I had a few days away for some r&r up at St Abbs in Scotland.
I stayed in camping pods at Scoutscroft Holiday park near St Abbs - cheap as chips at £58 for two nights, (pods sleep up to four people).
The first day I blanked, so second day I tried my hand at float fishing, with ragworm bait.

Good to see your back again and trying something different when there’s not much going on this time of year. Maybe you should have a ride down to the Holderness Coast the rays and doggies are slowly coming back hopefully the smoveys will soon be here

If you ever go back to torness ..... put your casts between the lifeboat and big stantion...... very little fish in the part you fished .... you also get fish at the inflow ( you can see it from the helipad ) mullet are usually at the outflow and just over the right hand side wall is where the bass are at but depends where you catch the tide for the bass .... can get a wee bit hairy if wrongly timed ....... nice to see you in east lothian 😉

Depending on where I am. I normally set my stopper (lakky) band at around 1.5 the length of my rod. But another good video hinny. Caught some big Pollack from tynemouth pier.
@fishinghinny
@fishinghinny 4 месяца назад
Hi David I set the drop to different lengths during the sesh to fish different depths, the shorter drop seemed to work best for that mark. Cheers for watching 👍🎣🐟

@@fishinghinny sorry. My tunnel vision. Of course it's also the depth of the water at a Mark that determines how deep you set your stop knot.
@fishinghinny

Yeh it’s best to experiment with the drop length, tide height and fish depths change through a session. Tight lines 👍🎣🐟

Great stuff,I'm staying at scouts croft in 3 weeks time,hoping to wet a line at some point too if the wife and kids dnt get in the way lol might have to take them upto the power station 🎣🎣
@fishinghinny
@fishinghinny 4 месяца назад
Thanks Gary It’s worth a look up the power station even if just to see the enormous size of it. You can walk right around it on the coast path. The water intake is near where I fished, the warm outlet it on the south side, both fish well in the warmer months. Loads of parking, drive past the first car park, turn right and drive right along towards the water outlet - I think it’s marked as coastal walk parking. Some nice walks around St Abbs and Coldingham too. Tight lines 👍🎣🐟

Hi Hinny could you tell me what size of reels you use for your different types of fishing ie Beach / Pier , i mainly do pier and or estuary fishing and i'm going to replace the old mish mash reels i have at the moment with 2 reels of the same kind , love the channel ,thanks again , Brian
@fishinghinny
@fishinghinny 4 месяца назад
Hi Brian For the big rod setup, I have the Sonik Black 13’ with a Penn Battle 3 which is a 7000 size reel. For lighter river and estuary fishing I have an Abu Garcia 13’ Bass Rod, which I use a Shakespeare size 4000 reel. And for the little spinning rod I use a 2500 size reel. I find these sizes balance nicely to the rods I’m using. Tight lines 👍🎣🐟
