I loved making all the baby stuff, whether they were samplers or just baby designs. My largest project was a Home Sweet Home that was over our fireplace. Love your video! One tip that I have found to be invaluable with Dimensions kits is to use a larger needle (I use a 24) when stitching 4 or more strands. This helps open up the holes in the canvas, giving you less drag, fraying of the thread, and hand fatigue. I stitch primarily Dimensions kits and find them to be addictive. At first they were very challenging and intimidating, but they grew on me and now they are my favorite. Seeing one fully stitched, with the texture provided by the different types of stitches, makes it all worth it in the end, to me. It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea though. Great first flosstube! Gotta love a wip parade! I see some new-to-me charts! For your benefit, your friend, and the pattern...make a copy of the Lady of the Flag as your working copy then mark it as you wish and set the original aside. I know it's an XL chart...surely Office Depot etc can print it in portions if it's difficult to do in your printer.
I went and did this on Saturday after a few people recommended it and she has the original back now! Takes a lot of stress off me 😜 tho I may ask Santa for my own copy for Christmas because she’s my favorite fancy lady 🩷 thanks for watching!

Wow your bookcases are beautiful. You have your own library. I switched to a Kindle over a decade ago, but still miss the smell of a new book. By the way you can do a toothpaste commercial, your smile is perfect.
Thank you 🩷 I have a kindle and I do use it often. But the act of hunting down and collecting books just makes me happy! I have shelves in the opposite wall as well.

Hi! So nice to meet you. Welcome to the community ❤ I was also thinking about greenhouse of oddities but it’s so odd shaped that I didn’t know what else to do with it if not frame. At the moment I try to use as many wips as I can to ffo into anything but frames 😂 Love your haed, but I would change the fabric into black or dark one and just do Santa without the background. This will save you so much time. Also on higher counts you could try petite stitch, not a full cross, also will speed up the process
Great job on your first flosstube! Love your WIP’s too! I also have been binge watching flosstubes as I just started stitching again after taking a break. Work and life got in the way. I recently retired and have more time to stitch now. Looking forward to your next one.

100 percent yes! Or even a kindle, for when I’m reading outside and such. Reading is such a great escape, especially when I haven’t had adult interaction in a minute 😝 🩷

Love all the wips! I’ve had to add the Bookcase and the Lady & Unicorn to my wishlist now. For the dimensions kit have you considered restarting? Maybe getting a fabric in a similar background color and then you just have to stitch the beautiful flowers? Peonies are one of my favorite flowers so I’ve admired that dimension kit for awhile.

EEEK! I'm so glad you made a flosstube! Okay this is so weird, but we started our bookcases exactly one year apart! I started mine the same day in 2022! 😂I love the gold handle--I may have to steal that idea! All your WIPS are so good and I'm so excited to follow along with your stitching as well as your books! 😉💖
Omg how funny is that! I think it makes it even more cool 😎 I also am going to do the handles on the bottom drawers in the gold as well. Maybe even a few books have a touch of it on the spine or something. I’ve got ideas! 🩷

Great first flosstube! Glad to see fellow Texan stitching. I'm from Longview. I'm mostly a monogamous stitcher (I have only 2 Wips on the go) having fewer wips will allow for greater progress. Looking forward to your next video. How do you manage to stitch with children so young and when are you able to stitch?
My kids are pretty good at occupying themselves when they play or color or what have you. They are very independent, and have been since they were little. My daughter began walking at 7 months and my son at 6 months. They have never been clingy or want to constantly be held, and I think that alone is why I can read and stitch and do other things. While they’re playing outside, I will sit and stitch on the porch. Or when they’re playing in their room etc. I have a cousin with kids the same age and her babies are too clingy for her to even think straight, so I’m counting my blessings there. Tho we do love a good cuddle on the couch when we watch a movie or something. I hope that makes sense. 😆 Thank you for watching 🩷 and I think there definitely should be a stitch con here in Texas, because there seems to be a lot of stitchers around. 😜

Welcome to Flosstube! I am ALSO struggling with a Dimensions Gold Collection kit. So many of the symbols ask for 5(?!) strands. Just rude LOL. So I totally feel your pain on that. And I too am a huge Stephen King fan. I want to stitch the Stephen King house so bad! I'm trying to finish the Chopping Mall first (another Witchy Stitcher piece) before I tackle it.
It’s WILD!!! I heard a rumor that it’s going to be reprinted but idk how accurate that is. Thankfully my friend is willing to drop money on a pattern. I’d see it differently if the money went to the artist (aka Nora Corbett) but otherwise, it’s not in my budget right now
Hey Beth! Glad I came across your FlossTube. I too am stitching The Stephen King House. I’m an avid reader and my husband’s favorite author is Stephen King. I’m currently reading Misery. I’ve only read a handful of his books but I’m trying to consume more. I look forward to more of your videos! I want to stitch something that tracks my books read … Wouldn’t that be so fun?!
I do that with all my charts as I am a paper gal as well. I also use a water soluble pen which comes off with water, its blue. In case I mark my fabric rather than the chart- by mistake when I'm tired, I can easily remove the mark with water. I learned my lesson using highlighters around my handiwork!
That’s also so smart with the marker!! Sometimes I pop my hilighter in my mouth while I double count and have had a tiny mark appear. Thankfully some stitches covered it but definitely going to buy some of those markers! Thank you so much for the tips! 🩷
Definitely an adjustment, because I worked from high school until I had my second child. BUT we will eventually get all stocked up 😆 thank you for watching 🩷
If you really like that dimensions kit but dont want to use the 3 or 4 strands just use 2 strands. It's still going to be pretty . That's what I would do.
I thought about that but because I’ve done so many already, the background wouldn’t blend because part would look bulky where I’ve already done the four strands. Idk I may try it but it’s super annoying lol
I was gonna say that you don't have to use as many strands as they say in Dimensions kits, but someone got there first! If you want to stitch Mirabilia Queen of Freedom let me know, I'll send the chart over
Yes, I wish I knew beforehand and I would have altered it before I stitched a whole section in it. 😩 because it is a beautiful kit. And I would LOVE to stitch Queen of Freedom 🇺🇸 I am such a nerd for American history so the flag patterns are the ones that call to me the most. ❤️
Hi Beth! So what's your fav Stephen King book represented in the Witchy Stitcher piece and which is your favorite that's not on there? I'm working on her Universal Monster SAL right now and that roof is killing me 🥲 If you need an audiobook while you stitch can I rec Micheal C Hall's reading of Pet Semetary??? It is. one of my all time fav audiobooks, his voice just adds this whole extra level of. dread.
I’ve listened to Pet Semetary last year with my book club, and agree it’s amazing! My favorite King book in general is Misery, but I think it’s mostly because it was my very first King. One I would have love to see included would probably be 11/22/63 possibly. I absolutely love that one! Or even Rose Madder (unpopular opinion with that one)

No way!! I’m like 5 streets down from 3 Stitches. I just started going to the Saturday Stitchers group and I LOVE IT! We meet the second Saturday of every month 12:30-4:30pm but you can come and go as you please.

Sounds good! Now the owner, Pam is a bit rough around the edges, so just fair warning. Another great stitching shop in our area in ABC Stitch but they have more complicated hours because they are off of 1960, and in an office building which is no longer open on the weekends… but they are super friendly. However, because of the management restrictions, they don’t have and stitching group meet ups.
I think the different thickness levels gives it a gradient look. Had I known I hated it, I would have just done it in two strands and called it a day. But I’ve already done a lot with the four strands and if I stop it will have thicker spots I believe
@MorvantMade I've wanted to start full coverage, but I'm afraid I'll hare it with all the differences in thread amounts. Are HAED patterns the same as dimensions in that way?
Poor dimensions piece! If you really don't like working on it, then by all means make it a UFO. But, you could absolutely just not stitch the background. I think it would still look amazing without it. Or, just use two strands of floss instead of three or four. Might lose some detail, but it's just the background😊
I’ve already partially stitched about 1/4 of the background so it would look off if I did the other portion thinner. I’m holding on to it maybe one day I’ll just trudge through the torture because it is very pretty.
