28:08 is exactly why I want these stands. When I heard that they would have magnets on the top I too thought about the versatility of removing the fighters from the stands to place on carriers. So glad you pointed that out and showed it in the video. Love your idea of different heights for fighters and bombers. Wonder if 3 heights would be too much? (One different height for each fighter/TCB/STRB).
Yes that would be cool. I had thought about chopping the tac stands a little but it would be a lot more work and the results were already very good with the 2 heights.
My OCD of course will have to kick in. When my airplanes are on thr carriers they will not be on their flight stands. But , as soon as they take off and go airborne they will right away go on their flight stands. Like your self I also agree on the idea that flight stands give your game a sense of depth introducing another dimension to the board. Wartorn hit a home run with this one....!
P-38 "lightning"s Magnetic paint would work well for those, a coat of that along the bottom of the odd-shaped planes will work well with the rare-earth neomodium magnets. Just another option. Siredblood and Dtroy used magnetic paint on their planes and or carriers. Great vid General! Good tip marking the one side of the magnet.
Thanks for making the time to show us these flight stands. When you were talking about scraping some material of with a knife, I was wondering.... how’s the finger?
I'm hoping my copy comes in today. I have never played it before so I can't give you an informed opinion yet. It would also depend on how much disposable income you have too. If you're broke it's never a good idea.
Those are cool, but I am not redoing my stands. You really need a drill press, that is the tool that keep my sanity in check when I mounted my planes. His quality is better than mine, but my price point is lower on my DIY flight stands.
22:45 is exactly why we did them like this. Those planes on the US carriers right in front, paints the perfect picture. Those 3 TAC's almost look like they are floating. $1.00 per stand was the cheapest we could get it with the labour and material cost, but we are still hoping for free shipping! Keep your fingers crossed. You can avoid the polarity issues by taking a bit more time, but it is a trade off. We might be able provide the depth with different sized pegs if requested. Thanks for the shout out GHG! Hope they turned out to be more than expected.
