Ok, haters, shut the fuck up. For ME, Florence is obviously more talented, witch such a perfect and unique style, lyrics and vocal tecnique. Actually, she's one of the most supremely talented musicians I've ever seen, and one of the most amazing voices ever. The lyrics, the perfect combination between the multiinstrumental music and her voice make Florence on the most powerful and unforguettable bands ever. I love her, she's my musical inspiration and it's like a legend for me. BUT, I don't see a reason to insult Katy Perry. She makes pop songs with simple lyrics and rythms, and she's not ashamed of it. She is a pop star, and she loves it. And for this interview and other interviews, she looks like a lovelly person, so nice. Florence said that she likes Katy's music, she even posted pictures on Facebook in Katy's concerts and she looked like she was having fun. And here they both had a nice conversation, an interesting chemistry being and a nice conversation being so different. I'm not into Katy's music, but I think we forgott that they are also human beings, here there's only two nice girls talking about music. If they can be nice between them, why we can't? Why all that "Florence is a legent, Katy is garbage, I don't know why she's even talking to her" like high school cheerleaders bullies?" They are both human, they can talk. Some people really make me sick on youtube.

It is Impossible to compare both these artists and put them on the same couch. They come from different backgrounds, different genres and styles, even different countries. Luv them both.

Florence is so awkward and young but now she has absolutely blossomed into an amazing and beautiful woman with a fully harnessed/recognised talent. Meanwhile Katy seems to be off her rocker a bit and going through an identity crisis and everyone is forgetting who she is
Now as she said "Gospel's awesome" it all makes sense why all her music has this churchy amazing vybe that's so unique and amazingly perfect. For eg. Shake it out, Howl, Breath of Life........
People are so generic and basic, just because Katy Perry is a "Pop" star, that doesn't mean she is talentless, just watch her Mtv Unplugged performance it shows her real talent! I know she fits really well in the pop bubble gum overrated singer but she has incredible gospel songs, incredible acoustic performances, and surprisingly incredible jazz abilities. You just need to search behind this blown up commercial image. :)
They are both very talented artists. They are actually very similar vocally and it's great to see them discussing music. You only put Katy down because she is 'pop'.
I personally like both Florence and Katy. I think that awkwardness may have more to do with jet lag because poor Flo looks somewhat ill but it could be the lighting. I know that there where negative comments here but I really like them together. They are both vary different from one another but seem to work well together.
Everyone is being so stupid, you guys only listen to commercial music of Katy, you guys need to hear the gospel albums that she made, the acoustic performances (MTV Unplugged ...) to realize the great talent she has. By the way she writes all her songs and plays piano and acoustic guitar which is spectacular ... Both are very good is just a matter of taste!
Flo and Katy have a very different style and I do like them bot. I like to think of it this way, Florence (who I think personally is a superior talent) has a sense of wonderment and looks like she feels her fame is rather surreal and is a bit surprised at how much her fans love her, while Katy has a sort of... i almost want to say... entitled???.... feeling, especially in interviews.
I think Florence didn't expect much from Katy, but then they opened up to each other. Also, shut the fuck up to anyone comparing them. They're totally different artists and both amazing people. I've met Florence personally, she's an amazing being, and I've also met & seen Katy perform. I'm more of a Katy fan, but I love them both.
Perhaps, but I think people are comparing Katy and Florence's ability to sing. A lot (maybe not all) but a lot of the people here probably prefer Florence's voice. It's very powerful and ethereal and she can probably hit notes Katy never could. It depends on taste, but Florence's voice is much much more appealing to my ears than Katy's voice.
Don't make the mistake of discrediting Katy Perry's talents just because she is a pop artist. I hate it when people try to downplay the importance of pop music. Remember Elvis and Michael Jackson both performed in the pop genre and no one would say those two people didn't make important contributions to music. These are two EQUALLY talented ladies (although with differing gifts). I like the idea of them being friends.
I don't agree with these old comments. Some of y'all just plain rude, I LOVE Florence, doesn't mean I need to compare and put any other artist down. Yeah Florence was less comfortable, bit hungover nervous, shy thats just her personality or wv but I wouldn't say she disliked kattys presence she said shes a genuine fan.
I completely agree with your comment, Katy's voice is powerful but nothing compared to Florence. But in general they are at the same level, both write their own songs, both direct their own videos (at least Katy does, I'm not 100% about Florence), both have experience in different types of music. But like you said Florence voice is better, but Katy plays various instruments (piano and guitar). They just have different styles, unfortunately for Katy, people judge her to quickly...
I think it's stupid how everyone here are hating on Katy... Katy and Florence are two of my three favorite singers, and what I'm always looking for in artists is personality, and these two people have such inspiring personalities, they are amazing. And I think that Florence is just a bit more quiet, that's just how it is. Music industry would have been a bit boring if everything was A4. They are both really good at expressing themselves in two different ways.
Uncomfortable! Katy Perry kept trying to tell Florence who Florence is (and was getting it all wrong.like the whole middle finger bit and the only being into rock) and you could tell Florence was trying to be nice but wasn't quite sure what to say.Also i kinda got the feeling that Katy Perry thought she was better than Florence and was wasting her time (I didn't think any of her compliments were genuine) and you could tell that Florence honestly thought Katy was amazing.Florence is way better
Well sad to say... but Florence does give the middle finger a lot and has flaunted it. And Florence is more rock now actually... 😂 Katy is very very sweet. I’ve seen multiple interviews with her and I find her one of the nicest artists out there (and funniest). I love them both equally ❤️ although I have more sentimental attachment to Katy songs (also with a few Florence songs, but all of Teenage Dream and Prism got me through school).
Katy:"So are you ready?" Florence:"yea" Katy:"Oh well I'm katy perry and I'm really lucky and look at me i play music and I'm pop and i like singing, oh yea i was supposed to be interviewing you wasn't it?"
I don't get all the arguments. They both have talent. It's like comparing juicy blueberries to a luscious vanilla ice-cream. They are different and I love them both, for entirely different reasons.
I'm not gonna state any negative comments about either singer, yes I love Florence more than Katy but I have been listening to katys music longer and I damn well enjoy it. Now what I'm wondering is what wall did Florence punch to get the bump on her left knuckle!? Haha gotta love Florence
I agree with jradical242. Florence was being nice and proper. at 4:18 and other times before and after that, she keeps looking at somebody off camera. She does not want to be there at all! ha ha. F+TM fan forever.
