I show the new DMC color card and compare it to three other older versions of DMC color card!! Buy your own NEW DMC color card with the 35 new colors ~ www.dmc.com/us...
l'm an avid embroider and it still blows my mind at all the colour choices. l have a large 6 sided fold out chart 2008, but it doesn't have actual real thread floss. just a printed colour chart. So l was surprised to know they have them.aye! l was planning to make up my own chart in the new year,by colour not by number, so thank you, l'll check it out for sure cheers from Canada
I came to this video via google search. Today I bought a vintage bundle of tons of floss & an old floss card. I was trying to date it because there is no date on it, hence the google search. Mine is orange & says 6th edition, it looks just like the yellow one you show but mine only has 324 colors. I checked several ebay listings for the old cards & one said the 3rd edition was from 1973. I could not find anything on dmc's website of how long they have been doing the cards & how often. So, I still dont know how old this card it but I LOVE having an old one because a majority of my floss is from the 90's when I first started stitching. There have been so many shade variations over the years, lots of the old are not the same as the new so it is nice to know what the old shade color was supposed to be when you are stitching an old pattern.
Thank you for showing us this. I was interested because I noticed that some of the colors I've been purchasing lately are not the same even though they have the same #. I did read that colors were changed a few years ago due to the dyes, etc. I wanted to say that, instead of keeping my colors in numerical order, it might be better to file them with similar colors instead. It seems like it would be a whole lot easier when doing a project & trying to decide what colors to use if the ones you need might not be available. I'm learning so much from your videos! Thank you again!
I’m in Canada and have done a lot of searching for DMC at the prices mentioned in videos. Best price I have found for regular floss is 79 cents.... average of 1 dollar each.
Another interesting video! Guess I'm showing my age, as I have the first color card. Well, I have been cross stitching for over 40 years, so I'm kinda vintage! Haha! The new color card is nice, but I like the card with the loose thread on one side. That way you can lay the thread across the thread you are trying to match, if that's what you are doing. I have found that helpful many times. But, of course, the new one is updated with all the latest colors. I paid $6.95 for my card back in the day. Wow! The new card is pricey, but when you need it, it is great to have, especially for color conversion. Have a great day! Pam from Alabama
Thank you for showing these color cards. It was very interesting to see the first card. I'm glad they changed the format so that the colors are grouped together now.
Thanks for doing this video. I have been wanting to order the new color card. Never had one but I have been stitching since 1988 and have a ton of floss that I want to take inventory of and organize and also be able to do color swaps for patterns I plan to do. I ordered my color card from DMC. Cannot wait to receive it. Thanks again
Interesting items today, I’m really enjoying the informational videos you make, it’s something different, I will try and think up a topic for you in the future🤗
This is so awesome.I remember Mom had that older card with the loose floss. She used to sell...wait for it..Creative Circle back in the day. Timely video too, I had just ordered my card lol.
DMC shouldn't have removed some of its original colors 😔 and just use substitute numbers, I still have designs that has original colors in the key list like 3773 replaced by 407...but the design requires both color shades, it feels like I'm not enjoying anymore 😟
doing the gem paintings, I was shorted 2 packages of royal blue 311, I think. I will order a blues type of ocean scene and hopefully I'll get extra blues squares that I need.
I have the 4th edition color card. I believe I bought it in the late 90's at Michael's for $17. That's when I joined EGA and started stitching on other fabrics like Lugana, Murano, even weaves essentially. It's only lately that I've branched out to linen.
Dam enabler, someone gave me the color card with just the photo of the colors. NOW, I need, want, have to have the new one. Do you know when or if the new colors will be available in stores as single skeins? Ok time to order. Happy Dance 💃🏿 Love your channel and hope you slow down a little and get yourself back to good health. ❤️
Thanks for the video about DMC. Will you please compare the oldest 647 to the newest 647. It looks like it changed from grey to a shade of green. That was a problem for me until a friend supplied me with an old 647 that she had. Thanks.
Thanks so much, Danielle, for this video. I’m currently awaiting my new DMC card, because when you showed that you got it as a gift, that put me over the top - time to upgrade! Can you answer a question for me? What copyright date is on your old one? My old one doesn’t have an edition number, but has a copyright date of 2002. I’ve suspected that there was a newer one in the years since, although my cover is identical to yours. Thanks!
I've had a few of the old cards. Then they went for a while to the colors was just a gloss print (no floss) on the card. Now I'm trying to get the new one, but being in Singapore there seems to be an issue. IDK. I had actually made my own set up with a couple floss boxes and a bit of each of the colors wound onto the plastic bobbins. do a search for #notjustknots to see what I've made.
