Liz, you did such a beautiful job with your little stocking finish! And thank you for not only posting the link to the pattern but also the link to my Flosstube! So grateful. And love watching you and your Mom together.
I always enjoy catching up with Sissy! Beautiful quilts and she has inspired me to get going on finishing and starting a new one! Enjoy your Alaska trip! I enjoy seeing your knitting Liz. It’s beautiful! Happy crafting to you both!
Way to Go ladies! Yes, I too have drifted off with my crochet hooks and wake up diving into my crochet projects. I think it is healthy because it adds to my happiness! Be well and have Fun!
Wonderful to see Sissy enjoying a quilting life...her quilts are beautiful...Liz, love your bags, ornament finishing, and knitting...beautiful jobs...thanks so much for sharing it all...best wishes for you guys and happy stitching ❤❤
Great video, Liz, and it was so nice to see your mom. Your mom's quilts are amazing - and so many! I love your knitted projects and of course, your stitching is beautiful as always. Thank you for another wonderful video.
Go to Missouri star from August 17,2010 and watch the exploding block. It is the block your Mom is talking about for the skates. It is fun and easy. Tell Mom I said happy sewing. Thanks for the videos. Elizabeth
Always love your videos, Liz. And always love it when your mom comes to visit. Actually I enjoy your entire family. You're so fortunate to have such a close knit (ha!) family that loves to craft. Hope your folks have a lovely trip to Alaska! Take care.🤩
It's always fun to watch a video with your Mom joining you! You are both so talented! The quilts were beautiful & I love your hot pink socks, can't wait to see your sweater! Have fun at the Attic & enjoy the Alaska cruise!
Great video, that has me wanting to make all kinds of things!! I love the quilt of Lori Holt’s that you shared at the end of the video!!! I have all of her books and several fat quarter bundles!! Your mom has been so busy (I feel very lazy now 😂) with all of her quilts!! Thanks ladies for sharing with us all of your projects, I really enjoyed all of this video!!!😍
I love watching your videos really enjoyed watching you and your mom beautiful projects will be watching your tutorials thank you for sharing so much fun.
Hey Mom! You are going to LOVE the Alaskan cruise! I went on a 7-day one some time back on the Princess Diamond and my souvenir was a pair of diamond earrings purchased in Skagway.
I adore, hedgehog fibers. My stash is almost exclusively her Fibres. She’s got free patterns on her website and I’ve made the scarf/Shawl called Outline. It is a great pattern for using up leftovers, or for using any of her skeins. Outline is a fantastic, easy repeat it’s a super travel project. You and your mom are adorable. I love all the content!
Love watching the two of you. Your mum sure is a prolific quilter. Your lucky to have a crafty family. The little freebie stocking last episode i couldn't access and noticed a lot of people saying the same. I really wa Ted to do it. Happy crafting. 🇦🇺❤
I love your youtube and all the things you showed especially the material. When I had cats, I would put up my Christmas tree, with nothing on it for a week before I decided to put ornaments on it. Everything that wouldn't break I would put on the lower branches when I did decorate.
Sissy is a power quilter! Enjoy your cruise! My local quilt shop owner is going on an Alaska cruise next week too!! I have done about a dozen cruises, but not to Alaska, I head to the warmer climate for winter my winters 😂 Always enjoy your RU-vid videos. Happy Stitching in whatever forum you do!
Sissy, you’ll have to let us know all about your trip when you get back. My husband and I are going for our 30th anniversary. Your quilts are awesome. Love the hot pink sweater Liz. Have a great week!
I love when your Mom joins you. She is such a prolific quilter. I'm enjoying your knitting obsession too, makes me feel a little better about not splitting up my crafty time like I think I should.
It was so great to see you and your mom, Liz!! I cannot believe how many beautiful quilts your mom has made it such a short time!!! They are amazing! Your socks are so cool! Thanks as always and happy stitching!
Always a fun video when your mom or one of your sisters joins in. I think the 'chicken salad' quilt would be fun using Lori's Vintage Christmas book -- in an effort to reduce my over flowing stash of Christmas fabric. Stay cool. Cheers!
There is a quilt store in Ketchikan. It's in a little shopper's mall on the second floor across from the cruise dock. :) Enjoy your cruise! You two are so talented!!
I feel your pain with not having a Christmas tree. I have had them 2 years and first year did not have a tree. Last year I bought 20 scat mats on Amazon. It worked for awhile but then they just ripped the thin plastic sheets. Ended up taking tree down day after Christmas. Both have claws and they tear up everything! If you find something that works please share on your channel.
Your quilts are stunning! I love every single one of them. It is true that the more you know about sewing, the more you realize how much you don't know! I am so excited that you are knitting again! I'm super excited about your knitting RU-vid videos. More Liz!!! The line and magnifier on the needle gauge are for determine your gauge. That line sits on a row of stitching and the magnifier just makes it easier to see how many stitches you have. It's really handy. Have a great trip, Sissy! Have a wonderful couple of weeks, Liz!!
A word about the threads for “Peace on Earth Sampler” by Cottage Garden Samplings, there are three threads you may need multiple skeins. I started at the bottom and had just a couple strands of Piney Woods left when I finished the bottom borders. I ordered another and it has just a bit more brown to it. At least I didn’t run out in the middle of one of the borders or trees. The Antique Rose will definitely need two skeins. I have just a couple strands left after the top border. I still have the big basket of flowers to do so ordered another skein. Hope the dye lot isn’t too different. Third thread I think may need another skein is the Chalk. Still a lot of white to stitch in basket of flowers so I went a head and ordered another. Hope that helps if others are stitching this sampler. I am stitching one strand of floss over two linen threads on 36 count linen. I was surprised when I started to get really low on the green and the pink used in the borders.
Mom... you might check. We were in Alaska,on a cruise, years ago, and two of the towns had stitchery shops. Bet you can check online. Have a wonderful time.
I went on a cruise to Alaska a month ago. Skagway has 2 quilt stores, Ketchikan has 1 and Juneau has at least one. My favorite was changing threads in Juneau. It’s close to most of the cruise ships so if the outing doesn’t go long, it’s worth a visit.
Love your stocking ornament! It turned out so cute. Enjoyed your socks, reminded me I have a pair started somewhere😮 If it works for you, I would love a knitting video to look forward to. Great to see Your Mom. You two are such fun. It makes me smile how you two enjoy each others company. Stitch on!
Liz, you are such an enabler! I say that in a positive way. Any way, I've put things in my Etsy cart and will let them marinate for a little while before clicking the "buy" button. I used to knit like I cross stitch and quilt now and, like you, have projects that I may pick up again one of these days. I love your old/new sweater! I noticed the increases immediately, and thought them to be a design element so, if they are obvious after blocking, that's a good excuse. One more thing. Do you own the Vanilla Latte sock pattern? It's no longer available on Rav, and if you'd like me to send you a copy just let me know. I designed it.
I love watching all of your projects! I think it is really funny that Sissy does not aprove of all the knitting 😀I have a tip about your problem with the sweater. You are knitting a rounded yoke (not a raglan) sweater, and the increases can be a little less bumpy if you make yarn overs for the increases, instead of lifting up the ladders between stitches to make more stitches. You then knit the yarn overs twisted on the next round. The visible line you have now, comes from the yarn being stretched out to make all those extra stitches. It will block out, but often not compleatly, depending on the yarn. Hope this is helpful. Love from Norway (we do alot of knitting, lol)
Love when your mom joins you! I find that I end up quilting less in the summer because I get warm under the actual quilt (while quilting on my domestic) and because it's not portable like cross stitch. I can stitch while my girls play outside. Lovely projects ladies!
Speaking of Missouri Star… For the quilt block Sissy described that she wanted to try with the skate fabric: there’s an old MSQC tutorial called Exploding Block that is the exact same technique! I’ve always wanted to try it, so can’t wait to see how Sissy’s project turns out! And - the one seam flying geese, there’s a whole tutorial about that from maybe 7-8yrs ago, and at the end of the video she shows that she used that method to make an advent calendar since the geese makes kind of a pocket Check it out! (Is it possible I watch too many quilting tutorials?? 😂😂)
I’m on the Norwegian Bliss on our way to Alaska now! I met Diana from Washington state in the cruise terminal and am on the lookout for more stitchy cruisers on this ship 😊
There’s a fun quilt shop downtown Skagway, next to the Fry Bread (delicious!!!) place. Lots of Alaska-themed fabrics. Juneau’s shop (in case your times change) has done great kits ready to go!
Fun Video. Cool items, nice JBW tip of photo copying the stitched piece. I'd remove that over one and shift it allow maybe put the Merry Christmas in that middle section. Go for it, 2 BAPs on Sept 1st !!! Always nice when you have your Mom as a guest 💕 I like the corner accent binding. Cool Bundles, yes FQS has fun flash sales. The October House Fiber Arts stitch up fast, and are so cute.
Your socks are so cute, Liz! The contrasting colors are so cool. Love seeing your mom in your videos. Hope you have a great time in Alaska, Sissy! Brilliant to use the clips for cross stitch finishing, Liz! I just discovered them and they are so great for sewing!
Brenda and the serial starter talked about doing a tent stitch for over one not to long ago and I have been doing tent stitch on equality sampler and it is a lot easier and looks good.
Great video, loved it all. So good to see your mom and all her beautiful quilts. What amazing amount of finishes!! What is her secret?? I can't get one a month finished, I need her advice how to keep it going. I love your very pretty barbie bag very nice. Glad you are having so much fun with your knitting but do miss your cross stitch. Tried to get in the Golden Needle retreat but now on waiting list. Maybe next time. I've never been to a retreat & I know it would be fun with you ladies. I'm also a Big fan of Liberty of London fabrics they are amazing. Can't wait to see what you do with those pretties! Thanks for the info on the scrap bags from Fat Quarter shop, have to look for those! Have a great week.
I’ve been watching you since the beginning and love your stitching and quilting but I have to say I LOVE the knitting segment! I stitch and quilt but the sewing room is FULL of bins of yarn-from years ago-I’m enthusiastic again for knitting-who says we can’t do it all!❤❤❤
Yes!! I had all my knitting stuff in one of those huge garage storage totes and now it’s just open in the middle of my craft room because I keep digging through it 😂
@@elizabethanncanstitch so fun! And I think a lot of yarn just seems timeless-I still love the yarn I bought for a charcoal wrap that that I never did make! Bought the yarn in Montana!❤️
We had the "Christmas brick" to keep our tree upright with our kitties when I was a kid. It was a cinderblock wrapped in a Christmas tablecloth that anchored the tree stand to the ground. Maybe an option for you?
A very fun video gals. I did lots of smiling😁. Sissy, your quilts were lovely. Such lucky recipients! Have a wonderful time on your cruise. Liz, I absolutely love the Peace on Earth sampler. The colors are beautiful. I don’t do 1 over 1 either. Hope you decide on a new layout that you are happy with. I do like the square version.
Sew much eye candy today, love your Mom’s quilts. So glad you mentioned MSQC. When I retired I watched Jenny make a Jean quilt and that was my first try at quilt making. They are so informative and easy to follow. Some of her quilts I have made more than once. Visited the “Poppy” shop and ordered 2 of the Nibble Boards. Thanks for mentioning them, great shop. Have to go back for some of the scissors. Glad your Mom joined you today, Happy Stitching and Traveling 🧵🪡👵
what a great video.!! your mom and you are very inspiriring. I saw somewhere on IG someone do the pieced version of the LH quilt with figtree fabric. Don't know if you have any of that in your collection. But they have a lot of light blendy fabric. Just an idea if you don't like your Prairie. I lay awake and wake up thinking of my sewing (in a good way) or any project I am working on. I get it. There are worse things to be focused on :). Your stocking finish was beautiful.
So love it when Sissy comes and joins in with you Liz, just fantastic!!! Great video, such a lot of different things to see which I love!!! Cant wait until the next one and Sissy enjoy yourself sailing to Alaska!!!
I am cruising to Alaska too. I leave the 9th of September. I will look for you on that big cruise ship. Sew, if some crazy lady stops you it might be me! Enjoy your time at sea and safe travels. Oh and nice stitching too.
Another great flosstube. It’s always good to see Sissy. I feel the same way about the no-chicken chicken salad quilt Pat Sloan is quilting now. It’s cute, but it’s about cooking.
I am doing the Lori Holt Chicken Salad pieced quilt with Pat Sloan but am changing some of the blocks. I want each block to remind me of my Grandmother. Instead of the cherry block last week, I made a German Chocolate cake block. I had to modify it a little to get the look of the cake but Lori's patterns and instructions make it easy to make changes to suit your purpose. So good to see your Mother today. Love seeing both of you together and how productive you both are.
