Flite Test - FT Viggen 

Awesome video and design. Really Love the way David laughs and reacts to disaster. Will certainly miss him when he goes home. You guys are awesome!

I maidened mine a week ago, it’s astonishingly easy to fly! I was doing inverted passes after just a couple minutes in the air.

David's work with FT Viggen was one of his best. The Viggen is an awesome RC subject and one of the best flying EDF's I have flown.

Someone make a 200% version of this and call it a "Biggen"

My nephew and I built a edf viggen recently. I was really nervous about the first flight (we are fairly new to rc flying). My 12yo nephew flew the plane and made it look easy. I'm very impressed with the flight characteristics of this plane, it wants to fly really fast, but has no problem slowing down and just glides in for a soft landing. Great job on this design, if you're new don't be afraid of buying/building one. Love it.

I built one of these back when the video was up. I spent many hours actually measuring with a ruler on my screen measuring in cm converting to inches...don't ask i did what I had to do lol but I came out with one of the most memorable flight experiences I've ever had an to this day I would do it all over again. I still have the original waiting for when my little one is old enough to fly. Thank you for sharing your knowledge knowledge with the public this design is phenomenal.

This plane is flying so great, that I never had a crash with it. It's my only and favorite FT EDF plane.... I built speed build kit according to the constructors advice, with 70mm edf, 60amp esc, 3000mAh. Absolutely amazing.

I remember for Christmas my wife got me 12 EDF Jets. Talk about a happy guy. Unfortunately she was not happy when I crashed 10 of them. Thank you so much for designing a EDF jet. I hope y'all do a lot more with Them

A big thanks to the FliteTest team! You guys are a class act, and definite innovators and pillars of the R/C community! You guys make it fairly cheap and easy for beginners to get into flying, yet still have cheap and advanced planes as well. Job well done guys! I think it's safe to say no one can wait to see what you guys think of next! I own 2 of your planes so far ( spitfire and f-22 ) I will be ordering the Viggen tomorrow. FT Viggen vs Väggen. That's awesome man, makes me want to get into this hobby again.

This plane is phenomenal… I just love it. I built around 5 Viggen 3 with the same dimensions and 2 128% bigger , the bigger one is so much better with90 mm EDF but the common problem in all of them is the lack of ventilation for the electronics. That is why I made ventilators for the last 3. Thnx David it’s a great plane.

I just wanted to tell you guys are AWESOME. I had no idea were to start in the rc hobby until I found your account. you really gave me a plantation to build off of and really appreciate the advice and help. now I own a bixler 2, an fms 1280 (similar to the bixler2 ), and I have scratch built the f22, ft flyer, a slow flyer made from the building techniqes from expiremental airlines, and I cant explain how helpful you are

They are so fast and the look amazing. The one with the prop that moves with the altitude was so nimble. It looked like a jet doing 3D. David, keep up the good work👍🏼

That formation flying you did made me think of an awesome idea: You could use FPV gear and a gas powered plane to do a mid-air refeuling mission!

I have a viewer request/challenge for you! :D I would be so insanely awesome if you could try to build a replica of Don Karnage's "Iron Vulture" from the Talespin cartoon and launch a plane from it in midair with FPV! In case you don't know what it is: It's basically a flying aircraft carrier with like 10 smaller lifting props and two big ones for forward motion. Fantastic! Flite test is without doubt one of the most important organisation in the RC world and once again they raise the bar! This aircraft is a real credit to David and the team!

I use that mobius cam for everything! I haven't posted any videos of it yet, but I use it for FPV, Airsoft POVs, Normal recording, biking, you name it. I would definately recommend bc its such a good quality and small camera for really cheap.

Four years later: I was watching the selfie stick flying and thought of a challenge. Midair "refueling". I haven't watched ALL of the Flite Test videos and you may have done it. Just a larger plane with a boom for the smaller plane to connect to. A light on the smaller one that signals connection.

Missed Bixler in this episode... You guys should make a swappable UAV that's super easy to build.

Afterburner did it again!. David, try igniting the afterburner with steel wool and sulphur. The cool thing about this method is that the rate of burn is proportional to the air flow surrounding it. It is what they use on modern flaming arrows. Add an electronic igniter (small resistor or nichrome with matches) and you should have a somewhat more safe igniter/primer for the butane combustion.

Watching this in 2024, still hilarious to see David hoofing it to the burning plane and laughing like a madman 🤣🤣🤣

I finally finished building my scratch build of this plane! I went with the swappable option since I don't have extra dough for an EDF setup. Mostly because I would need to buy a few 4S batteries to make it worth while. At the moment I'm running a Turnigy D2836/9 950KV motor with a 10x6 prop. I have an 8x10 prop on it's way that should break the 80mph barrier and hopefully give me less torque roll. Also, my motor setup was so heavy and hanging out the back more than 2 inches, that I ended up throwing in two 2200mAh 3S batteries in parallel just behind the nose and it balanced out perfectly! I flew it's maiden flight about 30 minutes ago and it was so smooth! I flew it for about 8-1/2 minutes and my batteries still read 55% so I should easily get at least 16 minutes. I plan to build another one with an EDF down the road but I think I'll go with the speed build kit for that one just to make sure every angle is perfect. Thank you, David, for this awesome creation!!!

FT: I built my first quadrotor 3 weeks ago, and just took my GoPro 200+ ft up for the first time. Landed in a tree, but hey, it was fun. Thanks for the inspiration!
