Finally someone showed exactly how to set up platforms by ahowing the direction of smaller flakes. Thanks man. Ive been struggling with thinning spalls.

Abrading strengthens the platform or point of contact area where the billet will strike so that it does not collapse. When using hammerstones or copper billets, abrade more. When using antler or wood billets abrade less. Hope this helps....

I usually knapp a couple hours a day, but it varies a lot. Somedays I might spend the whole day knapping, When I have projects to catch up on I have to cut back on the knapping! It can be addictive!...jim
