I try out Kinetic Assistant+ (which is the payware version - Kinetic Assistant is a freeware option) with the freeware DG-808 and, after a few bad starts, manage to go from Sion to Geneva in an hour-long flight.

Nice job, mate. Read up on flap settings on the 33, 808 and Discus for better results. Altitude of hotspot top is adjustable. Bird # and size is configurable. Find them at top of thermal.

Excellent job. Gliding Is peaceful when done well. Stressful at times no doubt.

Seems promising, but I think I'll stick with Condor 2 for now!

Apparently X-Plane 12 will link the thermals to the weather properly, so that might eventually be another option.

Is the TowPlane only availaible for the payware version ?

No, but it looks like they only include two options instead of five for the free version, and there's no animated tow rope. You can see the comparison on a chart on this page: msfs.touching.cloud/mods/kinetic-assistant/

No - I have not had the pleasure of flying a real plane at all.
