Hits close to home. My interpretation is that we people have meaning and reason for everything in our words and language. So much that we follow that route of making and using words to communicate, but it's almost as if when we say something it's only taken in that concept of how language is supposed to be used. Like we can't express and feel all that the other person is saying and communicate with the heart because the words that we use to communicate pour out of our mouths acting as a filter that is given the educational standpoint of rule and proper use of it. I imagine just how the competitive human existence has led us to take things seriously and studying and judging everything for the sake of truth, for the sake of competition, revenge, self-preservation, for the sake of knowledge and status and a place in society. It's all words through that filter that we exempt ourselves from seeing and truly feeling the emotions of the person through the language without no words and only to be felt. And it comes to us in the night when we're alone, when we feel broken or deeply loved that we value and use the language of heart and feeling with no need for words. Oh how I love this song! It makes you feel with the ironic use of words and here we are trying to make sense when we can just feel. Please cultivate empathy and sensitivity in your humanity. Our humanity
When the song gets to 2:27... that's when I cant help but start to sing if I hadn't before. Her voice is unreal and raw (in the best sense of the words) and the lyrics are so beautifully poetic.
Why this song always makes me feel so small and so big at the same time? like, for a second you can understand everything and you think that you could do anything and at the same time makes you feel so small and in the need of a hug of yourself and tell you that everything is gonna be alright. This song is very special, and I would never get bored of it.
*Sigh "And the heart is hard to translate, It has a language of it's own, It talks in tongues and quiet sighs And prayers and proclamations, In the grand days of great men And the smallest of gestures, In short shallow gasps."
love this one. I actually love them all, which NEVER happens with an album. There's always one or two weak songs but all are so empowering. I love this one because it's so different. I wouldn't have guessed that it was Florence - the style is so different but still so good.
im so obsessed with florence and the machine, greatest band in history a great breakthrough to music, i hope they become the biggest in history, id love to look back 50 years from now to my kids and be like, son this is what you call music and what saved our generation! Florence I LOVE YOU
this song is so different from the rest of her songs. Especially the chorus. I love the chorus. SO PRETTY. I have a whole playlist on my ipod just for her
The word of God. Just like dog days are over which means gods days are over but also referencing Egyptian entities in connection with Sirius. So many of her lyrics and vidoes are filled with esoteric influences. A trained eye and ear knows. Shake it out is another. Put simple Google search like - Florence and the machine esoteric lyrics or occult. Industry is filled with them.
I randomly had the title of this song stuck in my head for a while, and then I just decided to search for it on here. Kinda surprised to find it was a song, but man I just love it so much. Definitely my favorite song she's done now.
@SilentxStalkerx exactly my thought too, this is a band that is extremely diverse and doesn't have a set target audience: it doesn't matter who you are and what you believe in.
Thanks so much. I was wondering about those lyrics. Best song on the album. One correction: I think the line is "But with all my education/I can't seem to COMMAND it". As in "I can't command this complicated language.
11 people are accidentally falling into the dislike button over the love f this song. Maybe next time thy will listen to the drumming song in their brains and hit like because i would give all of this and heaven too to help them put a breath of life into the world by promoting flo+machine
You should make a youtube series about driving through neighborhoods as a black guy with very un-stereotypical music playing.... ex: go through a neighborhood with your windows down with extremely loud classical music playing while you rock out in the car. I'd subscribe to you so hard
Here thanks to empty feet. It seems fandoms keep throwing Florence songs at me. Maybe its a sign of sorts... Btw go watch empty feets animatics they are great!
I'm black and a GUY so you know I get weird looks when I'm blasting this, windows rolled down, cruising through the neighborhood. The older you get the less it matters.
Florence it's ok even though I told u to move to apts cross from mcdz when he was kidnapped to take care of sum for me. U could told me u knew he was trapped. Have a nice life with him n wives God Bless u wish u the best. Done listening to your wack ass songs u are no longer a favorite artists of mine I was crying my ass off banging on everything to find him your music helped. Nice vid, few things. It's "It talks IN tongues" not and, also it's "command" not commend I'm pretty sure. But good catch on scrawling, I also think she says scrawling.
