Morning Buddy. Hope your ok 😀 Really good video on those two yards 👍🏻 You make really interesting videos with good simple and understanding explanation of what’s happening 😄 Those locomotives in red with a yellow stripe look like the old English paint scheme that was applied by Ed Burkhardt from Wisconsin railroad when he bought the English rail freight from British Rail. He named it EWS standing for English Welsh & Scottish railways. The name came from a rail enthusiast competition that the marketing people didn’t like because it was free lol 😆 I think the winner got a cab ride in a locomotive…….🤔 He really tried to revive the English rail freight industry but didn’t really succeed ☹️ He did modernise the locomotive fleet by ordering class 66 locomotives from the US 😄 Are staple diet of locos are class 66s with over 300 examples 😄 DB schenker the German state railways own most of our freight network now. We’ve seen a big uptake in switching road to rail and may it continue. Thanks for your fantastic videos on the US railroads. Stay safe until the next time cheers Stevie 😎🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Great, informative content. My wife swears she saw a black FEC engine. Seeing 412, I think that may be what she saw. Is there a black FEC paint livery?

No black livery though the dark blue can look that way depending on the lighting.

Behind the two 1940s buildings ( North one to be exact ) was where the New Smyrna wrecker was kept in the mid 80s. The track is still behind the building but cut off on the North end and the middle. And yes, I have been in the shops there getting some donated equipment from the FEC. I made the mistake of wearing a white hard hat though. Back then, those were worn by management personnel. Luckily, the shop foreman knew I was coming so he wasn't worried.

Thank you for this view of the railyards - seeing the various buildings and equipment and having them described was enjoyable to watch. I would also have found it interesting to see the actual tracks and routing ... one of those tracks at the Ft Pierce yard looked to have 10 switches in a close progression while the New Smyrna yard a track that curved in and back out to make several connections ... it was hard to tell if it made some sort of S-curve near the top of the screen or if that was a different track.

You can check out the track layout from New Smyrna in this google maps view: www.google.com/maps/@29.0119894,-80.9235429,413m/data=!3m1!1e3

@@RoamingRailfan I looked at that - while it does show the trackage it is missing your excellent photography and your insightful commentary - keep up the good work

I think the thumbs down are from several people who don’t like the way I talk and in terms of my Brightline videos, just don’t like Brightline.

As always great video!! Would it possible in the future for you to do a flyover of the Titusville Intermodal facility and City Point in Cocoa as well? Keep up the great work!!
@RoamingRailfan
@RoamingRailfan 3 года назад
City Point is a possibility but I highly doubt I'll ever be able to do the Titusville intermodal facility since it is located literally across the street from Space Coast Regional Airport so there would be a lot of hoops to jump through to legally fly there.

@@RoamingRailfan you probably could get shots of the Titusville facility, you would just have to pay for a plane ride from the Warbird Museum and film it on the downwind to runway 18! 😉
