In fishing we’re often guilty of placing the importance of the size of our catches above anything else. Yes, we all love catching big fish, but a big fish isn’t necessarily limited to a 20lbs Pike or a 200lbs Skate; in some cases, a fish that can merely be weighed in ounces, can eclipse the significance of one in the tens or even hundreds of pounds.
One fish that is often overlooked and often thought of as insignificant, is the Dace, where a fish of 10 ounces or so is considered a specimen. It is fish like the Dace, especially big ones that, here at Angling 360, receive the admiration that they deserve.
There really is something incredibly special about a large version of a ‘small’ fish.
In this episode we attempt to highlight this, by first trying our luck at finding some ‘Silver Darts’ on trotting tactics before turning our attentions to the feeder and another species that while prized south of the border, is a little misunderstood here in Scotland; The Roach.
