Way back in March (2018), I started a mini A6 bujo to bring with me to work so I could leave my A5 at home. After that, I pretty much never mentioned it again…and now you guys get to see what happened with the experiment!

Definitely not a failed attempt at bullet journaling, you found a whole new meaning in this notebook, and I think that is great!

I literally just put one of these together. I basically have planned peace with my A5 but it gets heavy to carry around. So I bought a couple A6 notebooks to try exactly this, rapid logging old school BuJo style. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I use A6 for my bujo as well 😄😄 and put everything in there and it didn’t feel like I’m restrained with space ❤️❤️

I love seeing the more fictional side of planning! Sometimes we all need a not so pretty journal! Love your videos!

Thanks so much for sharing this, Caitlin! I have a mini notebook which I'd like to use more but never really figured out what I could be doing with it. I have a clearer picture of possibilities now. Happy New Year!

I loved this....I have often thought I needed a small one to carry into places and this works great.....setting one up today. Thanks

Really cool to see how you used the A6 as a sidekick. I’m also using a sidekick notebook, the Leuchtturm1917 A7. When I first saw it, I thought it was too cute not to buy it. In the end, I use it on the go as well, just to jot down quick keywords so that when I get a chance to sit with my bullet journal, it re-jogs my memory on events and tasks.

I love the idea of a messy carry around journal, its not in my nature but I think I’ll give it a try! xxx💕

I use the elastic closure of the A6 LT itself as a penholder. Instead of putting using it the way its meant (straight down the front cover) I pull it across the front and over the bottom corner of the binding. That way I can keep my pen securely along the long edge of the page, as the elastic crosses 1/3 down and I don't have to worry about my pen having a grip :) Also really easy to get the pen free as releasing the elastic when you want to use the notebook releases the pen aswell :)

I actually love this. I need to stay consistent and do best with plain paper

It's so satisfying to see those messy, all over the place spreads and refreshing after your nearly perfect neat spreads in your main bujo. It's nice to see that you're a normal person who can have some messy things as well. I used a sidekick a6 journal kinda like you, to write messy and so. So when I started a new a6 and made it pretty with pre-set up's and such I couldn't bring myself to write messy in it and it lost its purpose. So, I think I'll go back to a5+a6 sidekick combo in 2019 again. Thank you for sharing this not-so-pretty (but still precious) side of your planning with us!

Haha yeah, messy definitely exists! I’ll try to show you guys more of that from time to time ☺️☺️☺️

Love it! this is why my entire planner is in an a6, I can't do more than one or I end up not having something I need at some point or forgetting something cuz i wrote it in one and not the other. And I can't have anything bigger than a6 cuz I need to carry it around. So we make a6 work!

How many Bullet Journals do you have going at one time? Can you do a flow video where you take all your journals and explain how you use them daily? Not a flip thru but more of a this is this journal kinda thing
@SunshineStationery
@SunshineStationery 5 лет назад
I guess I haven’t really don’t that before! I’ll add it to my videos to make list ☺️☺️ (one main bujo + 2ish side/collection...yeah, ok, the video would be easier 😂😂🙈)

I think that I’ll use the A6 size the next time I get a new bullet journal, I don’t really do a lot of stuff and the A5 size takes me a very long time to fill up, 5 months has only taken up about 40 pages or so (including collections and plans)

I use an A6 as well. I needed a place to keep notes for calls I make that I can look back on. :) it has worked well for me, but I'm thinking of incorporating some of your ideas into it too.

Thanks for the video! Had a few questions I’m a bit more curious about: 1. How much time in a day do you dedicate to journaling? 2. Have you ever jumped on the bandwagon of a popular system and found that it just completely failed for you? 3. What subject do you teach? 4. Is there anything you feel changed your world completely when it comes to journaling? 5. Do you ever take a break from journaling? Has anything about it ever bothered or annoyed you? 6. If there was one thing you could tell a beginner what would it be? 7. Is there something pivotal that you have learnt in 2018 about your system/RU-vid videos?
@SunshineStationery

Great questions! 1. Between 5 and 30 minutes (minimum: some lines a day; I’ve been journaling a bit daily in my bujo for the past few months and I recently got back into doing morning pages) 2. In terms of planning, no...before bujo I used a standard agenda and loved it; now I bujo. I’m more likely to try/fall of the bandwagon when it comes to more creative stuff (junk journaling, art, using decorations, etc) 3. I teach English! (ESL - my students are all native French speakers) 4. Journaling...not particularly; bujo, yes! (My productivity/ability to not procrastinate & to use my time for projects that excite me have improved drastically!) 5. Yep! I go through months where I journal everyday...and then I stop. I always get back into it eventually though. I usually stop when things are tough/stressful and I really don’t want to navel gaze (I know, it’s the opposite of what I should do!) 6. Just start! You’ll get better over time (at planning, at time management, or even at making your bujo look nice) so it’s better to just dive in! 7. I’ve realized that using a Bullet Journal, documenting my progress, and sharing my triumphs, flops, and goals with you all has changed my life. It didn’t seem like it was doing much at the time (it’s “just an agenda” sort of thing) but taking stock of last year, especially, really drove home: I don’t procrastinate nearly as much as I used to. I find time during the week to work on my personal projects in addition to my full time job. I feel less stressed...and when I am stressed I’m better equipped to get back to “normal” stress levels.

For my on the go, I use an app (Google Keep) so that when it's done/transferred I delete it from the app. My shopping list is on my phone as well. Out of milk has multiple list capabilities so post travel lists don't have to exist in current lists. It also is connected to other family members devices so I can sync and have anything they added without having to worry about asking constantly. I keep appointments on my phone calendar as well so that other family members can be connected to see when I am unavailable. Don't get me wrong, I love my paper setup. I just have to be able to access things with as little weight to carry as possible. Heck, I am moving a lot of collections into onenote just to have them at my reach if needed so I don't have to keep hopping between journals. (I have a few where as soon as a few things come off I can update it without taking up more space so I keep bouncing.) I have parents who are disabled. One has a partially dead heart from the last heart attack. So we have spent days in the hospital. Knowing I can reach any info at any time is a relief because I keep medical history and medications in there. I do their shopping. I show up when things need worked on. So being able to adapt to changes without having to carry my big planner (I use a composition notebook) is necessary, and I have enough to carry with back up power for my phone with all the extended family to keep in the loop if anything happens to the old man. No one wants to lug around the universe while going from waiting room to waiting room.

There’s definitely a time and a place for analog or digital - I agree that there are certain important documents or info that it’s good to have whenever you need it - I also like to have a paper backup just in case I don’t have access to internet for whatever reason. It’s good to have your bases covered & minimize how much you carry!

the larger the timespan of the planning, the less urgent (i think?). so it makes sense to have this a6 "scratch pad" log. this was also what i thought when looking at the typical planners. i wanted an unrestricted log book, and i could just copy what needs to be copied.

☑️✍🏼😎👍 Interesting...most of my Pocket minimalist bujo has Dated pages, with supply lists and ideas, with a section of favorite quotes, Notes, and project sketches and another section for contact info/ maps. that's all.

I use an a6 keeping a monthly Franken log, notes. A daily for rapid log and to do. Daily 5 minute journal. A calendar x. This travels with me. My collection journal stays at home for tracking.

I've been using an A6 Bullet Journal for a few months now. I actually put the pen down the spine at the top, or I use the pen loop trick with the elastic. (bulletjournal.com/blogs/bulletjournalist/the-pen-trick) It holds fairly well that way.

Do you have a follow up video for your sidekick? I just started using an A6 Stalogy then I switched to personal size rings so will be using my A6 as a sidekick :) I think...

I have an A6 that I use just like yours and it works for the spur of the moment things etc (you inspired me to use the A6 back in march) but lately all I can bring myself to do is my Some Lines a Day. My dilemma with my A5 is because I actually want to change notebook but can’t bring myself too since I have over 80 blank pages. That notebook was all me trying to hard and doing things because I thought I had to do them. That was ramblly so sorry for that
@rochellavanderwal9320
@rochellavanderwal9320 5 лет назад
I'd say just switch! If you really don't like the notebook anymore it can become a burden and that's not what bullet journalling or any journalling is for! Use the other notebook to maybe plan stuff you want to do in your bujo or maybe for other things, I am the same, so I use my old one for like random scribbles and notes that I like to keep and handwriting practices :)
