I (attempt) to do a tutorial on how I finish my cross stitch pieces onto artist's canvas and scrapbook paper. The next time I do this I am going to film the entire process, meaning the cutting of everything, so you can see how I do it.
Mat board I purchased on Amazon ~ www.amazon.com...

This video was so helpful. It’s also nice to see a ‘real’ person doing this because if it’s too slick and perfect I just think, oh, I couldn’t do that. You made it very clear and easy to understand and I feel like I can do it, so I’m going to. These videos must take an awful lot of effort and I for one am very, very grateful. Thank you.

This looks totally do-able and I'm going to try it. Vonna's tutorials are great, but I find with my lack of skill they don't always turn out as gorgeous as hers. This seems so simple (and cheap!). Bet you won't even notice the two wrinkles on the paper when it's hanging up.

Also, is the paper on scrapbook dot com a thicker, higher quality paper than the stuff at Joann's and Michael's? Or is it more the huge variety?
@Stitcherista
@Stitcherista 7 лет назад
I just think it depends on the company that makes the paper. Because not all of the paper I have ever received from scrapbook.com has been very thick. I just love that website because you can buy paper and stickers and stuff that all comes from one line, so it's all coordinated. And they have a HUGE selection compared to Michaels or AC Moore or Joann's.

I love this tutorial! It was both informative and entertaining! Seriously, I'm going to try this. I do have a question though. The paper you used to cover the canvas looked thick and stiff like poster board or card stock. Was it? Thanks for posting this and all your other videos. I do enjoy watching!

You did great. I love it. Two questions: what are your thoughts on using double sided sticky tape to attach the scrapbook paper to the canvas instead of spray tacky glue? Also, what about using felt that has the sticky already on the back...do you think that will hold up ok? I have used this kind of felt for the backs of paper dolls I make. I can tell you that that sticky back is strong once it is in place.
@Stitcherista
@Stitcherista 7 лет назад
Danette J50 yes, double sided sticky tape would work. Just make sure to get it right to the edge of the paper.
@Stitcherista
@Stitcherista 7 лет назад
Danette J50 and felt that already has a sticky back would work. I just don't use it because it does not come in as many colors as the regular felt.

Karen Benton I do not tie a knot. I run my needle and thread under a few surrounding stitches on the back.

I know that this is an older video and I just watched it for the third time. I have watched your video on putting your diamond painting in a portfolio. I am planning on trying that, but last night I came across some older cross stitch pieces and was wondering how I could put them in a portfolio. I actually bought the wrong size portfolio for diamond paintings so that is why I thought of putting cross stitch in it. Do you think that would be tutorial that you could figure out how to do it?
@Stitcherista
@Stitcherista 5 лет назад
You could do the same concept as I show putting the cross stitch on canvas. First wrap your stitched piece around mat board. Then you could adhere scrapbook paper and felt to the portfolio page and then put your stitched piece around the mat board on top of all that.

Great video you are so creative! How do you keep your cross stitch clean in this type of framing do you put a finishing spray on it? Like scotch guard?
@Stitcherista

I don't put anything on it. My pieces stay relatively dust free. I have lightly run a lint roller over the stitched piece on occasion.
