Henk Poort is Dutch Phantom, Floor is literally fangirling the whole time on stage with him. Was such a vibe seeing this. Also too when Henk went with them in concert, he's wearing a Nightwish tshirt and he became part of the band honorarily.
This one is amazing as Floor was blowing away the Dutch audience. For me there is only one better version: Floor and Henk with Nightwish, November 28th 2022 Ziggo Dome Amsterdam, official live version❤
Hank Poort did play the Phantom in Dutch a lot of Times. Floor was always inspired by Hank and when she had the Chance to Perform with one of the other Singers on there at the End. She had to choose Hank und do Phantom of the Opera. But that Growl and raspyness he added in there, holy cow. Been a Nightwish Fan since i can think but Floor always surprises me everytime i hear her, specialy on Live Concerts. Btw, if you dont have seen it yet. Check our Floors take on Euphoria on beste Zangers. Its not Live, because she had a surgery for Kidney stones. So Beste Zangers reached out to her if she could record and send something in. And she did go overboard while still recovering.
There are 2 Nightwish versions you should listen to. The version with Floor & Henk & Nightwish. Also, the version with Tarja & Marko & Nightwish. They are very different versions, but they are both awesome. I would say they are companion songs.
Yes, both are worth it. Floor and Henk do the traditional version, while Tarja and Marko do a truly metal take on it. Both are outstanding. IIRC both use Tuomas's arrangement of the song.
I've watched this numerous times, and no matter how many times Floor and Henk may have rehearsed this, I'm convinced that he was not fully aware of her range. I can watch this endlessly because it gives me goosebumps when they get to the outro. Part chemistry, part artistry, entirely stupendous.
Absolute vocal acrobatics. Truly phenomenal singing art. Floor Jansen who effortlessly octaves splash clean to an octave or four. Even opera singer Henk Poort was impressed. Hardly anyone can match. this is just beautifully done. We know Floor as a singer of Nightwish, but we have known Henk since 1994 as an actor and of course as an opera & musical singer of The Phantom of The Opera 🎭 Lloyd Webber always said, Henk is the Best....👌 Beste Zangers is a Dutch show. It's not a competition, it's all singers singing a song for each other, for the person sitting on the couch next to the Host-Presenter. It's always a surprise, you can see that 🤩 This is on the beautiful Island of IBIZA (SPAIN) 🇪🇸 in a resort 🍹 🌅 🏝️ Love from the Netherlands 🇳🇱💕
All the performances are epic in this show. I especially recommend Emma and Henk singing "Vivo Per Lei", and Floor singing "Winner" Emma singing "Strong" to Floor is also pretty magical, as long as you don't mind seeing Floor cry.
The Dutch TV show "Beste Zangers" (Dear/Best singers) is not a competition but a program in which 7? singers are invited to come to a vacation resort for 10 days without family or managers to bond with each other. Six months prior they are given lists of all the other particpants of songs that were important for the other participants. The show gets very emotional at times (they all have issues) and the 2019 version can be seen on YT entirely with English subtitles. When Floor was asked for the show, she initially did not want to do it, but when she heard that Henk Poort was in it too, she immediately said YES! Floor has adored Henk since her teens for his singing ability (Henk was the Dutch phantom of the opera). Floor called this a highpoint in her career afterwards. Floor asked Henk if he would do the Phantom in the last episode of the show. He agreed and only asked if he could perfom it with Nightwish if Nightwish came ot the Netherlands. Floor agreed. COVID came, so it was only done recently in the Ziggo dome. Floor puts up a notch even further in that version! Henk had never performed gritty voice as he is an opera/musical theatre singer. He only did that for the first time in the Beste Zangers show to honour Floor her metal background. Speaking of background, Floor and Henk never met before the show. Henk did not even know Floor. They rehearsed this five times to bring the band up to the metallic music and Henk never practiced his gritty voice. That was genuinly a surprise for Floor as you can see.
Henk Poort is the Dutch Phantom, he's owned this role for a LONG time in Europe. The band took some direction from the Nightwish version. Floor only joined this show to sing this song with Henk, which is a childhood idol of hers. In return this show was the FIRST time ever sang with distortion (as it goes against his operatic training). He also requested, and she agreed to sing this live with Nighwish after the show. While Floor is a HUGE success as this point through Europe in the metal word, she's hardly known in her home country, until this show!~
Great réaction ❤❤jeje you must see the version of phantom of the opera of Nigthwish with Tarja and Markko, it's Wonderfull, regards from Bogotá - Colombia
Now that you're down the rabbit hole, it's time to add a few more symphonic metal bands (But don't forget Nightwish and Epica, because there's still so much more to them): Within Temptation: Angels (Live Black Symphony) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m5fMRcFjBHc.html Within Temptation: Mother Earth (Live): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hJXdk4mKM9M.html Within Temptation: Somewhere (Live feat. Anneke Van Giersbergen) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ScjEJRIZGvg.html Within Temptation: The Other Half (of Me) (feat. George Oosthoek) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hJXdk4mKM9M.html The Gathering are pretty much the originator / influence for the symphonic metal genre with their vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen, although they're not really symphonic metal, but they set the elements in motion (Credit for the specific genre could got to Tristania, Within Temptation and Nightwish, probably -- although Anneke was an influence for at least WIthin Temptation and Nightwish vocalists). Anyway... I love Floor’s first song (Vilja Lied) in this series of Beste Zangers, because she was a bit of an unknown outside the metal scene. She was first up and the reactions were priceless, they weren’t quite expecting it from what they thought was “just a metal singer”. There’s an extended version with a short interview before and reactions after. English subtitles available, so don’t forget to turn them on: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JN80AfHiUTY.html
But... did you know that Nightwish (pre-Floor) did a version of this when they were but little babies, with their old singer, Tarja? It's good in a different way. Well worth a look.
This was a dream come true for Floor, she looks up to Henk Poort, he was the Phantom in the Dutch Phantom of the Opera. I bet she dreamed of this growing up. Shows how humble Floor is and how underated Henk is.
You will want ice cream after hearing/watching this performance. Gotta agree with Zbygniew in the comments - next up for you should be Nightwish featuring Henk Poort at the Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam in 2022.
Great reaction Rachel! The two versions of Phantom with Henk and Floor are amazing. As a fledgling Nightwish fan, you should go back and listen to the older concert version with Tarja and Marko. The two female lead singers before Floor both contributed to the Nightwish we all enjoy today. I think you would appreciate hearing Tarja and Anette.
@@richardmead5969 I think Anete is one step bellow we all agree (altough not bad, its just she wasn't otherwordly good) but Tarja is quite fantastic as well.
And now you should check out Tommy Johanssons version, he does both roles. He releases a new cover every Friday and are also guitarist in Sabaton. Here you have a link to his version ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QgyR-gjcNbk.html
Uncle Henk has entered the building ;) He was/is the original Phantom in the Dutch stage production and several performances in London as well i might add, and... he is one of the favorite Phantoms of Andrew Lloyd Webber himself. So yeah, Uncle Henk has a thing or two to bring to the table in this performance hehehe, also, against his background "etiquette" he learned to use distorted voice just for Floor, a skill he did not have because it is frowned upon in the musical theater world, almost as if it's an illegal skill. But Uncle Henk being the awesome and wholesome man he is (he really is), he's all about quality in music, regardless of style, genre or anything, he has an open mind in music. And Floor was/is a huge fan of Henk, prior to them meeting she too fell for him when she first saw him perform the Phantom with Joke de Kruijf (the Dutch Christine in the production) many many years ago. In this show it is customary to end the season with duets of the singer's choice, Floor wanted nothing more than to perform "The Phantom" with her youth idol, Henk Poort, so she asked him pretty please can we do that song? And Uncle Henk being awesome, said "Sure, but only if next time your band visits the Netherlands, we perform the song together with the band", Floor instantly replied with "Yes!! ofc!!". She was a little naughty because she forgot to ask the band if it's ok, the song wasn't on the setlist anymore for a few good reasons, but i guess when the band saw the performance.. it was a done deal. So yes... you can also react to.. Floor and Henk with Nightwish performing this live in concert, they uploaded it to their channel and it is equally amazing. (altho not this intimate ofc) Check out that one as well please :D
Beste Zangers show was awesome, Floor did an song from The merry widow theatre on the opening, she did shallow (from lady gaga) and a metal version of a salsa song in spanish. Go check it out!🤘🤘👍👍
OK, so everyone’s going to tell you to check out the recent Nightwish version with Floor and Henk, which you absolutely should. But also check out the version they did back in 2005 with their original lead singer Tarja Turunen playing off Marko - it really is something else.
Don't forget the stuff she has done with her sister, or her earlier bands. (Star One, After Forever, Revamp) Oh, and the stuff she did with Epica, and Kamelot
I don't react often I am Dutch Henk was the phantom for many years in the Netherlands but also in Germany and other Europeaan countrys Andrew Loyd Webber The composer of the song once told in a intervieuw that Henk was his favorite phantom The best of all Flore adores him and her biggest wish was to sing this song with Henk For your info this Greetings
I’ve come from Becky and tea to see what you’re up to now, some really good stuff so far and wow your channel has grown sooooo fast! You’re really gonna love this one, Floor’s hero from her childhood together to sing this iconic song!
If you liked that, you should love this! Nightwish covered POTO years ago with their original singer Tarja Turunen, with Marko Hietala singing the phantoms lines ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tL25rbnvM4o.html
Agree. It's much more better with Tarja and Marco. I don't know why almost everyone who makes reaction videos forget about Tarja. The 90% of the reaction videos are from the Floor era.
@@martinruza3949 Yeah, sorry, but no. From just a vocal point of view? Maybe. Comparable levels of skill. However... On a portrayal of character level? Tarja's rendition is less Christine and more Carlotta. Floor lands things in the character that Tarja doesn't. Similar level of skill as a singer, but Floor is clearly the superior entertainer/actor. Her interpretation of the song just fits the original material far better. She doesn't go "full diva, boastful as she is absolutely certain of her craft" . She goes "brilliant voice regaining passion for singing thanks to her tutor, obsessed with her natural gift and skill". And that is what the character needs. Which makes Floor's attempt better than Tarja's overall. Both are brilliant singers, one also took time to interpret the character and act it out. Just saying.
What I love is that it's a "competition" show where they're not competing to beat eachother, but competing to just be more awesome and cheer eachother on
thank you so very much for choosing me as a winner, but I would rather the thoughtful prize go to a more deserving home. Keep up with what you're doing, and I'll be right there along the way. My e-mail is in my Bio if you really want to talk. Have a GREAT Day!
Pay close attention to the chemistry between Floor and Henk. Floor is seducing him with her eyes and Henk is pushing her to sing harder with his voice and expression....and when Henk changed up the vocals (I wont ruin the surprise and say when or how) I think she had a Floorgasm.
You should go to Floor's own channel and listen (and react!!?) to a song she did with Henk Poort in COVID isolation: A Dangerous game (it's a song from the Jekyll and Hyde musical) The song rendition between these 2 is ridiculously powerful! If you liked Phantom of the Opera you will like "A dangerous game" too!! 🙂
Oh please! I enjoyed so much this reaction! You should try this same song with Tarja Turunen being the singer in Nightwish: it’s absolutely mind blowing!!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tL25rbnvM4o.html
That growl was taught to Henk by Floor. Imagine teaching your idol how to reach beyond their comfort zone! That whole season of Beste Zangers was one of the best things to come out of the pandemic. Greetings from #yeg!
@@ronaldderooij1774 I did notice Marko became a much better singer in a short time after Floor joined Nightwish, I'm sure she gives them pointers. Henk probably tried some growls before in the bathroom though, who hasn't?
@@Lilliathi On camera, Henk said that he never growled in his life before he did "disturbed" during Beste Zangers 2019 because in opera/musical theatre it is a big no-no. So yeah, I don't have a camera in Henk's bathroom, haha. By the way, I think Marco won a song contest in Finland when he was quite young, so he could sing already. But I am sure they are professionals and thus feed off from each other to improve.
@@ronaldderooij1774 I followed Nightwish from very early on, he could sing, but he suddenly got a lot better. I'm not saying I know anything either, it just seemed very coincidental.
This is good, as many have said the Nightwish version at Ziggo Dome is great, but it is also worth checking out Tarja (Nightwish's first vocalist) and Marko doing Phantom as well ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tL25rbnvM4o.html
The one thing that bugs me about this version is that they get some of the lyrics switched up, and it takes them a couple years before they notice and fix it, lol.
Yes, best zangers version, but we can try other performance live with nightwish ( floor and henk ) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TM23gaT4zkY.html Because im sure you did the " end of an era " version with marko and tarja but i can be wrong greetings from Portugal 🤘❤️🤘❤️
The entire Beste Zangers (from 2019) is a wild ride. My favourite by far in this show was Emma. U have more about Henk aswell in the same show. He really nailed it. No just with the singing, he is fun as fck to watch! Now, changing gentes, please, Ankor! U gonna love the band!
as the other reactions have said, YOU JUST MUST do it : Floor Jansen & Henk Poort & Nightwish - Phantom of the opera Live Ziggodome Amsterdam. the official Nightwish Live of course! . the first time in 17 years that Nightwish has played a Phantom . and then pay close attention to what Floor does at the end 3 weeks after her breast cancer treatments ! a 13 second long swipe. for everyone, have you ever tried to just exhale for 13 seconds? and then you don't even produce sound
We This the more "upbeat" Nightwish version of the Phantom. You need to check out the live version with Tarja, the band's original vocalist. Another great version for you to discover on the all the branches that are Nightwish.
Saw them live at pinkpop last year... Floor Jansen was on the bill but we had no clue she invited Henk Poort as well.. the man is like the most famous opera singer in the Netherlands and has never performed on festivals in his life! He shows up, in jeans and a t-shirt and blows they blow the crowd away with their performance. It was hilarious to see his reaction the crowd absolutely LOVING THE FUCK OUT OF IT!!! He looked genuinely surprised that thousands of stoned out of their mind festival folk would love this :D Got a Nightwish set later that same day as well!! Floor literally did 2 completely different sets at the main stage on 1 day... 1st as herself, singing mostly emotional ballads, and later rocking the place up with nightwish!
Yes, you did it! I've been lucky enough to see Floor and Henk perform this live twice, once at Floor's solo show (about a month before covid hit the Netherlands) and once at the Nightwish concert last year (they recorded that, it's at the Nightwish channel). It's even more magical live. When Henk came on stage during the Nightwish concert everyone went crazy, it was awesome! Beste Zangers is a show where Dutch singers go on a 'holiday' together, and every evening they perform for each other. One singer is the highlight of the episode and the others each sing a song for him or her. That could be their biggest hit, a song with emotional value, their favorite artist, etc. The last episode of the season is the 'duet' episode, where everyone picks someone to sing a duet with. Henk is a musical star and the Dutch Phantom, which is why Floor made the connection. Nightwish had a great version of the song when Tarja was still a part of the band, but hadn't played it at all since she left. When Floor asked Henk if he was willing to sing with her, he said "only if you invite me to sing it with Nightwish when you guys come to the Netherlands". And so they did, for the first time since 2005. I was so lucky to be there! If you like Henk, two performances from the show which are really worth it are "Vivo Per Lei" with Emma Heesters (the blonde in the red dress) and "The Sound of Silence" (the Disturbed version)
Well it's about fucking time!.....lol. The only other duet of this song that is on the same level IMHO is Borguss/Kamiloo. BTW notice the rain hitting the water....a thunderstorm had hit and rain was coming therough the tent they were under and they had to rush a bit to get this dome as it was the last song of the weeklong series and they were scheduled to leave.
When you like the sound of Henk, plz do a reaction on his version of sound of silence. He performered this for Floor in the same show. You gonna love this! Keep up the good stuff! 🎉
Andrew Lloyd Weber has said that Henk Poort was his favorite portrayal of The Phantom, so that would be why he's so good here. There are metal vibes because they're playing Nightwish's cover of the song. Nightwish is a symphonic metal band (fronted by Floor).
Hey beautyfull!!! They're great. Please you should check Nightwish with Hank. Imagine those two, but with Nightwish. Amazing. You'll love it. Greettings from Argentina
Ok… YOU HAVE to react to Nightwish “Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean LIVE in Buenos Aires 2019”!!! I’d say it’s the perfect mixture of metal and Phantom of The Opera vibes!!! Very theatrical and powerful. You won’t regret it love!!!! 🔥 🔥🔥
Great reaction. After this show, in 2020, Floor did a solo tour in the Netherlands and performed 2 more duets with Henk Poort, Sweet Curse, a song she wrote for a previous band and Dangerous Game from the Jekyll and Hyde Musical. Both are on Floor's RU-vid channel
Yeah, there’s like three different videos of this performance I mean performing Phantom of the opera the best one is when they do it for a big crowd with Nightwish playing in the background music, which I think is better than this version
If you want to see a even better version go to check this that happens in 2023. At that TV show, Henk said Floor that we will sing that song with her if when Nightwish came to Holland he can sing ith her and her band live. But COVID 19 happens and the show must be postponed. So that really happens in 2023. "Nightwish - The Phantom Of The Opera (ft. Henk Poort) (LIVE)" 🤘N🤘I🤘G🤘H🤘T🤘W🤘I🤘S🤘H🤘 ❤F❤L❤O❤O❤R❤ ❤J❤A❤N❤S❤E❤N❤
This is the Nightwished Version of Phantom of the Opera :) and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do Floor´s Version of "Que Se Ciente" from Beste zangers 2019 too, with intro (because you NEED to hear the story of the song, and listen to the original (10 seconds only)). This song is in original a salsa song, Floor might have changed that ;) here is the all-in-link for the intro/outro/subtitles : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z7wdgB9RbHs.html
Henk Port sang with floor and with Nightwish too (very little with both). 😀 "Sweet Curse" is one of my favourites, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lU8i2i3v8MQ.html. "Dangerous Game" is also interesting, too: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gfMAd-kQWpM.html
Another G.R.E.A.T. (Gigantic, Real, Euphoric, Applauding, Tasty) reaction from you, Rachel. Love your enthiousasm. Waiting for more Nightwish/Floor. Also check The full episodes of Beste Zangers 2019. You also will love the concept and other singers.
Check out the rock band The Warning. 3 super talented sisters (aged 18-23) that write all their own music. Check the official videos for Money, Choke, Evolve, and their 2021 cover of Enter Sandman with Alessia Cara. You won’t be disappointed!
Well, clearly not done. There's two more performances with Nightwish doing PotO (one with Tarja, one with Floor), plus there's all the other Nightwish music you haven't listened to... Get busy! 🤣🤣🤣
Because I'm a chess nerd, and this fits: Queen to D6. Checkmate. 😅 A couple of things: First, a thunderstorm was overhead when this was recorded -- so that thunder you hear in the beginning? The real thing. Second, this is the Nightwish arrangement, written by Tuomas, Nightwish's composer. Third, when this video was uploaded in 2019, it still holds the record for most views of a reaction in 24 hours.
Great reaction. If you would like to check out the best phantom of all time i suggest you take a look at "NIGHTWISH - The Phantom Of The Opera (OFFICIAL LIVE)".
If you're a singer then you need to react to that's all around female today, not singer, everybody nothing but a pure vocalist. Haley Reinhart with postmodern jukebox covering "creep). There's a reason why it's has 113 million views are spent 58 wigs at top of billboard jazz chart. Let Haley blow your mind all her vocal expression
This just dropped, a video from 2008 with Floor and Russell Allen of Symphony X performing a much harder, rockier, up tempo version of the Phantom in front of an orchestra and a band: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cX70wG53wPI.html This would have been from her days in After Forever.
