Florida veteran claims US recruited him into military under false promises [REACTION] 

I served in combat in Iraq 2003 and we had soldiers receive their citizenship as soon as we hit stateside. From. Dominican Republic. UK Cape Verde Haiti. If that Marine served country honorably they should expedite his citizenship asap

Immigrants should've be allowed into the military. This is exactly how MS-13 got USMC training.

I had shipmates who weren't citizens. Some worked at getting naturalized, others didn't. One chief petty officer with 22 years had never bothered to get naturalized. His last 3 months were a frenzy to complete his naturalization process, to ensure he could remain in the states upon retirement. I think his intentions were to return home with his pension, which would have made him a relatively rich man. His kids refused to go "home", because the US was their home.

NO ONE should be joining our military without being an American 1st period.

I have a few friends that were not citizens while in the Army. The process is a little faster being in the military, but it is not automatic. You still have to apply.

Not sure how the Marines did it, but when I was in the Army, I had buddies that were Filipino and Chinese. They lived in the US for a while green card and everything and got their citizenship maybe a year later while being active duty without being in a warzone. Just being in the Army for regular 3 years and they got citizenship. I have seen videos of other immigrant veterans in the same situation. It may not be much, but I think what a lot of us should do is message the Florida political delegates into looking at his case and others as well. Also, push legislation to Congress to get this issue resolved federally.

Maybe he didn't go through the process of becoming a citizen. He probably thought that he was just going to be sent his citizenship over the mail without filling out paperwork. You still got to go through the process. He probably needed to sign paperwork to get it expedited but it wasn't going to be automatic without getting the paperwork filled out. I think once he joined another county's military, he lost his citizenship in his home country. He should get his citizenship. I think there wasn't any follow up to get his citizenship by him and the military as well. Communication about him getting his citizenship was not the best while he was in the military. I know people who were promised the same and they had to fill out paperwork to do so. Don't know if he though it was just going to be automatic without anything to be done on his part.

You dont have to be a citizen to be in the US military. You oy need to be a citizen if you want to be in a job that requires a clearance.

Unfortunately it happens, but you gotta do your homework. Now I can say this about my Marine brother, information wasn’t as readily accessible back in the 90s especially after Desert Shield/Storm and the downsizing didn’t help. But if you served that should be a guarantee path to citizenship.

Hmm, first, we should always be open for people to join the military outside the United States to gain citizenship after honorable service. Second, why hasnt someone step in and say, "ya no, we aren't going to make our military look even worse." Then, just stamping it clear. 🤣 tag Trump in this see what his reaction would be.
