We’re getting close to departure day on our 2006 341 Meridian for our trip on the Florida Mini Loop from Cape Coral to the Florida Keys.
Preparing and provisioning a boat for a long journey takes teamwork, so the Admiral and Captain get to work getting the boat ready. How much money will we spend at Costco?
Join us as we prepare for our 600+ mile cruise from Cape Coral, through Lake Okeechobee, down the east coast of Florida to Fort Lauderdale and Miami and finally to the Florida keys where we plan to explore the pristine waters of Key Lago, Islamorada and Marathon.
Follow the adventure of Captain Tom, Admiral Brigitt and our first mate Matey as we explore SW Florida and beyond.

I need to treat my freshwater tank as well.... It is ironic however that at the bottom of the treatment bottle after the part that says keeps water odor and taste free it says Harmful or fatal if swallowed!!!! Just saying!

I typically pour a few ounces of chlorine bleach in the tank. Let it sit a bit and flush it out. Always fresh and we drink water from our tank without issue.

Do you feel the Hull Shield has helped your bottom? For two months, the bottom looked amazing. I have your sister ship in Gulf Harbour and have a diver on the boat once a month. AM thinking about putting Hull Shield on my boat. I called the company about your videos before they sent you the additional equipment.

I saw your boat and got it on video when we went to Gulf Harbor for the BoatUS fuel discount video. The jury is still out on the hull shield. At the point I have hull shield on one boat and not the other. They are right next to each other with new paint jobs. Time will tell and I’ll let you know. Make sure you have good paint applied. We are in the worst area for hull growth. Warm salty waters. I used Micron Extra SPC

I like your videos and watch them regularly but I find you're diminishing the actual loopers who endure a lot of situations by you calling this The Loop instead of what everyone else calls it a trip or vacation. Yes you may cash in on some clicks an subs but I think it will harm your channel in the long run.

It’s called the Florida mini loop. There is also a mini loop in the Northeast. It’s common knowledge among loopers and part of the main loop.

I know you want to keep light on your trip but I suggest one extra item. Your trip can be ruined without it. Bring a second anchor and rode ready to throw in a a number of worst case scenarios. . A Dansforth with the short chain and most if not all of your old anchor line in a laundry basket. Even if it is the stern anchor you use on the Regal. You gotta make room for it in the lazarette. Having my second anchor saved us from certain disaster in a Buzzard's Bay passage one year. Both engines died (bad fuel) windlass wiring short, drifting toward the shoals and rocks with Boat U.S. 30 minutes away. Have fun!

Got it covered Cap! We have a large spare fluke anchor with chain in the lazaret. Typically used as a stern anchor but can be used in an emergency at the bow. You can see it tucked away in out lazaret
