Remember! Immigration has cut a deep hole in the tile contractor's and tile setter's earnings. I watched it happen. From when I was this worker's age and I was still young like him. Until today. There was a time in 1988 when I would not have left the house unless I knew that I'd make at least $200/day and often $300/day. Then both the conservatives (who love the cheap labor and leftists (who love their cheap cause) conspired to ruin the American worker. Meanwhile referring to all who oppose open borders as 'racists". I have never met a pro-immigration worker who has lost a good paying love these college leftists have always been very generous with other peoples' money.

So glad to see your back to floating walls and pans again. It’s the only way I’ve done it for 20 years. I tried the WEDI system and the Laticrete system once each and I can float a shower faster and have a better enclosure. I would just recommend getting a air staple gun that shoots 1”x1” staples. Turn the gun sideways and Staple your metal lathe every 8” up the studs side ways.

Great job good for people to see how it’s done right. I have seen in previous videos and this your statement of mud not adhering to the tar or aqua paper but that’s not why your getting cracking. Could be rich mix or fast drying if you’re in the valley. Floating over water proof membrane is hundreds of years old and actually Uncoupled mud from expanding walls like exterior stucco does. No problem with aqua ( craft) paper.

Its nice to see a craftsman cement float a shower enclosure. That's how i do all my showers, i don't stray from that method. As the years progress, fewer and fewer guys float. Nowadays, when I do my bids, I seem to be the only bid with the cement float process. I just can't embrace any other method for doing showers. Its "old school" and its built to last many decades!!

He's right about the no gym philosophy, people spending money to work out, when you get more out of a labor intensive job all while getting paid. It's one major reason I went from banking and law firms to construction work, and the level of stress relief you get is way better than working in white collar jobs.
@DodgeandGMkiIIingFurdDaiIy
@DodgeandGMkiIIingFurdDaiIy 3 года назад
Everyone has an opinion on blue collar vs white collar jobs. I’m 26 and make almost $100k a year at my white collar job. Full benefits, air conditioning etc. Blue collar jobs are back breaking work, sweaty, sometimes unsafe. Breathing in dust and fumes working on your knees and bending at your back. A gym membership is literally $20 a month.
@mlyniecm
@mlyniecm 2 года назад
A hard labor job is nothing like going to the gym, that’s the reason many people who work hard manual labor still go to the gym.
@horuslupercalaurelian1569
@horuslupercalaurelian1569 2 года назад
@@mlyniecm if you're out of shape yes, true for half of what you said, but if you're proactive and staying healthy and happy where you work and using it as a mode of gaining experienced muscle, getting a workout, then you're getting fit and making your body stronger. Unless you can't think right or process everything correctly and are working in a risky manner and harming your body. Saying that hard work or labor intensive work is "nothing" like going to the gym is an exaggeration or just nay saying, but yes the gym is almost an extra. I do it. Just to be healthier and look healthier. Wise men always tell you "the lazy and the ones not wanting to work hard will always get hurt because their body isn't ready for intense labors, and they'll end up working harder to makeup what they avoided as a youth", its why people are more likely to get hurt when they hate their job.

Trying to convince my pgm to let me adapt this technique for my crew in NY. If we have the opportunity to frame our cove from the bones up usually we can get it plumb and square within a negligible degree; it's the rush gut and refurbish jobs that kill me. There's never enough time to be as meticulous as I'd like to be. I'm curious if floating the substrate turns out to be a time-save over the total span of the project; and if not, and there's a guaranteed "sacrifice" of time if the overall quality of the finish can be justified. I tip my trowel to you sir, your work is practically flawless. Keep fighting the good fight. 🤙
