So glad to see a Honda jet owner making regular videos. As someone who has been obsessed with it since release, as well as someone who owned nothing but Hondas for 20 years I have a spot for the Honda jet for sure. I too am flying it in flight simulator and am almost to 40 hours in it so far. Looking forward to what things I can take away to improve my flying knowledge for the Hondajet as well as watching your adventures!

Great new channel! If you're building a whole setup, a good surround audio recording from inside the cockpit would be an awesome addition. You could mix it in to your voice audio in post. There's another aviation channel called Skylight Productions that records commercial flights. The near-perfect sound recording in his videos is one of the biggest appeals of his channel.

Great content, love to see another aviation channel. I can't imagine losing your autopilot and having to hand fly for 90 minutes, especially from FL 410. I'd have a few choice words with Honda, especially after the bill I know they gave you to "fix" the pitch trim issue. Keep up the good work and we'll all be patient while you work out your video bugs. With guys like Greg helping you'll be a success here. The only thing as good as flying is watching an accomplished pilot fly, and listening to the interaction with ATC. I rarely walk away from a good video without getting something useful from it. I can tell you've got it wired tight, no wonder you were The Six.
@bluemaxsix

I appreciate the feedback. I love hand flyng so no complaints there, except systems failing when their not supposed to. Take a look at the AOA,I was "handed a jet" that was really close to the critical angle.The challenge is landing since you have to work throttles and pitch trim with the same hand. As far as flyng with Blue Max goes, it was the most talented group of aviators I've ever seen. I was just grateful to be there. I may have been their commander but I was the one soaking up the experience.

The CFII that took me through both my Private and Instrument Checkride was also an AI and an A&P mechanic. In his early days back in the 1950s and into the 1960s he was part of a flight crew that flew some business executives around the world. He stopped doing this in the late 1970s and bought out a local FBO and started his business as well as buying a Cessna 152 and started a flight school. One day while still a student pilot I had the 152 reserved but the weather was not VFR so I did not fly that day. I had just soloed about a month before. So I walked out into the hangar and spoke to him as he did some work on an airplane. I don't remember why but during one of those hanger discussions he told us of something that happened to him in what I remember was a Cessna Citation. He said they had left some airport in Tennessee and headed west. Not long after departure, George failed. I don't remember when that over 28,000 feet mandatory use of George started, but he did say they circled and returned. I do have one question. Having to leave FL 43 did it add any time or extra fuel used?
@bluemaxsix
@bluemaxsix Год назад
I had to go back and see which video you were talking about! So I typically go as high as possible to 1) ensure I'm over wx and 2) to save fuel. So going lower doesn't change my time much put it changes my fuel considerably. On this flight, I also had to descend into convective so it was busy. The smart choice would haven been to stay above FL410 where there's no A/P required. RVSM (reduces vertical separation minimums) airspace requires the plane to be certified, the pilot to be certified, and the autopilot must be used.

I flew my little Experimental Amateur Built airplane a lot of times into and out of Chesterfield. 15 looks really familiar. Oh, as an Ex-Avionics type, I would LOVE to troubleshoot that pitch trim. Can't be that difficult, especially if all of the servos have been changed and the "Parts cannon has been fired." :-) Like some other commenters: That jet stops fast. :-) Must have some big "binders" on it.

@mmichaeldonavon
@mmichaeldonavon Год назад
: Blue Max Six: My little plane, an EROS Minimax, N6395T, was a "never exceed" 110mph.puddle jumper. :-) Had a solid cruise at 80mph. :-) Usually it was in Florida, at KCOI, Merritt Island, or at x59, Valkaria air field. It's retired now - flew it for over 13 years, and +750 hrs. I no longer fly - had over 40 years of great fun. Was a fun flyer, but my favorite was the Piper Arrow - that was until the wings began falling off. :-) Not sure what their status is now. I love your jet. Your "single pilot" operation keeps you jumping. :-) Wonderful machine and you deftly fly it. Spent many a year working the old C-141B's - now in the Davis-Monthan bone yard, there in Tucson. Lots of super Avionics was installed on them. But your avionics is "over the top." Loved your video - you are a super flyer. Still would like a shot at that pitch trim. :-)

Great video! I'm wondering if this specific systems failure is one that's included in the syllabus for any of the simulator training you've done in this jet. Given the number of consequences that loss of pitch trim has I'm guessing it is, but hand flying a jet for this length of time in the flight levels is no joke. And you weren't kidding about the stopping power...almost like you had a tailhook down ;).

Thanks Tim. You had your work cut out on approach - just as well familiar territory hey! Hardly catastrophic failure tho. Like your take-off brief, often skipped by GA, but are you somewhat cavalier about t/off checks - or was that deleted from recording? In fact the LESS a passenger DOES and the more they use their eyes OUTSIDE, the safer will be the outcome IMHO. We had an aircraft hand-started here in Sydney that took off unpiloted and headed out to sea - airforce shot it down... eventually. Agree?
