I was there, just 4 meters away from her. It was a magical evening. Floors sang a lot from Beste Zangers and the rest of their catalog, of course almost all solo. This song was one of the solo singles released before her album. It's pop in theory, but in Floor's way. And now remember that the video is an audience recording... it's unbelievable how good Floor sounds live... I'm not even talking about the stage presence.
Thank you for this lovely reaction. Me Without You is the third single from Floor's solo album Paragon that was released March of last year. The single was released in September of 2022. Excellent sound quality for a fan camera video and pretty close to the studio version. You should also checkout the music video that her husband, Hannes van Dahl of Sabaton, recorded and edited. This song is probably my favorite from Paragon and yes she wrote it. Floor's solo stuff has a more mainstream sound to it. She mentioned in several of the release livestream's for her songs that when she decided to do a solo album and start writing again (she wrote songs in her first two bands, lyrics in After Forever and both music an lyrics in Revamp) she wanted to do something that was not metal. She already gets to sing songs composed by the best metal composer in Nightwish so it didn't make sense to duplicate that. She ended up working with a famous Dutch music producer, Gordon Groothedde, who she had worked with on two songs on After Forever's last album. One of those songs, Energize Me, was a big hit and if you go watch the music video for it you will get similar vibes to this song as well others like Fire and Storm. For me a lot of her solo stuff has a James Bond theme song vibe to it. Other great songs from Paragon to checkout include Fire, Daydream, Hope, Armoured Wings, and My Paragon. Fun Note, During the release livestream for Me Without You many of her fans were asking if things between her and her husband were ok. She laughed and said they were great and that the song wasn't about them.
As much as I love her official videos for these songs, Floor is one of the artists I always much prefer to see singing live. Especially if you watch the entire concert and see the bits in between the songs where she interacts with the audience, rather than just the songs themselves. On top of being a phenomenal singer, she also seems like such a genuinely lovely person who loves being on stage - someone you know would be up there entertaining even if she wasn't earning a cent out of it.

I really like Slow Love Slow. I visualize Tuomas (Keyboards) writing this jazz styled song thinking about his method of constructing his music in his slow, thoughtful, and very creative way. After Floor took over on the World tour, she started singing it in the concerts, but later, it was dropped from the regular setlist. She has sung it in her solo concerts and does it justice. Floor are the most underrated singer ever - because she is the greatest storyteller ever. Her abilities in transferring the listerner into the songs - letting them have the full blast of emotions and passions - well you know..

Something that you should know about FLOOR JANSEN. She started singing in a symphonic metal band at just 16 years old. After Forever (1995-2009). Then she created a new Progressive Metal band, ReVamp (2009-2016). In 2018 she released a personal Hard Rock project (Northward). In 2012, she was invited by Nightwish to finish their world tour, after the band's second female singer (Annete Olzon) left. In 2013 she became Nightwish's full time lead Vocalist. She is a singing teacher. She sings in Dutch, German, English, Spanish, Finnish, Swedish, Italian and Latin. She sings Heavy Metal, Trash Metal, Pop, Rock, Symphonic Metal, Arya and Opera. Yes, Floor is better when she is in the spotlight. She thrives on stage. Her own energy is very much filled by the energy of the audience, and receives extra energie in return. So special and I was able to experience that myself during the Nightwisg concert in Ziggo Dome in November 2022.

Floor's strength is the pure voice of a woman (not some girl, voice turned into plastic by Autotune). Floor is at her best live; she doesn't sing her songs, she embodies them, and she's primal. Floor's voice echoes an ancient past where people understood a woman's strength, pathos, compassion, and passion were one. Such women were seen as sacred; if they sang, hardened warriors wept.

There are not enough words to describe Floor, As much as i love metal and heavy rock I love the whole album she released and some of the tracks bring me to tears as do some Nightwish ones ( only with FLoor though ) She is so charismatic, humble and down to earth you cant help but love her. I fell in love the very first time I heard her sing and saw her with NW, I could not take my eyes off her or stop listening. I told the wife I wouldnt leave her for Floor though.. lol Her album is well worth checking out. Great songs but not heavy, as Floor said they are her own genre "Floor" its what she felt she wanted to do and I for one love it and so do many other thousands of people. I saw Floor Jansen live in Cologne's E-Werk on May 15, 2023. It was an incredible concert. At that time, Floor was pregnant for the second time. Support act was Anneke van Giersbergen, another incredible singer from the Netherlands who also influenced Floor

I still remember the massive reaction of concern for her and Hannes' marriage 😂 (I also freaked out by the possible meaning behind the lyrics lol) it got so "loud" that she eventually released a short video to clarify that everything is fine, they're not splitting up, and that she actually showed the song to Hannes and he 👍👍 That goes to show how much many of us care about them and their family 💖
Is the official video better, no, not in my opinion, you are right, she thrives on live audiences. Her studio work is excellent, but adding in a live audience allows her to bring in even more emotional dynamics it seems.
Not seen this version of the song before, but somehow I feel that she acts more freely than with Nightwish: it is Floor from After Forever and Revamp. ❤
Floor is best in front of an audience. She is an HSP and an empath. She is hypersensitive to atmosphere. She thrives on it for the last 10% of her abilities. And she loves to give that last 10% for "her" audience. She and her audience make the performance together, that's how she perceives it. She was born to do this, not only because of her talents, but also because of her character. And yes, she wrote this song (and many more in the past and present). Remember also that she has a thorough education in Rock music, musical theatre (stage presence!) and a bit of classical singing. So, she worked and works hard for it too. As her father put it: It is like an olympic sporter, you have to do and leave a lot to achieve that level.
There are better sound quality options. There is a version from the studio of a radio show. But Floor is better the more people there are in front of her.
