With the Florida East Coast Railway (FEC) Unit Train (335) having a Snoot SD40-2 and "beach towel" GP40-2 for power, I was sold on checking out the Hialeah industrial scene. Add to that the impressive weather, which is the calm before Tropical Storm Isaias made its skirt on the Florida coastline.
With the Downtown Job (DTN) already in mind, it didn't cross my mind that I'd be able to film the entire switching operation at Trujillo & Sons, which usually happens in the dead of night. The train was delayed making its entire run in daylight. And the power for this job couldn't have been better!
Add some bonus action, including an extra northbound. We also get the Medley Job on the Medley Lead. With these bonus shots, this video continues to tell some of the story of the FEC's current manifest/"carload" presence.
Per some requests, I left much of the switching footage intact to allow you all to take in the awesome sights and sounds of modern freight car switching. I hope you all enjoy!
