Jody, I’ve got to hear the backstory on the huge Alan Rickman. He’s fabulous, and much missed, but that’s a king sized statement piece. Also, I like the idea of a slick faux grid to establish your perimeter. I’ve done that just once, on my first long dog, though not in a slippery floss. That’s a good idea. Your Haed looks really cool, though I personally lack the intestinal fortitude for a full size. I love watching full coverage stitchers as they work through these complex pieces. I’m in awe of that consistency and perseverance. And while I’m not in the “don’t buy green bananas “ stage of life, self knowledge tells me I might not be in the “start a huge Haed with FIFTY skeins of a single color of floss in addition to all the others” stage, temperament wise. So thank you, for always choosing interesting projects, for not being afraid to do big new things & for allowing us to come along for the ride.

First time watching your channel. I enjoyed seeing your stitching and you talking about your scrolls. When you pulled out the arcade temp chart I thought that was great! Centipede was my favorite too. When you talk about vines taking over it reminds me of all the photos I took when I used to drive around West Tennessee just capturing abandoned and old places. The vines take over but they hug the old places and sort of give them life. I turn 50 this year. I don't plan on 50 starts but maybe one. Be adventurous. 55 starts would make for a fun Flosstube. Birthday Flosstube fun!

I enjoyed seeing your new starts and wips progress. When you mentioned the possibility of stitchers starting a lot of projects or large projects because it may help us to feel that we’ll have the time left to stitch them all, perhaps that notion is true. I have a large library of books and I’ve come to accept that perhaps I buy a lot of books because I feel that I’m buying the time to read them all.
@trixietricycle
@trixietricycle 2 года назад
Hi Lorraine, I never thought about that with books but you're right that maybe it's the same subconscious impulse. I like imagining what I'll be doing when I finally finish a big project.

Love your channel! Sadly this one gets me caught up with all your episodes. I always stitch in hand, but since I’ve moved to higher count fabric, 40+, I’ve found that it’s easier to see the holes and my stitches lay better when I use a hoop/frame, though there are some 40ct that I can stitch in hand. 46ct, the highest I’ve stitched - I do need a frame/hoop. I always roll my fabric to hold it (I don’t scrunch it) and I lay it flat with the front side up, and roll it so the front side is inside the roll, so that when I hold the roll, my hand is touching the back of the fabric. Happy stitching!! x Lynn

Love your flosstube and new starts. Go for the 52! I am anxious to see how you figure out the flosses and range on the temperature chart. I want to start one too. They seem very challenging to me and I have enough projects myself, not near 52 though.

No bumble bees in NE OH yet; it is still too cold. My sister is working on a full coverage piece. It is the only piece she has been working on for a year and it is still not done! It is Nightmare before Christmas Jack and Sally. She figures she has another 4 months of work. My hats off to anyone doing a full coverage piece! You have made some wonderful progress on your WIPS! I am excited to be the chart winner.

Hello this is Mary Ann from South Jersey you are such an ambitious cross stitcher you're right about nature taking over in our neighborhood there is a block that had trees on it and shrub and The ivy has consumed the trees and the shrubs and everything is dying on that block but across the street is a park the grass is green the trees are green it's just an amazing situation to look at and I haven't seen any bees yet it's the first of March I've seen Robbins but I haven't seen my first be yet thank you for sharing

Nice backdrop! He is missed. The thingy… with the magnets,,, you know two pieces of wood… its called a Poster (frame) hanger 🤓 I started small with my HEAD, but headfirst is an option too 😂 beautiful image! I have a few pieces on scroll frames, but I like stitching in hand. Yes ironing is a downside, but I don’t have a Flosstube, so I only iron when its finished.

Great video and WIPS! I must confess though, I had a hard time looking at anything but Alan Rickman! One of my all time favorite actors! I love the bumblebee hashtag, and will definitely be on the lookout. Some of my friends are already seeing the return of the hummingbirds, but I haven’t yet. We had sub-zero temps this last week, so it may be awhile.

I’m so far behind! Can’t wait to see your space invaders stitching up, and that scroll frame is really good! The wood screw idea is so genius! As always your stitching is awesome, but I am very disappointed that you didn’t discuss the Alan Rickman in the room 😂😂 Is he always up and I just missed him? I think about that movie regularly, for some reason (I’ve only seen it once), I feel like the ship not blowing up because it never got to 0 is an important metaphor about life that I simply can’t figure out because I’m terrible with understanding symbolism and riddles. Riddles are my kryptonite. Have an awesome week!

Your stitching on Mrs. Campbell is just gorgeous! Love it! It’s nice to finally see one of your dogs. What a cutie! One of my dogs is also named Charlie. OMG…! That carousel chart, full coverage… You are brave and or crazy! 100,000 stitches in black! I know I do not want to do that. I look at complicated quilt patterns and I admire them, but I know that it would drive me nuts and cause a lot of suffering, so I know to steer clear! Same with complicated Crossstitch. But hey, you were only 51, you got a good 30+ years to work on it! 😂 Wow, your granny squares are coming along! I never really took much to crochet but I have done a lot of knitting. Crochet is good for blankets though. The black is a good way to connect all those blocks. I have one on the back of my couch that has tiny little granny squares done out of wool yarn, and all connected by black.

Love the update. You have a lot of patience, I know the scroll frame is worth it but over a year 😮 I made it over to see my mom & the singer sewing machine. I took lots of pics. The serial # is AF 887781 so not as old as I thought. It also has a real nice wood cabinet, though I didn’t take pics of that. Happy Stitching 🧵🪡

Oh my goodness - I can't believe your HAED! It is utterly insane - and amazing all at the same time - I love the diversity of your WIPs - so different and such fun! Will be fascinated to watch your progress on all your new WIPs!! Jody - 52 starts is clearly the new you - bonkers - but we love it!! Btw - do you use Crossstitch calculator or the HATS equivalent to cut your fabric? - it is absolutely accurate and you can confidently cut precisely what is needed with no doubts - it would save you so much time - I'm sure you know this! I stitch in hand - I had to teach myself a year ago after watching Chrissy CrossHatch Quilts do a demo - what a game changer for speed! I found it hugely liberating to box away all my hoops and frames :) I am with you over Ukraine - so tragic - love as always from Cardiff x

That is a large piece of fabric with a character from one of my favorite movies - Galaxy Quest. Alan Rickman played an actor named Sir Alexander Dane who is a member of the cast of a fictional Star Trek-esque TV show. In the show, he plays Dr. Lazarus and has some of the best deadpan comedic timing ever put on film.
