Hi everyone! Let me know if you have any questions about today's tutorial in the comments below! Remember to download the example file at www.thesketchupessentials.com/floorplan !
Thank you so much! As for a complete noob, which i am, your tutorials are really helpful! I'm going to renovate my new home myself. Have no actual experience. Struggling with making a project of future interior. So, your videos help me a lot! Definitely Like and Subscription.
1. Scaling - import image as image - set to maximum texture - Place in the workspace - Explode the image - Group the image - Find a point where the size is known - Use the tape measure tool to measure that point's actual distance in workspace - change the measured distance to the DESIRED distance (specified distance in image) - Resize > yes - Check if it's scaled properly 2. Modeling - Use line tool to trace the outer lines - OFFSET for the interior walls - trace inner lines - offset inner lines - draw lines for openings 3. Extrude - Group exterior walls - Group interior walls - reverse faces - extrude all walls - double-click for shortcut - repeat - make the specified openings - repeat for the interior walls - delete lines using eraser
Hi, honestly i think i will always enjoy learn many tips in this channel so really thankyou for sharing 🙏, i hope i can find here how to effectively produce a good document for client just using sketchup, and i just find it here ! :)
Yes please do an ep5! This program is a little different from the usual AutoCAD and rhino and these walk-throughs have been super helpful with learning sketchup! Thanks again!
Hi Justin! Would there be any part 2 to this video where we can add material and a second floor to this image? It would be a great practice session for a newbie like me! Your tutorials are amazing.
Thank you so much for sharing your wealth of knowledge with us! It's so helpful. Sometimes I am struggling to find the right videos to watch on your page because there is a lot of content and I'm not that well versed in navigating RU-vid - but I'm specifically looking for helping with modeling for Interior Design.
when i try to select the base piece for doors it also selected everything around and not only that on the ground as in the video can someone explain please ?
Thank you Justin, very well explained, easy to understand and very useful. I do have a question though - I have a cabinet set as a component. And I want to resize it. Make wider / from 1000 mm to 2000mm. When I do so using scaling the objects widens to the desired size, but the sides of the cabinet double in thickness. From 18mm to 36. I built the cabinet from individuall components, sides, bottom etc. . And I just cant figure out a way how to change dimensions of an object without having sketchup change the dimension of some part..... Can you shed some light on this please, or direct me to where I can learn more about this... thanx
what if I created the floor plan in sketchup with correct dimensions and then i want to make it 3d, do I need to export it as a jpeg and then start a new sketchup template & import it in? Or can i just start push/pulling walls in my original file?
Great tutorial my friend, please I am having an issue with getting license for my sketchup 2017,2018,2019 & 2020. Please help me out so I can develop myself with sketchup. Thanks.
do you want to resize the model ? note that components within the model that were loaded from external files will not be resized how to resize, i have got this popup
Hello love your videos these days. I've imported some house i made in sketchup to blender, and whatever i do it was rendering it with full of noise ... .Is there any way to fix that in the beginning. I mean can you import that model into blender and render it. x)
I wish you would go a little slower when you’re finishing up the windows and such. How did you set up the interior walls to pull them up together? I keep trying groups and components and neither is working.
Hi great video, Thanks! I have one question. When using the offset tool to offset outward I am having a problem getting the two selected walls to stay highlighted, as soon as I type "F" or click on the toolbar button the highlighting goes away. I tried holding shift, alt, and control, but nothing seems to work as soon as I select a different tool the highlighting is gone. Any idea what I may be doing wrong? Thanks again.
