Danielle, you just taught me what I will call a "game changer" for me!!! I loved how you showed how to knot and anchor thread!! I'm so excited to try this! Thank you so much! I have learned so much from watching your family..You are the BEST teacher!! Love you!! 😘😘
Thank you, Danielle! Two years later, and your video is providing me with the encouragement I need to have a go at my first perforated paper project. Never even imagined that I could use a QSnap for it either! Thank you for this great tutorial.
Just bought a wood frame with thumb tacks all around. Wasn't positive what it was, but this was at the thrift store yesterday. Really only bought it for a needle minder that was on it. It was only $3.99. Now I'm going to use your method to make some ornaments. Thank you!
Another tutorial to go into my Stitcherista "How to file". I have a perforated paper kit that I have been putting off trying ~ with this tutorial ~ I'm ready! Thanks for the great tutorial. I agree with the other stitchers ~ your are a great teacher!
I love using the tacks. I purchased tacks from Amazon. I ordered them when you did one of your tutorials and what a difference in my fabric. Rowena below my post is correct. You are my dear lady , a very good teacher. I have enjoyed all of your tutorials. I have been reticent about using paper but for sure am going to give it a go ! Thanks............
Great video. Thanks. What I got to stitch on is like plastic canvas maybe. It's a new kit that's out with Mason jars with Christmas scenes on them. It's gonna be close to fit then all on there too. This will help me get a lot. Thanks again
Thank so much for another great video. I would never have thought to put the paper in a Qsnap. What a great idea. I have so far only used the small pieces in the Mill Hill kits. For those I have found that trimming off the rough edges helps a lot. Other wise my floss seems to always catch on the edges. So frustrating. Thanks again.
Finally! Now I know how this cross stitching canvas is called! I love love love stitching on this and I’ll have to buy some more once I use it all up 🤭🙈
Believe it or not, I purchased perforated paper (8.5 x 11 sheets) and some patterns from a magazine (maybe Family Circle) way back in the early 1970's! I made several of the patterns and still have one that I did for my Grandmother of a harp and roses with a little saying. I would have been somewhere between 13 & 16 years old. Been stitching off and on ever since! These tips are really handy. Thank you!
Perfect timing for me, as I'm going to be starting a mill hill kit this weekend. Never thought to use my stretcher bars (that you enabled me to buy btw lol) but that makes perfect sense. My hands sometimes get sweaty because I'm scared to F certain projects up (sorry gross) and that would be a disaster with the paper! Def going with the 2 threads also. Thanks for sharing. Oh and that eye is creepily awesome.
I've not yet tried perforated paper, but now I want to! Gonna have to find those mini stretcher bars, those are cool. That eye needle minder, though... Awesome! 👁️💜
I have a question and you are awesome for always answering me... I WANT to keep a journal of my cross stitch items, what is the best pens to use that won't bleed? You are an awesome lady!!!
Another good tutorial to add to all the others. I tried stitching on paper once, didn't like it, the paper split in between the holes making it impossible to hold the thread. I'll try it again using the wooden stretcher bars, those I really like for the light weight, ease of handling.
Do you have any videos on how to finish the back of an ornament stitched on paper? I have just si your channel so may have covered it. I need ideas on how to finish my cross stitch to turn into Christmas ornaments please.
Hi! I hoping for your feedback. I tried my first Mill Hill Buttons & Beads and don’t enjoy the perforated paper. I tried the 2 stands because I love the loop method but didn’t like how the stitches looked. Then took it apart to try the 3 strands the pattern requested. Omg. I’m embarrassed…just terrible. Lol. So my question, would it look nice just using 14 ct Aida? I love the pattern and beads and just don’t want to give up. Looking for options. Thanks in advance. I know your busy but love your videos and you have taught me so much already.
Awesome video. I am in fact working on that paper making ornaments. Kind of different to work with but should be really cute. Thanks for the tips of starting out and doing larger pieces with the stretcher bars and tacks. Your a great teacher and I'm always going back to watch the videos again for a refresher.
Great video! Thanks for the great information, I never understood why or how to use waste knots, you made this very easy to understand. I’ve never used perforated paper, what is it used for (I know you said you could use it on anything but I don’t understand why you would use it over fabric). Thanks
Dawn O all of the mill hill kits use perforated paper. It actually is good for ornaments, especially if they are shaped on things other than a square or rectangle. The paper is easy to cut out.
Great video. I do have a question. I used perforated paper over red fabric and cross stiched my granddaughter's name in gold using a lettering pattern I found on pinterest. It is for the top piece on a quilted christmas stocking that I've made. I need to get the paper off so all that is seen is the stiching. I've soaked it and got the majority off, but I can't get it out from underneath the stiching. it is very visible. Any suggestions?
Ok so I have some Mary Englbrite kits. I kind of like the idea of perforated paper. Do you transfer the pattern? Or how do you center the pattern? Thank you!
I don't transfer the pattern. I just make sure I have about an inch or so border around the entire outside of the paper. Remember, the paper is only a 9 by 12 sheet. So you need to calculate to make sure your pattern will fit on it.
Great video, I'm going to try the waste knot method on my next Mill Hill kit. Just wondering, how do you convert a regular cross stitch pattern to perforated paper and get the correct size? Is perforated paper, usually 14 count?
Next question. Does the perforated paper only come on 14 count? I’m not seeing anything else at 123stitch. And would you still something that called for 28 count on the 14? Thank you for your assistance.
Perforated paper only comes in 14 count. Actually, you can stitch any pattern on the paper, as long as it will fit. You don't have to pay any attention to whatever fabric they stitched it on. You go by the stitch count.
Very nice tutorial! I have a question. Once the project is completed how do you cut the paper around the pattern? Is it best to cut one or two stitches away from pattern (outline of pattern)? Thanks!!!
Hey girlfriend - just a heads up that someone has taken a video of mine, yours and Pricilla and Chelsea and uploaded it onto their channel - check out hazarate flosstube - P and C reported them and I've left a comment asking for mine to be taken down. I'm trying to figure out how to report it, but the kids insist on doing Hallowe'en things so will get to it when I can.
My video was just taken down off that channel, but I had to file a copyright infringement claim through RU-vid, which took a few minutes, but I just did it an hour ago and my video has already been removed from the channel. So you should go and do the same and I'm sure your video will be taken down from that channel right away.
This video of your has been stolen by someone going by hazarate who is posting it as their own. They have also stolen from Pricilla and Chelsea as well as Off the Grid Needlearts. You need to report them to RU-vid. Leigh at Afton Farm.
