Hey Ben Gary Baecker here and I put the FLERKEN together this summer and I have to say it is one of the best flyers I’ve ever had but, I’d never launch the way you do . If you’ve ever had the prop run across the top of you hand you’d quit. Go into you flap setting put it on a switch and give yourself 15/20% up, grab the end of the wing give it throttle and swing, it’s beautiful. What a flyer, I use this type of launch all the time. I side-arm mine all the time: nice, gentle throw, lots of power. Glad yours survived to fly again!

Such speed off an itty bitty proppy

Hey Ben, Martin from HB. Good to see you out there. I've been building in retirement and posted a few things on my channel.

I love watching you fly. When right hand launching side arm and overhead, there seems to be induced torque to do a left barrel roll. When Garrett threw it left handed there was an induced right barrel roll that immediately swapped into left barrel roll the second you punched the throttle. Maybe you could get fewer nose dives from side arm and overhead launching by swapping props and motor rotation, or apply some hard right aileron immediately after launch. Only other thing I can think of is that your right wing is producing too much lift as a result of wing length being slightly off or the ailerons need to slightly favor a right roll. Waiting to see more videos.

I use a 4S 2200 battery with a 9 by 6 prop to do about the same speeds.

The Launch Assist from an Aura 5 would come in really handy here. It takes care of the torque roll and also makes it dirt easy to side arm launch. If you have an FrSky stabilized RX, you can get the same result by turning on auto-level and add a mix in to get a ~25degree slope with the elevator.

Millennium flerken absolutely cooks on a 3s 2200, and you’ll get 10mins. It’s absolute madness on a 4s 3000. Too much power. Make a pattern from your foam parts and you then have unlimited aircraft. I get 15mins of useable power on my 4s 3k.

Here I go repeating myself... much too fast for my 78-year-old reflexes.
