What can be better than working on a pair of your favorite shoes? How about 3 pairs of them (actually 4 but that fun comes later). What you do to the bottom of shoes is definitely art and no way are customers ever not going to want that. You do present a dilemma for your customers in that they probably don't want to wear them and ruin the art!! Really enjoyed the video, all three came out beautiful.

Back in 1991, I worked part time at a cobbler shop, and the owner had a Rottweiler named Mars. German breed dogs named after Greek Gods for the win! I did minor repairs and finish work, and worked full time as a shoe shiner at the courthouse, commissioned through the shop. Also, inspired by watching your videos, I just replaced the rubber heels on a friend's boots. One of the factory heels fell off, and she lost it. So I replaced both. It wasn't the most beautiful work I've ever done, but pretty good for having just a French hammer, a cobbler's anvil, a utility knife, and a Dremel rotary tool. And I've been using Master's cement for years, too!

I am having the best time watching all of your videos! I found you about two weeks ago and have been binge watching ever since. *** I love the way you talk to the camera like we are sitting in your shop with you, instead of you talking at us like a lecture.**** I cannot believe the life you bring back to these items. Especially the handbags, it's amazing! Now, I'm on the hunt for a used LV or Gucci, etc., handbag to get restored! It totally irks me the way people talk about having a bag restored like it's not a "real" luxury item anymore. IMO, for most people we save up to buy a luxury item like that and use it faithfully every day. THESE ITEMS USUALLY HAVE SENTIMENTAL VALUE AND IF YOU CAN BRING THEM BACK FROM THE DEAD THEN I'M ALL FOR IT! Like you say, "to each their own".

I like that there is such immense pride in making subtle improvements, such as ditching fibreboard heels for leather, add that to the actual skill involved in repairing each job. I agree. It’s called “customize”. That’s the work of art and I support it. It makes you different from the others, paying attention on details which I am looking for getting services done too, make customers satisfy and happy then they willing to pay even higher price, remember trying to stay “ No one can beat your work, not the price ”, quality is number 1. If you guys could pay attention on all the luxury or brand name products, they always put small details on their products to make it different.😉

Wow, I'm old. It doesn't seem like so long ago I could walk into a shoe store on Main Street, Johnstown, PA and buy as many pairs of Flosheims as I could afford. A pair of black wingtips and a pair of cordovan bluchers were mandatory as were what we called "Old Maines", a moc toe demi-boot made of heavy waxed leather with thick soles. They were my favorite but they went away along with USA shoe manufacture.

I used to do carpentry, and there's nothing I disliked more, than to have to tear apart my own framing. When things are solid, it just feels right. Between shoes, boots, slings, holsters, and such... I've burned through at least half of one 16oz bottle of the Bick 4 (I ordered two bottles). Haven't even gotten to my Tahoe's upholstery yet. Great conditioner for all of those types of items. I still prefer the Saphir Renovateur for maintaining an already cared-for fine leather good... but, for thirsty stuff, lovin' that Bick 4. Get healthy, and extra cookies for the Zeus unit.

I watch his videos at night. His voice is soothing to me. I just wished he had more (watch them all). I would like to know if he could do a case for an Epipen carrier?

Steve, you are truly a shoe wizard and my highest compliment that you are a true craftsman! I just love watching a craftsman at work, and you are one of the very best. I completely agree that the shoes are a real work of art when you are finished. There are fewer and fewer of people capable of even doing what you’re doing. I do think they would look better at the end if you had them bar laced with shoe trees in the shoes. Thank you for your work.

It's so zen watching you work. I can watch you restore Florsheim's all day. In fact, it's getting close to a day of watching now. :D

this guy is an artist. I have always worn wingtips and for my money Florsheims are the best. They last forever. I had a shoe salesman tell me that men that come in the store wearing wingtips will always buy wingtips.

You have a passion for repairing/restoring footwear that is unparalleled. I've seen the other cobblers on RU-vid and they don't even come close to your work. 💖⚒️⏰

We buried my dad in his Florsheims, he liked them so much. I still have some more pairs but I hate to toss them out.

You think they look pretty good? Understatement of the years. My father always wore Florsheim shoes. He worked at Union Carbine in downtown Chicago. I believe the shoes where manufactured in Chicago. We still have his shoes here. Memories! Thank you.

Its familiar tremors. My wifes family has it. Too much caffeine, stress and not enough to eat will cause them to shake more. There's a blood pressure medicine that helps with the symptoms. Not a big deal.

Thank you so much for sharing! I think : Art, joy, knowledge, pride, technique, experience are some ingredients to love our everyday activity and you possess more than these. Please keep this beautiful work alive as long as you can. I hope new generations embrace what it means to enjoy a hand made shoe or restoration. I wish craftsmanships remain with us forever.
