that landing! Ah yes, not forgetting you should be pretty good at it ;-) I learnt in Pipers - Tomahawk, P28 (non retractable gears), C152 and others. The good old days when I did some hours of learning (120 hrs or so). Like your vids and humour, even in your angry moments lol

Thanks for doing this video Gripper, I really wanted a comparison of the two, excellent, this really helped. I think I'm going to go with the JustFlight though, I know it's more expensive, but it seems more detailed and realistic, and I really liked how they modeled the circuit breakers . Carenado's is more modern, but I like to sport the red retro interior

Pretty much the same reasons I wanted JustFlight's as well. I wanted an old school model with no GPS at all. I'm probably weird in still liking to navigate by VORs and NDBs.
@michael2782
@michael2782 3 года назад
@@JohnMichaelson The JF does have three navigation systems options: A plain GPS (where GPS did not exist in 1978) which replicates the Northstar Loran that I had in my Arrow - gets very close to reality, a Garmin 430 and a Garmin 530. I just downloaded the third revision of the JF Arrow III today and am looking forward to see if they fixed the autopilot.

I enjoy your gripes about payware, you make the mistakes so we don't have to! I don't think I've flown a PA28 with a working AP though, that's pretty unrealistic!

I was wondering, is your tutorial series finished? Unless you had other plans some more tutorials might be nice when Flight Simulator releases for Xbox in the summer. Lot's of amateurs like me joining the community at that point ;) Still you're choice though.

Does KMNN have buildings yet? I was very disappointed to see an airport with two runways, that I used in real life, have NO buildings at the airport. RE: Arrow III, I flew one as part of my commercial flight training in 1978 or '79, didn't look in my log book to see what year I completed the course. Does changing the mixture actually do anything? I was very disappointed when the Piper Seminole mixture stopped working after an update in MSFS 2020.

Colin looks like he was the guy in the Dire Straights video "Money for Nothing" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wTP2RUD_cL0.html (which could also be appropriate if you paid for a new item for MSFS and instead, have ended up with a cheap port...). Great vid Gripper, keep-em coming!
