Flipper Zero Video Game Module : Hands On PLUS GIVEAWAY!! 

The raspberry pi pico chip inside this bad boi is RP2040 which is a dual core arm cortex M0+ chip that can be clocked @ 133 MHz ( some have overclocked it to 240 MHz !) they also make a Pico with WiFi and Bluetooth built in, which I thought they would be using in this product. I would love to see if anyone has used a Pico W for use with the flipper because it’s as capable as a esp32. The 8 programmable I/O (PIO) state machines for custom peripheral interface sets it apart from esp32, as you can do some crazy stuff with them. Getting Doom working on such a small board is crazy and it has multiplayer! Great video, sorry for the long comment but the RP2040 has been a great learning tool for me and I geek out a bit when ever it’s mentioned 😊.

I’m on my way to Singapore, but next week’s video on my channel is about writing custom firmware. If you flash the “main” branch of custom firmware the Video Game Engine works great, but if you use “release” branch it hangs on non-official builds (and also the dev build of Official hangs). So for now, Release build of Official + FW in the VGM works. If I can get a VM running on my laptop I’ll try to drop the updated firmware on your Discord server. Not sure how fast airport WiFi is, on my phone now. :). March 23 I’m doing a video on writing a game using the Video Game Engine for the Video Game Module. (I created “Air Labyrinth” using the VGE which I hope to get added to the store soon - it’s in RogueMaster dev drops now. The player icon is super small so you need that HDMI out!)

The game of life actually plays itself. I’ve wrote one in school, if I remember correctly the premise is that it mimics real life organisms where a single cell only survives and multiplies if it has neighbours and whenever it gets too many neighbours it ends up dying (I’m not sure 100% of the rules but I recall something like that, maybe the death rate is time based). That’s why you see the screen “bubbling” away, it’s the cells reproducing and dying away.

I'm not excited for this as a Flipper add on but I'm interested in what it can do stand alone. I'd love to see a teardown.

Since the other descriptions were rather nediocre: The game of life is whats called a cellular automata, made by a man named Conway. Its a mathematical experiment to allow for the emergence of complex patterns based off of simple rules. The game of life is a turing-complete set of rules, which means you can simulate the computation of an entire cpu within the 3-4 simple rules dictating 'cell' behavior. It's one of the first examples of our steps towards practical artificial intelligence and digital lifeforms, and its also most entry level programmers first real project, originally developed in like the 40s or something, before we even had the computers to run it. You should do some significant research on the chaos theory associated with cellular automata, because i plan to use its concepts to make real digimon to run on the flipper. The entire foundation of life, reality and computation is built off of what we learned studying the emergence found within Conways rules.

yooooo, I love the channel. And, I mean love. Nobody does it like you. I have a question that you probably can't answer, though. when I bought my flipper I purposefully didn't get the wifi dev board because I want one of AWOK's. Any idea when they might be back in stock?

Game of life is a self automated game based off living and dying cells. Think of a petri dish of bacteria or an aerial view of civilizations, falling and rising. It’s all math. Can’t have overpopulation.. and some cells breed under the right condition… that’s it. I’ve seen some pretty cool mods and I’m currently working on my own variation of this game using python and real life city data.
