Jody, thanks for the great visit…always enjoy your vids…we both love crows…we feed all the birds…for several years we had four crows visit, one had an opps and struggled to fly…then there were three…and they came back as three for several years…and because of the bird disease, we have not seen them back this year…loved your tutorial on your bag…your Singer is in excellent condition…great job in fixing it up…so much progress on your projects…wishing you joy and happy stitching ❤️
Loved the crow! I "rescued" one around ten years ago after it was shot by a BB gun by a neighbor. I took it to a wildlife animal rescue group. They fixed him up and released him back in the wild. They are truly magnificent animals and I learned a lot about them during that experience. BTW your dog totally stole the show!
Oh my goodness, the projects you have to stitch! You sure have a long and wonderful to do list! Loved how you modified the project bag. I have made around 50 bags; gave 22 to my sister which she shared with a friend, used some myself, gave a few away, and sold one to a blog reader of mine, but not once did I think to put a pocket inside the bag. Brilliant! I did make them different sizes - 10 x 13 and 12 x 14, then I took the scraps of vinyl and made little bags to put inside the bigger bags for a pack of needles, scissors, etc. I have a fabric storage room - yes, a room - and have been a quilter for decades so I don't get concerned with having scraps. I have bins of those! Ha, ha, ha! The was another entertaining video and so full of eye candy!
Thank you Patty! It is a long to-do list but part of the fun is putting the things together. The pocket in the bag really keeps things from rattling around too much and that makes me a happy lady. : )
It was like a comedy show with your dogs. I couldn’t stop laughing. So cool the way that you used the old black lace and buttons from the jar and especially your mom’s charm bracelet on the crow finish. I loved it. And I think we’ve all done an oops before. Enjoy your podcasts. ❤️🌹
I always enjoy your flosstubes! And laugh… your way of pondering something and then coming up with your project bag and wool appliqué cover is amazing! I am a little like that too. I bought “Ruskin Penguins” too. I loved the quote on the inside explaining the whole thing and think it could apply to life right now. Also like crows. I watch them fly over every evening on their way home to roost. Stay safe!
Thank you Nancy. I'm not sure what part of the world you live in, but in the Seattle area one of the collective crow overnight hangouts is just a few miles south of where I live. A few years ago I was doing some PT for a shoulder injury and the clinic is on the property where they roost and I captured some video of what that looks/sounds like. Literally thousands of crows doing their thing - it's beautiful (or horrifying I guess depending on whether or not you have a phobia - I don't so I loved it).
Thank you for sharing about the Ted Talk. Crows and ravens are fascinating. The way you finished the crow pillow with shiny things is just fabulous. Inspiring, too. It's got me tihnking about different ways to finish my projects. Lots of lovely projects and charts. My wish lost grew quite a bit watching your video. Thereygoing to be some oops I had no idea I ordered that soon. lol
Thank you Jacob, still a strong possibility of moving to a tiny cabin in the woods so I can blow off all of my other responsibilities and just stitch all of your patterns.
Your poor lab. We had a golden retriever that got a taste for bunnies as a puppy. Of course, as a puppy, they were baby bunnies. As she got older she graduated to full size bunnies. If she caught it she would eat the whole thing. We tried bribing her with food, treats, whatever to no avail. One night I came home and my husband had shut her out of the TV room. She was laying on the rug in the hall. I asked him what she had done to be banished. He said the “bunny farts” were so bad he had to run her out of the room and open a window. You gotta love the dogs!
Oh no! Banished from the TV room is a punishment no dog wants. It's rare, but I've been woken up out of a dead sleep by an especially pungent dog from time to time. No matter how hard you try to blend their food from one batch to the next (when opening a new box or bag) it seems to upset the digestive apple cart. We call it 'New Bag Smell'.
So.Many.Things! Enjoyed spending time with you again. Loved your crow patterns, also love Erica Michaels, the whimsy and designs of Barbara Ana, and all the great shares at the end. So oops I’m enabled again!!
Hi Jody! I just watched your Flosstube and I’m so glad I did. I’ve heard others mention you and how great you are but there are so many Flosstubes to watch now. I’m so happy I found you. You cracked me up at the dog fart situation! We’ve had Boston Terriers forever and they are known for their noxious smells. 🤢 Any who! Love all of your beautiful projects and future projects. I’m going to go binge watch your precious videos. Thanks for sharing.
Jodi...what a refreshing hoot!! Had a wonderful belly laugh...Crow finish is fabulous, I have loved Crows for a very long time we have a lovely murder that is so entertaining to watch. Oops happens to the best of us no matter the system you have in place😁 enjoyed seeing the Crow charts you have...take good care see ya around..
Thank you LaNelle. So glad to hear that you got a kick out of watching - we all need a good laugh from time to time, and I'm willing to take one for the team (so to speak) to make that happen. But MAN! It was brutal LOLOL!!
I just love you! You made me laugh out load about your dogs! I will be looking around and find a stinky dog laying at me feet.... most of the time I blame the hubs! I really enjoy your flosstube and all of your rabbit trails..Keep it up! From one Jody to another.
You absolutely crack me up! When I was housebreaking one of our dogs, I kept him with me in my office at work. This tiny little thing had gas that would singe your nose hairs. It was so embarrassing when someone would come into my office and get a whiff. No one would believe a little puppy could produce such a noxious smell…they thought it had to be me. (it wasn’t 🤣😂) Oops!
You mentioned the 'staging' of the props on the cross-stitch pictures as being impressive... have you looked behind you??? Your backdrop is always so wonderful, you have the knack of staging as well!!! Oops, forgot to mention, I have not stitched anything spooky, Halloweeny or the like, but all these crows and witch projects are so tempting to start!!!
Ohh wow! multiple times is what my daughter and grandkids are hearing from my bedroom....haha!! I love everything in your haul. and oops, is a pretty one I would of done that too! and I have just started watching Hygge Stitcher I absolutely adore her!
I like the dragon finish, very clever. The fact that you crack yourself up makes me smile too. I would like the measurements of your project bag. Ps. I received the Bee chart. Thanks so much.
You have so many great kits waiting for some love Jodi. I think that the pic on your flossdrop cards is fantastic and I’m sure you’ll have lots of trading offers. Love your clever use of the fat quarters for project bags. Well done on that and thanks for another great video.
Great job on the project bag ... would be very interested in a tutorial but know that's alot of work. Le Corbeau finish is really cute. The project carrier is so well made (love the applique) ... you are very creative ! You crack me up (and love that you often crack yourself up) ... really enjoy watching!
LOVE the floss tags and also the dragon....fabulous! Love the crow things.....OOPS, I forgot that I also love the project bags....see you next time. Interested in the Primitive hare stitch along....if I can find it that is.
Hi Hanna, yes let's SAL the Primitive Hare calendar! I'm pretty sure it's available a few places, let me know if you have trouble tracking one down and I'll keep an eye out.
You are my hero! putting the time & thought into designing project bags to utilize a piece of fabric AND fit your needs.... MAN!... I just made the bag smaller. LOL. Collecting all the Crow patterns ; I'll check out the TED talk, there was a PBS doc on Crow behavior & memory. VERY interesting, I think You'll enjoy it. They primarily concentrated on memory . At one time the government was/ might still be/ considering training them to search for terrorists... this was several years ago... Anyway; Another fantastic flosstube. Thankyou
Oops. I have also accidentally ordered the same chart twice. That must mean that we really, really love it. Thanks so much for the opportunity. Best, K
Oops--- Ok... all finishes are great but as usual I'm floored by how creative you are. That black bird applique wrap is brilliant! I may have to "borrow" that idea--- I will credit you of course! And your project bag size looks wonderful as well. I struggle with finding just the right size- and ways to use vinyl and fabric so I'm not covering all the pretty. Never thought of a pocket inside... "light bulb!" Happy stitching and thank you for sharing with us!
Hi Kathrerine! Please please use away! I am not terribly original but I am extremely influenceable (lol) and have been inspired by a ton of people here on FT and elsewhere. Thanks for the kind words and I love watching all your videos (talk about enabling!). : )
Love your project bags. I said I would NOT start making them but yours is amazing and it just might push me into this rabbit hole!!!! I also absolutely love and appreciate crows. Thank you for the fun 🤩
Hi Susan! They are so quick and fun (but yes making bags is a whole craft in and of itself and that means less time for stitching and quilting and ... and.. I totally get it). But we should have a stitchy day since you live so close and maybe we make project bags. I think I have an extra sewing machine (or 3) that you could use LOL.
Oops! I am late to the party, but I just subscribed, and watched this episode, and your bag *tutorial *, I am definitely a fan! Now off to watch the rest!
Will do! I had so much to cover in this one, but hopefully it will be a FFO in my next episode or the one following so I'll add some details then. Thanks for the interest! : )
I love your flosstube. We go to Paradise and now we need to travel to Sunrise. Michelle Bendy was right, of course, you're flosstube is wonderful. I will search for the Bee Happy design. Thanks
That’s really interesting about the old floss being like hair, I wonder if it is the kind if twist. Definitely looking forward to your future experiments! I think crows (and other corvids) are amazing. Great projects and I love seeing all the different threads you use. Anywho, great episode! Have an awesome week!
It just tends to not want to lay flat for cross stitch. I think it would be unbelievably beautiful for needlepoint, especially longer satin stitches, etc. I have since tried the 'buttonhole twist' and it is perfect for cross stitch, especially on 36, 38, 40 count linen.
You had me at smelly dog. Really like your personalized project bags. It is nice when we figure out how to modify something to meet our needs. I only have one real bag that I have bought and it is full of my charts. I'm still a Ziplock girl. I did however get some great William Morris fabric and will be trying my hand at making some bags. You are stitching one of my unicorns, Sally Spencer. It is one that I wish I had purchased when it was still available. I did message you on IG if I could borrow or by it from you when you are finished with it if you have not promised it to someone. Thanks for the videos, they always have me in stitches, pun intended.
Hi Sandee! I'm going back through my channel comments and some are appearing in the past week or so even though it they indicate being written a couple of months ago. Hmm. Nonetheless I do appreciate you watching and commenting and yes, Sally Spencer is spoken for already. William Morris fabric is so gorgeous, did you make some bags? Would love to see! : )
Oops I found myself shopping after (or during) your video, so far you've enabled me to buy G. Leger fabric and silks and now the Erica Michael's Be Like a Crow chart, I don't know whether to thank you or chastise you! -- Michelle Guffey
I really like your floss drop cards and thought it was a good idea to use “maker” in place of DMC so that you can split up threads. I would be thrilled to have some of your cards. I know it’s hard not to purchase duplicate patterns but luckily after all my years of stitching, I’ve only had one oops of a double pattern. I had to laugh when you said your dog was looking at the shelf. He’s probably wondering why you were talking into the camera. Thanks for the great video.
Hi Cindy, are you on IG? Send me a message and I'll get your address and details and would be happy to send some of my SSP (shameless self-promotion) cards out to you. (lol)
I love watching your episodes! I think we all have the oops moments…. Mine tend to be…. I buy too much thread or bring home 6 Rubbermaid containers home with yarn a friend was going to throw out…and that is how I ended up with too much yarn.
Awesome use of fabric and design of your bags! I LOVE it! I hate waste too so your design is really cool. I would love to see a tutorial for your bag. oops I did it again. I have bought a few patterns more than once :D
Thanks Geneva, I'm going to work on some type of FT extra to cover my process for that bag construction (just need to figure out the camera setup). Appreciate your interest! :)
Jodi! I'm back from the woods and am just getting caught up on all the flosstube I've missed for the last month or so, and I absolutely LOVE your two dollar dragon finish! I really do love it and I think it was such a smart way to frame that piece. I kind of want to get something started that would also work in a finish like that... Anyway, so good to see all the stuff you've been doing while I've been off the grid!
Yes, please provide the fabric measurements for the entire project bag. I would be interested I. Seeing how you managed it. I used Elizabeth Ann Can Stitch measurements last time and I think they are similar except she puts her zipper on the long side and doesn’t have a pocket either. Thank you so much!
Hi Debra, I'm working on a FT extra vid that will cover the measurements and construction details. Thanks so much for watching and for the interest. : )
OMG I laughed so hard over your dog 'situation' oops!! And I love it that you can't stop laughing.... cracked me up! I am awaiting delivery of my floss drops and I would love to swap with you!
Oh Bahahahahaha. I had to rewatch your reaction to the stinky dog. So funny. I have a stinky dog too.❤ Love the bag design. Been trying to make the perfect bag too and have a few prototypes. Would love to try your design. So yes on the tutorial! xxoo
Hi Peg! OMG it was insta-bad...LOL!! I love her so much but dang! I'm going to try to put together a FT extra to show the measurements and construction details for the bag in the near future, thanks so much for the interest and for hanging out with me!
Hello !!!!!!!!! I laughed so much with you and your dogs episode.....mine normally don't have such problem, but the the oldes sometimes eats and after that comes and bark to me and OMG the breath.....then I run for one of the mint sticks. Jaja I said it thru Instagram love your applique piece. As always I enjoyed your video.
Hi, Jody, you may have already seen this, but there is a YT video that a guy made of his black cat in movie scenes. One is the scene you mentioned. You can find it by searching for the phrase 'Jurassic Park but with a cat'. So funny, and really well made. The channel is Owl Kitty.
That was brilliant I laughed so hard with your dog we have three and often have that experience I do so enjoy your videos I learn things I see things and I have fun thank you so much for making my day 🇮🇪☘️❤️🙃Angela in ireland
@@trixietricycle I know it can be quite hilarious and I also have two sons as well as two daughters who have quite questionable food choices so sometimes the combination is seriously unpleasant I wouldn’t be without any of them though 🇮🇪🙃❤️☘️
Your crow projects make me want to dig some out and start stitching them. I just ordered one from Saurcy Girl on etsy. It's really cute. Glad I'm not yhe only one to "Oops" when buying charts. I ordered some stuff last month and when the order came I found I got 2 of one chart. Evidently I forgot to double check the quantities before I checked out! Kind of aggravating! At least when I buy duplicates at different times I know I must really like the nook or chart!
Another amazing flosstube!!! I really enjoy your content. I may have said it before but that lamp is everything!!! I love it!!! Oops… I would love to stitch that chart…oops. ~jeanne~🌻
Oops, I might have a pile in of patterns I bought in doubles. 😅 Thank you for another great video! I think I'll restart my Joan Sands, I'm not really liking my linen choice and everytime I see yours I just want to stitch it.
I promptly handed my MFE mystery September SAL package to my husband and told him to put it somewhere I wouldn’t find it. But also to, for goodness sakes, not forget where you’ve put it!!! Apparently there are a of couple un-given Christmas presents floating around lost in my house. 😬😂
Oops. Watching your videos so enable me. I did have paper and pencil and now must be off to shop. I am interested in a SAL of Primitive Hare calendar. I have been wanting to buy it, now I got a reason. Thank you for the entertainment, shopping ideas and fun.
The dragon behind the window is the BEST finish! I feel like I want to stitch a velociraptor now and put it in a window frame. The crow behind you in the frame (up on the shelf) … is it a cross stitch? What is it?
Hi Amy! That is a cross stitch piece, it’s called ‘Midnight’ by The Primitive Hare. I think I showed it in one of my first two videos 🤔 not sure which but it would have been right at the beginning of one of those. I love it.
Dogs, gotta love them, I was laughing so hard, it’s amazing what comes outta them. 😝🤣. Oops, even with the Xstitch app I still buy a double. Loved the finishes, especially the crow with your mom’s charm bracelet.
Love seeing you have so much fun with your finishes and dear old dog flatulence!! I would love to have the dimensions for your bag AND a tutorial. Hell no not to sell, but I love the idea of less waste as I do not quilt.
Hi Margaret, it sounds like there is enough interest in seeing the bag construction details that I'll work on a FT extra in the near future. Thanks for always being here, it means a lot. : )
Absolutely adored watching you! You cracked me up & that’s just something you cannot take for granted…. Laughter It was fun seeing all your “pit’s” Projects in Tow 😂 We love our little trail of crafting! I was thinking about that word oops 😬 and how many times I’ve used it in my lifetime. Just kinda there isn’t it, now we call it 🐸 Thank you again for an enjoyable flosstube xo
Hi Jody, Watching your video’s bring so much joy to my week. Thank you for continuing to entertain me while I stitch, you make great company!!! I was so delighted to hear a shout out of my brand new channel. Thank you again. 🙏
Thanks Samantha, and you are more than welcome. You don't need any help from me, you are hitting it out of the park (congrats on 1k+ subs!!). Can't wait to see more. : )
Hi Trixie, would really like a tutorial if you could see your way to being able to do one those are really nice project bags and I would love to have a go at making myself some
Hi Helen! Seems like there is enough interest in that so I'm working on a FT extra to detail the measurements and construction of the bag so keep an eye out. : )
"I'm working through it" LOL! I was cracking up. I would call your project bag a Smart Project Bag. I am just learning to sew and make project bags. I have so far 3 wonky ones-OOPS- but they work. I love the idea of a floss ring holder. Would love a tutorial on how you make it!
LOL it was so instantly bad! Poor sweet Ella. She was just crashed out through the whole thing. It sounds like there is enough interest so I'll work on a FT extra to show some details on the bag construction and measurements in the near future. But if you are just starting out, go watch Jenn Crafts' tutorial (linked in the notes) - hers is my absolute favorite and she is a fantastic teacher.
Oops I do it often…lol So excited to stitch the “scream when you see your friends” crow chart. It just makes me so happy. Loved your video as usual. So glad there isn’t an option for aroma floss tube when your pup was expressing himself. 🤣
I am interested to join in on that SAL, and Oops, I need to tell you I am enjoying your videos a lot! I feel like I am at a similar level of stitching, experience wise, but I am not nearly as brave and creative as you are to be able to take it to the RU-vid level. Keep it up, love it!
Thanks so much, Tammy! If you had asked me 6 months ago if I had any intention of starting a YT channel I would have laughed out loud. I say go for it if you have any interest at all (or even an inkling of an interest). : ) Thanks for watching and I will be talking more about The Primitive Hare calendar SAL in upcoming episodes! : )
Oh my, thank you so much for the shout out! You showed so much patterns that I would love to stitch, I see a shopping spree in my future 😄. Until next time! XO
Hi Donna, isn't that a fascinating study in how bees decide when/where to swarm?? I was blown away by all the details. Really glad you are enjoying it. Glad to hear you're in on the Primitive Hare SAL, I'll post more info in the next month or so (maybe October?).
Hi Jody! I am going to dub this episode the dog fart episode! Having dogs, I know all too well the lovely smell they can produce! What was funny was how funny you thought it was! I am interested in the primitive Hare Crosstitch calendar but could not find it on our Etsy or elsewhere. Please let us know if you know who is selling it, and also if they put one out next year. Thank you for turning me onto primitive Hare, I was not aware of them and I like their patterns. I now know we share enthusiasm for crows, rabbits, and bees. I could not keep bees because I am allergic. I don’t think my neighbors would appreciate it either! But I do enjoy bee imagery. I used to feed crows at my university, and they would follow me from one side of campus to the other as they recognized me! I was sad when I retired that I couldn’t feed them any longer. And I used to have pet rabbits as well. I’ll have to watch your video and make a note of all those crow patterns that you have collected. I believe I have some of them too. You know, they do make eyeglasses that are clear on top and reading prescription on the bottom. Or progressives. Or you can wear those half glasses like Nicola Parkman’s wears. I love your floss cards, however I keep all my floss in dresser drawers. And when I am using them, I just throw them in the bottom of my bag. But yours are super cute, including the floss ring.
Hi Padma! I believe that The Primitive Hare (Etsy shop) is on a summer break until September 6th and after that you should be able to order the calendar (I hope?). I'll check to see if I can find it elsewhere before then. And yes, gorgeous patterns, each and every one of them. I actually have a pair of progressive lens glasses, but they were never quite right and I haven't been back to get them adjusted. Readers/cheaters are the easiest in most cases (unless I'm filming lol). As for the crow charts, what I didn't mention was that I didn't even scratch the surface of my Blackbird Designs charts with crows or ravens - that would be its own FT episode. Thanks for always watching and commenting, I appreciate the heck out of you. : )
@@trixietricycle Well I am looking forward to your blackbird design crow episode! Or even a Blackbird design episode on all of your patterns! I think I could do at least an hour with my Blackbird Designs at this point! 😁
New sub here, you've been recommended by several flosstubers. Love that you have long videos as I stitched along with your video and looked up when you showed the lovely stuff you have. Your projects are lovely and your project envelope is to die for. I love how you collect charts too. Very enabling. Stay safe Jody ❤ Oops! Is what we say when we make a mistake.
Thanks so much, happy to have you here! : ) And yes, chart collecting appears to be a thing I do. I'm to the point where I think it's time to look less and stitch more.
You can still do a loop start with 2 strands of variegated floss (any number of strands really). If you search 1 strand loop start here on the youtubes many videos come up. This is one I refer to often - hope it helps. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rVhhBPxeZ2Y.html
I have a stack of “oops” - it’s amazing! Most were last year when mail was intolerably slow. I would forget what I ordered. Then, surprise! I have a spreadsheet as well but don’t generally add to it until I have it. That might contribute to the issue….😆
