175 miles sw of Destin onboard "You Never Know" we catch a 827 pound Bluefin. Fish fought super hard for about 2 hours then died after a big run.
The fish is probably a Florida state record.
Extraordinary Appreciation from the crew goes out to the Turner Family!

my grandfather said back in the 40s when he was about 18.hed go out of tampa bay in late spring 100 miles out.and see schools of bluefin tuna attacking dolphin schools.he said looked like bombs going off.a shame there so endangered

Jim Meisch yea bro it’s insane how different fishing was back then. If only ppl at the time realized how much the unregulated commercial fishing was hurting fish populations. People were pulling in thousands and thousands of pounds of fish in short amounts of times. Something we probably will never see again.

Also lots of Selenium, which cancels out the absorb-able Methyl Mercury. Perfectly safe.

Im not sure...they grow non stop until death. There is no limit on how big they can get. My best guess is 10 yr old.

I'm not a vegan or tree-hugging hippie by any means, but I kinda feel bad for the pain that fish went through.
@fishinfool3795
@fishinfool3795 4 года назад
They do not feel pain. They lack the necessary brain size and development to be able to experience pain. That's scientifically proven.
@321gates
@321gates 4 года назад
Think about it. If a fish felt pain, there is no way they would be able to fight like they do. They would submit much faster.

Definitely could tell you guys are from florida lol big fish are hoisted tail first.not saying anything at all bad about your crew but leave the big bluefins to the new England fishermen.tight lines guys great job as always

Even when you're hoisting it on the dock from the boat always start with the tail first boys
@nickleback3695
@nickleback3695 2 года назад
No offense but they fight like shit (relative to warmer waters) up north because of the cold water. You haven't fought a real tuna if you fight them in new England.

If these guys were true fishermen, they would have known to bled the fish before bringing it into the boat, to lower it's temp.

@GoldenGirl0670
@GoldenGirl0670 4 года назад
Meat is shit... Didn't bleed it and no ice to pack it with. That fish started spoiling the moment it got on deck
@wanaqke
@wanaqke 4 года назад
Your 100% wrong! That meat was handled perfectly and we ended our three day trip after 4 hours fishing and steamed home 150 miles just to keep meat in top condition. Moreover, the fish Died during the fight, if you actually watch video, in deep cool water so it was chilled when hit the deck.
