Even more horrific than this is that the cops will investigate themselves, blame the victim, and go on to do it again and again. Sure, the family may sue and the police will pay, but out of taxpayer dollars, not out of pensions or anything that will equal a real punishment. The cop who shot him will be back to work, drinking beer with his buddies after his shift, and it'll be just another day for them. As a law-abiding American who's lived his whole life in this country, one of my biggest fears is our own police.

I agree!! And what about announcing themselves? I didn’t hear that they did that and I replayed it because I thought I missed it. Unbelievable!! If I was in another room, I may not have heard any knocking, especially if I was on the phone or FaceTiming with my grandkids, and if they crashed in my door, I would most certainly have grabbed my gun thinking someone meant to do me harm. We are lawfully able to defend ourselves in this state. So what … they would have shot me dead?! By mistake?!! This could be any of us! This needs to stop!

Public safety has a very low incidence of lying. Don't comment if you've never worn a uniform or placed yourself in the path of a rude, hateful, ungrateful public you're risking your life to help and save theirs. If you have the nerve for it go to work for a law enforcement, fire department or paramedic service. 🧑🚒 Get some field experience and then comment and learn how very little lies are told when publicly recounting incidents activity.

I get they want to surprise people so they don’t escape but they can’t expect to just pop up unannounced with no way to know who they are like people don’t get burglarized every day

We have to find a better method of maintaining peace without the use of trigger happy individuals behind a badge. There needs more discipline. Europe police academy goes years of training including psychological therapy for their upcoming career. The one in the U.S. only does 6 months, you barely know a quarter of the law, and there's no phycological therapy for officers. Europe academy makes you learn the law the same way Lawyers do. So yes, American police are getting worse. They just want numbers. Not good officers.

Police have to be trained on how to act when called to investigate any case. This idea of shoot first and ask the questions later does not belong in our country. Police have to be more careful.

Those deputies, at a minimum, should have all firearms be suspended for years if they want to continue to serve. Instead, it'll be considered an "unfortunate accident" with a now dead man, Senior Airman | Roger Fortson, wearing a patriots working uniform.
I doubt the USAF will allow the officers to get off so lightly. There's near infinite patience for civilian casualties, but an active duty senior airman getting killed is gonna have consequences.

In Florida, this is considered a win by the local Sheriff. The Deputies didn't get shot while being incompetent in their job. All is well in the Bizarro Land of Ron DiSantis. What a sad, sad State it has become. It's like living in a shooting gallery with so many scared little people running around armed and stupid shooting at anything that moves.
