Performance tested with 560.70 gameready Flintlock drivers as well as prior drivers for fps tests.
Flintlock made by A44 games is a mix of Dark Souls, Banishers, Elex, even a bit of DMC, and yet can't get its own feet under itself at any time. Nor as a protagonist gives it a try but even with the help of the more charismatic Enki, it just never hits.

Some of my biggest gaming disappointments of recent years had as I have learned a few weeks ago one thing in common: Sweet Baby Inc. I pre-ordered this game but when I learned Sweet Baby Inc. worked with the devs I cancelled the pre-order. After watching your review I think it was the right call.

I was very excited for it. Got the demo during next fest and immediately realized it wasn't for me. I was hoping for a French God Fighting Bloodborne and I'm not really sure what it even is.

Who thought that yellow outfit was a good idea? Pair that with the brown shoulder pauldron and boots and the woman looks like a bruised banana hopping around. Games today sure love giving the player hideous clothes. First it was those ugly ponchos in Jedi Fallen Order, now it's banana jumpsuits.

I'm playing this on PC Game Pass but the performance issues are pretty easy to fix. By default, the game sets shadows to Ultra and has NVIDIA Reflex turned on. Turn shadows down to high (which halves the GPU load), turn NVIDIA Reflex off and turn either DLSS or XeSS on. After doing that the only time the games stutters is when loading in a new area.

So, Ashen wasn't as successful as it could have been. The Social Media Manager gave out a bunch of free codes to extremely small RU-vidrs (my old channel included) and presumably got fired for basically giving away copies to the fanbase. I'd have to imagine they lost a lot of the Ashen devs in the process of not being super successful. Which means they probably had to hire more junior level designers and environment artists for their new title. There were a lot of great learnings from Ashen that would have been great here and they're very much not 😢

It's a 6/10 game with a 8/10 soundtrack ("Liberation!" is a banger). When the upgraded combat syncs up with the soundtrack it really gets you pumped up. Overall it was a fun AA particle-effect-filled time. I hope A44 don't close down, although 75% of the folks in the comments section will clap in excitement if they do.

The crazy thing about the platforming is when you get tired of it you can actually miss out on key weapons that will help in the long run. I ended up getting to the very end missing two guns and a specific grenade type that turned that last boss from impossible to remedial.

I played the demo during Next Fest and was shocked by the perf, audio, etc. I couldn't believe a game that close to release could still feel so unfinished. Sad to see that virtually none of the issues were addressed prior to launch. Everything combined to produce a leaden experience where everything felt like a slog. A real missed opportunity here.

Imo, unless it's a proven developer, They Need to have independent feedback from experienced consultants at intervals through the process so it doesn't go so far astray. Well, it's coming to game pass, so I can try it anyway. The traversal looks fun, that might be enough for me. At least for awhile. Pity about the sound. That bothers me more than the rest of it.

I don't think anything went wrong with Flintlock. It delivered on everything I hoped it would be. I've been playing so many grueling souls likes lately so it was nice to have one that was fairly simple and just something fun and easy to play. Wasn't too challenging but still had some fun action sequences and some fun boss fights.

Been playing this on my ROG Ally Z1 Extreme on low settings (as I am always on the road) - it's passable, not the best, but entertaining. I am about 12 hours in so this keeps me occupied while in the airport or bus station. Eats up a lot of juice though - I'm getting like 45 - 60 minutes before I need to plug the Ally again. It's on gamepass, so I say give it a shot.

Tried it and it reminded me of Fallen Lords. The timing for parrying is quite "evil" when certain enemies tend to telegraph their attacks for quite a while and that so far is my only gameplay gripe. A bit buggy in the sense of it does not like me alt-tabbing too often in short timeframes but overall it's a solid game.

@@toab again the writing team is only one part of the games development. The people who design the combat aren't involved in the writing process. Another game SBI was involved in was the Spider Man games. People complain about the writing of those games but most people agree the core mechanics and design are incredibly well made and polished

Man I was looking forward to this. Still 40 bucks is a nice price point but I think I’m going to wait until some of these technical issues get fixed. The gameplay and the art style/premise does look good. Shame about level design.

Not your monitor, it really is this flat looking. Some of it looks good but so much is lacking polish or details. No one and nothing reacts to your presence as you move through the environments and the entire world feels dead as a result.

i was actually looking forward to this game. But their sweet baby thing was a red flag, if for no other reason that i cant say i know of one good game they have fiddled with. But some mechanics of this game is weird. I get that a gun can insta kill but i still feel like it should be a force multiplier, you do not bring a knife to a gun fight. This game does and the bullet is more like a bean bag then an actual bullet.

I was planning to get it, it looked interesting, I thought it was a Soulslike, they say it's a Soulslike in the description. But it's not it's just an average action RPG, it plays more like God of War ( the new series) but not as good. Yeah after the demo I no longer plan on getting it.

The game is poisoned by SBI deeply during early stage of development. Eventhough they tried to fixed it in later stage, but whatever SBI touches, dies. Should have reboot the whole thing from ground up.
