Hopefully everyone is keeping safe and well. Week six of Fireside Sessions is once again dedicated to the hard working men and women keeping our hospitals and care homes functioning during these extremely difficult times. I’m sure their work seems thankless at times, but our appreciation knows no bounds. Keep the home fires burning and we shall see you again next week.

I will never forget the first time I saw these guys live; it was at Slim's in San Francisco a few years ago, and I was right at the front of the stage. Dave happened to look down during the bridge to Drunken Lullabies, and seemed to appreciate the fact that I chose to wear a Guinness shirt to that show, so much so, that his face lit up, he turned around, turned back, and tossed me a can of it! I will forever love this band!

I heard the lyrics just a little differently in this video. If you Google them, it says "by morning we'll be free" which I think is how most people think when they hear or sing the song. But I could have sworn I heard Dave sing "with mourning we'll be free" at one point in this video and changing "morning" to "mourning" put so much more meaning into the song for me. Has anyone else thought of it this way? Either way, easily one of my favorites that first got me hooked on Flogging Molly.

I haven't heard most of the original "plugged in" versions of these songs, but they sound really good played acoustically. That's probably because they're the types of songs that are meant to be played acoustically in the first place. lol
