After massive rainfall this week we got a lot of flooded basements and water heater calls. This video shows a flooded basement (thats all ready been drained) and a flooded/drowned water heater. Most of these basements had sump pumps that were not in good working condition. This is the dry out and restart procedure. After learning more about editing we decided to re-edit the old drowned water heater series, everything can now be found in one video! We also released as newer version of our cast iron lead joint removal video, the link will be down below as well as in the end screen. Thank you! Follow us on Instagram and Facebook, links down below.
This a a revised version of the original Flooded Basement, Drowned water heater video series we have one RU-vid. Since we have got better at youtube, editing, etc. We decided to remake some of our older videos!

I apologize it was one of our very first videos we’ve learned a lot since then.

Hi my basement flooded and now my water heater won't even let me try to turn on the electric push button.

I have next to no idea what I'm doing but this makes it look pretty easy. But I'd assume that somewhere there I'd want to cut off the gas and not use a flame nearby without first making sure there isn't gas that vented out when I disconnected. Again, not the expert. Just trying to figure it out.

You can and probably should but if the control valve is working correctly it won’t be sending gas to the burner assembly anyway.

Wouldn't the gas control be soaked and not working?....Mine got wet from a leaking pipe and doesn't work..The tank won't light with the piezo. I'm trying to dry it out with a hair dryer and a fan overnight...

Depends on the situation. The one in the video had a tank failure inside the flue so it ran right down on the burner assembly. Controls valves are sealed units and I’ve never seen one get water in it but I’m not saying that’s not possible if the leak is on the piping erc

What did you do with the wet insulation? Please advise. We took our burner out, dried it too, but our concern is that insulation being wet. Thanks

@@bigsexymama1 Mama, my leak was on the outside of the tank. Insulation did not get wet. I'm not a plumber, but if your insulation got wet, chances are you have a leak on the inside that requires replacement of that tank.

@@tompem we had a flood from a storm in the basement. Plumber told us to remove the burner and dry everything out. We did. Everything is dry except for that insulation inside it.
