Showing the steps I went through to create my magnetized flight stands. My main goal was to make sure the footprint of my flight stands was as small as possible. I think my goal has been achieved. Using a few brain cells, I managed to figure out a pretty neat way to have one flight stand with many fighters attached. Hope you enjoy this video.

Thanks PC! Been thinking about you as I have been doing these magnets...Being the last phase before I begin the painting process. Need to go order me some of that weathering stuff you use. Will have to go to your video to get the different flavors

I had this game during the 80s..we absolutely loved it. I like the newer updates and ur ideas. I forgot all about it. I def conquered more than i was defeated

Yah same here on having the game during the 80s. Reviving it turned into MANY new hobbies that I really enjoy.

Nicely done. Yeah, the bases can be as small as the magnet, no need even for a base except to hold to the magnet. Thought about drilling into the magnet but not viable. Also have not found tiny cylinder magnets, just 1/4 inch ones and they are too strong and the wires do not stand up straight inside the tube part of the magnet. Some may ask, why not just use a cylinder and drill holes but it is easier to use a tube than try to drill into the tiny base. I kinda like being able to put the roundel sticker on the bases for country specific stands and for ID, but the small footprint is definitely a plus. I will have to try the magnetless top using the bent wire base for the planes to stick, but the top magnet attach for the planes does prevent planes from getting easily bumped off, etc. If there is only a way to mass produce. Considered China, 3D print...can't think of anything as of yet. You can paint the white tubes as desired too to help blend in (like a tan to match your map)...oops you just said that..lol. I have though about adding some magnetic flags that one could attach to the vertical wire to identify but have not had time to explore. I am working on something (in my head) for a twist on the idea for some of the tech advances...if ever stop playing other games and break out the tool kit again....

Hey Moffett.... yah the smaller magnets are just enough stick whereas those bigger ones are way too much. The bent wire thing irks really nice for single stands but once you get more than one then taking one off moves the others orientation so that’s when I had to break out the 2x1 mm magnets. They stick to the platform nicely and the plane peels off easily and the other plans stay in place. I haven’t played a game yet with them so will look forward to that to see if they are cumbersome or not. Will fix as I go

Thanks Panzer King.... I have fine tuned them since that video and they are pretty solid now on my table. I have a game coming up with Pagan, Gi Joe, Siredblood and Wildcat in January to try them out. I have been working hard to get things painted and customized. Has been quite the process but I am lovin it!

I have since painted the white styrene bases to be a cream color so that the blend in with my map so that the white isn’t so prominent
