Went out on a real steelhead adventure hiking 8 miles in hopes of finding some untouched waters. I was able to find a few steelhead and figured out some things about float fishing since it’s still new to me. It was a great trip!

Well I recognize that spot haha. The video is on my channel if you want to see what it looks like upstream. The scenery is epic up there but the best fishing is actually down where you were below the skinny water. We only saw a few fish up above that section. Cool place!

You’re the first one to recognize it haha. It is an amazing spot to fish with the scenery and everything.

The CATT?

It’s not the Catt. this is a small tributary of Lake Erie.

Do they close off sections over there? Cause seems like you guys over there always make a killing every trip, over here on the canada side lake o tribs most of the tribs are closed from a certain section until trout opener. Need to move over there lol 😂

We have a few creeks that have sections that are only open to catch and release. The thing that is harder out here is that most parts of creeks are private property, so you gotta find the public parts or get permission…

The smaller fish was a stocker, based on its size and appearance. I've hit the Erie tribs (unintentionally) shortly after a DEC stocking and have caught fish of that same size/color by the dozens. Their coloring looks a bit more checkered when they're that size (6-8 inch range is 99% a stocked hatchery fish). Any luck on the jig w/shad setup? Looks like everything you banked was caught on an egg sack, but was curious if you had any hits on the plastic shad.

That’s good to know thanks for sharing with me! I don’t think I had any luck this day with the jig and shad. But it has worked pretty well for me in the past especially at Canadaway creek if you have fished there.

@@OfficialCreekGeek I've hit Canadaway a few times, but usually fish the Catt when it's not blown out (this year water levels are low, WNY is 2-3 inches below normal for rainfall). Plain old beads and double bead setups work well in the Catt, 8mm is usually best. Try raw/peeled small to medium sized shrimp on your hook, under a float, in those creeks...I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how well they work.
