Thank you for bringing great knives for the common man to the forefront. I've bought several knives you've reviewed and I'm satisfied with each and every one of them!
As you know , I am a fan of these FLISSA knives . I’m still stunned at the price point !!! And yes - Grand Way has never let me down either . As I always say … “ ain’t nuthin like a Bas Ass Budget Blade “!!! Happy Holidays Brother 🤠
This is definitely in my price point. I can leisurely buy this. Also use it without feeling like I'm depreciating it with every scuff and chip. For me I have gained a great amount of appreciation for maintenance of tools. With around 440, 8cr13mov or d2 level. As always great review, awesome blade!
I have both sizes in the Swiss-tech versions. I agree that the smaller size is a lot more useful. The one beautiful use of the larger version is slicing up a large cut of meat, such as a prime rib! I absolutely LOVE the sheaths on them. Keeping them sharp is extremely easy, it just takes a bit more attention with a Steel than something that's harder. The price is right, they are beautiful and useful. My only slight complaint is I think they should have made the sheaths a bit darker in color! But that's easily solved!
@@411Outdoors Black leather dye is cheap! I found one with that little foam applicator tip on Amazon a couple years back to color in the White threads on a black sheath on another budget knife that would work wonders!
It would be very interesting to know who the companies in China are and which brands they produce. I'm sure we would be amazed how few actual manufacturers there are there just branding everyone's private labels.
People are getting crazy w/ the wieght reduction these days. I prefer a solid tang on mine as well. Yes skeletonizing reduces weight but its a trade off. Besides a little heft in a self defense weapon can be a good thing. Especially if one intends to do pommel strikes & try to parry other weapons w/ it like you would w/ a bowie knife for example.
I’ve noticed now you can get good stuff for cheap but there is NO QUALITY CONTROL TESTING DONE ON IT so it’s about luck of the draw. I bet if you purchased like 5 of them all at once the quality control between all of them would be wildly different!
That's an amazing value knife... but... and this might sound odd... the knife is a bit big for me. What I would really like to know about is your stocking cap. What brand is it and does it still have a tag in it with a model number of some sort? That's a nice looking knife... but that's a really cool looking hat. 😃😃😎
I'm just wondering though, the stripe on the side. Is that stripe reflective? I know it's safer, but I'm typically not a fan of reflective stripes and things on my shoes or my clothes or my hats. Just wondering. Thanks!
"Easy to sharpen"??? How do you put a proper(!) edge on a concave edge? Otherwise, I can agree with you . I own a different Flissa fixed blade, and besides the necessary reprofiling, I had nothing to complain about.
The type of steel takes an edge easy. Didn’t have any trouble. It’s a sharpening method that I learned from a guy on RU-vid. I had to use a small sharpening stone.
Okay should I grab two Flissa's or one Cold Steel Recon Tanto or One Cold Steel Kyoto and one Flissa? I know you have all of these knives. What do you recommend?
I would get one FLISSA for big task and the Kyoto for everyday carry. I love the look and feel of the recon but I just don’t like how easy the handle gets loose.
mine took a very long time to sharpen and I have been sharping knives all my life I am 63 I do not think the metal was heat treated properly so I bought another one just to see and it was the same way very big turn off when you buy a new knife and have to sharpen it for hours. I have never had any problems with other Flissa knives they have always been very sharp and easy to sharpen these two knives are a big turn off and as soon as you use them the edge is gone very poor metal I like Flissa knives but I would avoid this one at all cost. the handles had sharp metal overlapping the wood had to sand them down just a big turn off. one bad apple spoils the hole bunch I will think twice before I buy another Flissa knife they should start paying more attention to q.c. if you buy a new knife you should be able to cut stuff with it. I spent 6 years in the marines infantry and recon I do know a little bit about knives if it was just one knife no problem but 2 at different times tells me they are letting them go out knowing this problem big turn off. I would feel bad giving them away in the attic they go. I am not after a free knife I am very well off I give knives away as gifts but I would never gift these out no way.
I do that on occasion. I don’t always put them through the paces. This one was like 17 bucks and had a pretty budget Steel. It will lose its edge real quick but it will take an edge again pretty quick as long as it’s not neglected too long
Well it’s twenty bucks so it won’t be but so much but this one is pretty cool. If folks wanna spend big money I say go for it there’s a lot of options. I’ve spent a pretty good deal of money on a handful of mine. I have fun with beater blades though. It’s something about having something to use that’s expendable
