I love your channel! You provide so much information and so comprehensive! The joy and excitement for cross stitching that you exhibit makes it really enjoyable to watch your channel. It’s nice to see someone who gets excited like I do about cross stitching!
Wow, you are like a fresh wind in flosstube land! So nice to see a younger crosssticher. Your enthousiasm is heartwarming and you are a natural on screen! Thanks to Sarah's Stitchy Spot who sent me your way ❤
Oh Carmen, I loved ever second of your first video! I'm 73 & have been stitching for probably 50yrs. I went to my first retreat 3yrs ago at the Attic in Mesa, Az. I could remember walking into that roomful of people & knowing no one!!! Then feeling the thrill of all the kindness & all the project kits we received. You are going to have a wonderful journey!! I'm beyond impressed with what you have accomplished in a year!!! Keep sharing your joy of stitching & bring more young people with you. I'm watching your second video & can't believe you stitched the red deer sampler in 25 days!!!!!!! Oh MY
Hi Colleen, thank you so much for your comment! I’m so jealous that you went to the Attic, it’s definitely on my list of places to visit before I die. It seems so magical. Thank you again for visiting my channel and very happy holidays.
Congratulations on your shout-out by Laura on Brenda and the Serial Starter yesterday. Your new subscribers will be coming fast and furious. How exciting for you. Keep up the wonderful videos.
I very much enjoyed watching your video and really love the projects that you choose. I'm looking forward to your next video and seeing your previous finishes. I'm only part way through watching your first video and looking forward to getting back to that. Thank you for sharing your time and your beautiful stitching.
Good job on your flosstubes. I’ve really enjoyed your Dutch sampler love and the ideas you have had such as the flexible floss rings and changing up a project with just a touch of silk. Also your discussions on linens are sooooo helpful! I’m newly back to stitching after a twenty year hiatus, so catching up on new dyers and what their linens really look like is difficult online. Keep them coming!
Thank you. Watching a loooot of Flosstube this year helped me a lot to learn the who’s who and the what’s what in stitching. I also came back to it after about a 15 year break
Carmen I loved your video. I will go back and watch your first one now. Your enthusiasm and personality shine. I think I am going to have to try one of Jacob’s charts in 2024. I look forward to your next video. I also wish I could attend one of your concerts and here you play as I just love the cello!
Another fabulous and inspiring video, Carmen! You are both talented and eloquent. My stitching passion is Groningen samplers - I have already stitched 6 and two more are kitted. You’ll love stitching the Soed Idee one. ❤
Wonderful! I love those Groningen samplers. For as much as I say I love them, I’ve only stitched one and it’s being given away. This must be rectified!
Laura and Brenda mentioned you yesterday so of course I had to watch both videos. Amazing and such beautiful projects. I agree that finding that perfect linen for your project is essential. XJudesign and Theresa from Kitten Stitcher (Wasabi linen) have some great linen that always works for me. Fox and Rabbit has beautiful linen as well. Your choice is perfect for the Dutch Sampler. I am so in for Charlotte, first of all I already have the chart and my Mom is from Scotland so kitting it up for January. I have a Red, Black and Brown Sampler and you definitely need those in your life. Thank you sharing your process and projects.
Thank you so much for coming by! I haven’t tried wasabi linen but the others you mentioned, I agree, are great! I’m glad you’ll be stitching charlotte too! She deserves lots of love and attention!
I watched your first video and was so sad that I missed the retreat as I live so close to London. Unfortunately I had plans that could not be changed. You did a fantastic review and to see number 2 flosstube show up I was so excited to watch.
Well Laura was right!!! Everything a Flosstube should Be. Just LOVED every minute of this and your description of your Xmas colors you chose made me just crack up 😂😂😂😂… by the way I love the colors! Your stitching is gorgeous and I love the projects you are choosing.. sadly for me I’m now off to buy more charts😮. Now I’m back tracking to watch the first one . I recently went to my first retreat and the. Was off to the UK for Nicolas retreat and I struggle to explain to people the absolute high I experienced . My heart was nearly bursting! So I get it! ❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much for your comment. I relate so much to what you said about going to a retreat. I’m also glad you appreciated my Christmas colours description 🤪 you’re the first to mention it
Love your videos. Your joy and enthusiasm come through and just draw me in. You also remind me of one of my daughter-in-laws in looks and mannerisms. I just received The Winter is Past on Monday. Love the floss colors. I generally only stitch one project at a time so it most likely will be a while before I get to it. Blackbird is a comfort stitch for me so I’m sure it will get moved up in my to stitch pile after I finish some huge sampler. I too try to stitch my floss down to the very end. Brenda would die if she saw how far I go. I’ve many a time put my needle in the linen hole and threaded it there or run my needle through the back threads and then threaded the eye before I pulled the needle through to end that thread. I think you’d have no trouble doing the # stitch along. You’re right, from what I’ve seen, you make the # and announce it and we’re off on the SAL. You can have rules or it can be open for everyone to do as they want with the stated #. Oh, when you mentioned Quilter’s Dream my head jolted up as I’m a quilter and that’s my favorite brand of batting! Looking forward to your next flosstube.
Thank you so much for your comment. It’s amazing how comforting blackbird is to so many people. I’ll be starting winter is past on January 1st after all. It’s also so interesting to see how many of us stitch to the veeeerrrry end of our threads! Yes, Brenda needn’t know anything about it 🤫 happy holidays to you ♥️
I had to chuckle as I always thought I was the only fanatic about making the most of my threads and my fabric. Nice to meet another frugal stitcher. And yes, I do the rethreading as well when I try the hardest to get the last two stitches in avoiding at all cost (!!!) having to use a new piece of thread. 🤣I love the idea about using two flexible rings as one. Congratulations to your second FlossTube; you are very authentic!
I love your ideas because I’m an inexperienced stitcher who would love more information on the silks also the different weave counts. Please, at some point in time (soon), include color palettes as I am guessing and trying to “translate” colors from the DMC palette to the hand-dyed colors and no idea about silks. Thank you, thank you. Glad you’re here.
Yes there seems to be a lot of interest in the silk video so I will definitely be making that in the new year. It’s really tough to translate hand dyes to dmc because of the variegation as well as differences in dye lots. Some dyers will include conversions to dmc on their websites which can be helpful and give an idea. I find that it’s a lot of trial and error though with some guesswork too.
I'm came here from Brenda an the Serial Starter's channel. So happy to find another Canadian flosstuber, enjoying your vids so far as you're very entertaining. Happy Holidays ❤
Carmen - I'm so happy to find your channel. As a new stitcher you have a fresh perspective and excitement which is refreshing. Thank you for continuing to make videos. Keep enjoying your stitching and sharing with me all your projects. Patricia
Another Canadian source that I've found very good is Stitch-it Central in London. Ontario. They have been great at responding quickly is something is out of stock. Trad Stitches drives me nuts when an item seems available and turns out is a 2 month wait. And they don't serge their fabric which Stitch-it does.
Oh my goodness, how exquisite is your stitching! Amazing how much you’ve stitched in a short period of time. Loved every minute I’ve spent with you this morning and will go back to your first Flosstube another day. It’s time to put my needle down for today. Thank you … for sharing your passion with us. It’s been a sincere pleasure to meet you. ❤
Just found you and I’m not much of a commenter, but I’m commenting for you. Your stitches are lovely! I haven’t made a sampler yet, but I really want to stitch one. I subscribed too!
Thanks so much for stopping by! You’re going to love working on a sampler, if I could only stitch one thing for the rest of my life, it would be samplers ♥️
When I saw you had a segment on GH 1857, I went straight to it. I had the exact feeling when I first the chart! I, too, bought FOAW wheat, very green as well. I’m leaning toward American chestnut but still haven’t started it. I want it to be perfect! I’ll watch your progress. Susan
"Marching orders" sent me here...and I'm so thrilled to now be a subscriber. Wahoo! A great and inspiring video. If you do another hashtag - I'd like to join that one...as I too don't have more than 3 WIPS. I want to enjoy completed projects not WIPS in bags! So, I don't know what the hashtag could be....but we need to unite and encourage each other as we get these things completed and enjoy them and have minimal new starts. Thanks again for the video! I'm encouraged!
Welcome and thank you for following “marching orders” 😆 yes, nothing compares to the thrill of seeing a project completed for me! Monogamous stitchers unite!!
Carmen, you are such a delight! Your stitching is a joy to see. I am glad to see you stitching other designers...had to laugh at you Brenda Gervais patterns and WHY you chose them! Good fun! I think as we get older we don't laugh enough, so thank you for that! Thank you for your gratitude. I was concerned you weren't going to do another Flosstube, but am so glad you did. Hope you will do many many more!
Well I have just fell down the rabbit hole for Modern Folk Embroidery! Your enthusiasm for stitching is so infectious! I thoroughly enjoyed both of your videos and cannot wait until the next one. Your stitching is stunning. I wish I could stitch as fast as you.
I’m so glad to see you are back after your wonderful first video ❤ I had to laugh at your description of how you re-thread your needle to save floss because that is exactly what I do even with DMC 😂 the finish of your Red Deer sampler is truly amazing 🤩 I’m not sure if you have watched The Paisley Stitcher before but I believe you should see her recent flosstube which showed Dutch & German samplers giving an extensive history of the motifs, like your video she is very informative. Thank you for your time showing your beautiful stitching 😍
Thank you for the recommendation, I’ll add her to my list of “must watch” flosstubers. It’s also funny to hear from so many people how common it actually is to use the thread allllll the way to the very end 😝 I feel guilty when I don’t use the whole thing.
Hello from Massachusetts!!! 👋🏼You are an absolute joy to watch!! Both of you flosstubes videos have been my favorite this year. I can't wait to see what else you create and share!!!
Love your enthusiasm! It's contagious. Flexible Rings for floss. What a brilliant idea! Thanks for telling us about that. See how much you have to add to the discussion in the cross stitch world! Glad you have decided to continue. I will definitely stay tuned. :)
So glad to see you do another flosstube. You are delightful, as you are so upbeat and grateful. You are a new stitcher, but have beautiful projects. I’ve been stitching many, many years butt love seeing new stitchers go down the rabbit hole. Welcome!
Another special video. Fantastic. Looking forward to seeing all your progress and beautiful stitches. After just 2 videos you have quickly become one of my favorites.
Another great flosstube from you so enjoyed every minute. Already looking forward to the next one. You too enjoy your stitching time and the holiday season 🎉❤😊
Hi! I just want to comment on what an amazing stitcher you are and such a great addition to the flosstube community. Have you seen the pattern called Dutch Beauty? It is big and beautiful and quirky. You may like it. Another Canadian shop suggestion is Creative Quarters. This is an on line shop out of northern Alberta. Great prices and wonderful service. (I’m not affiliated with her in any way). Keep up the beautiful stitching and the fantastic flosstubes!
Such a sweet, sweet stitcher! Your enthusiasm, Carmen, is contagious and your big love of Roxy Floss Co threads is really fun to see. Annnnnd … your stitching choices are beautiful. Carry on!
Carmen...thank you for sharing your joy of cross stitch with us...beautiful finish...I enjoy MFE's patterns...Amsterdam is such an exciting city with its beautiful buildings...best wishes and happy stitching ❤❤
Carmen, you are an absolute delight. What a wonderful flosstube. Thank you for sharing your beautiful stitching (25 days for a huge sampler?!!!!). That big butt dude on the WTNT chart is hilarious. Enjoy stitching him! Nicky x
Yes, Carmen - I have to agree with Nicky here: 25 days for a ginormous sampler?! Did you sleep? Eat? Take a month off from your job? Holy cow, lady! Very impressive, indeed.👏
Your excitement for all the things made me smile sooo many times ! And you stitch that in 25 days 😳😳😳 wow! Congratulations that’s incredible. Hahah I guess because of the man and his pants 👖 but when you said his butt I died 🤣🤣🤣🤪❤❤❤ great energy and looking forward to following your journey
Hello Carmen!! So lovely to meet you and enjoy your second floss tube (I will get back to the first one tomorrow). I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts about your stitched pieces. You stitch with such passion and feeling. I can only imagine how beautifully you play your cello❤. I look forward to your next video and watching your channel unfold. You have great ideas for the future episodes!!!!!
I had to pause the video to comment … I love it, someone else who is as frugal with thread as me 😂 yes I do the exact same thing so my ort jar is pretty non-existent… anyway I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your first floss tube and have just subscribed seeing as you will be doing more. Looking forward to coming along on your journey. Your enthusiasm is contagious. I’ve actually just started the Loose feathers series by Blackbird which uses the same colour palette and I’m in fact considering adding winter is past to the collection. Your perspective on colours is eye opening. I’m learning so much from watching you. Please keep going 🙏
Hello fellow frugal stitcher 😆 I’ve just seen an amazing finish of bbd loose feathers on instagram and yes, it has a very similar palette. It’s another series that I’d love to stitch one day!
You are a total joy. So glad you decided to continue posting on flosstube. Every moment was a delight. Pulled out my GH 1857 chart and am going to finally start it.❤
I love to watch your flosstube. You are so real and that makes it fun. I am so impressed with your work. It is gorgeous. I’ve stitched for years but struggle with linen. Any suggestions to make it easier for me to use. Thank you for your smile and happiness.
I don’t know if I have enough knowledge or experience to offer suggestions. I have often heard that stitching on evenweave is kind of halfway between linen and aida, maybe an interesting option for you if you haven’t tried it.
I just bought some and will give it a try. With time I believe I will get the hang of it. Thank you so much for the recommendation. Keep up the great work and the flosstubes. They are motivating.
I for one very rarely watch Flosstube Channels with two hosts, not even the really popular ones. I like the calm and serenity of only one presenter, don't like it when it gets really noisy and rowdy with lots of banter and laughter as I'm stitching along while watching (mostly listening). Your channel is great, please continue! Loved your projects so much!
I thoroughly enjoyed your video! You are so much fun to watch, never a dull moment and it's inspiring that you've accomplished so much in just one year. Beautiful work! Additionally, your repartee with yourself (lol) is quite refreshing and charming!
Oh Carmen! So glad to see you came back! I’m one of those that watch a lot of flosstube but rarely comment other than 👍🏻. I’m taking your advice and commenting! So great to see another Canadian, and a young one, on flosstube. I really enjoyed your first video on the Jacob retreat and was living vicariously through you. I’m your mother’s age but am too shy to go to a retreat myself. I live in Ontario so it would have been convenient but nope I couldn’t do it. So glad you’ll be coming back. I love your enthusiasm, your humour, your projects, and your style. You make me lol. Great videos!
Thank you so much for your comment! I’m glad you were able to get a slice of the retreat experience through my video. I was also kind of nervous to go and was really on the fence for a while but it was totally worth it. Happy holidays
Don't be heartbroken with a finish - there are so many more projects that you will love stitching, and you have a lovely selection lined up! You mentioned one thing I really dislike about online shopping - when a product is listed that is not in stock, and then the seller doesn't tell you that they don't actually have it or how long the wait will be to get it. That makes me never order from that company again. Oh well, lucky for us, we have lots of choice! I'm so excited to see what the mystery is in the Christmas parcel! I love "Dream of a Winter Garden"! Oh no - you can't look at all the cards!
So, I’m one of those people that watch a lot of FlossTubes but rarely comment. I’m trying to change that habit. I subscribed after your first one not knowing if there would be more. I’m glad there will be! I enjoy your enthusiasm for what you are working on. Especially enjoy that you’re doing some very different designs than most. I’ve been monogamously stitching one thing since March and am about to finish it. I’m sad it will be done but I’ve got lots lined up. One of which is a Vierlande sampler that I found in an old issue of a “Sampler and Antique Needlework” magazine. I like AKGIT but wanted something different than what others were doing. I’m looking forward to having a BAP as well as some smaller things in the new year.
Thank you so much for your comment! What’s your monogamous stitch since march? It will be so satisfying to finally see it done but I understand that it’s kind of tough to see the end of a project we’ve loved. I’ve heard some people saying it’s like finishing a really good book. It ends well and needed an ending, but it’s also sad that there’s no more left. Luckily there are so many amazing charts (and books!) out there ♥️
Very much enjoyed your floss tube. Your stitching blows my mind, it’s gorgeous Your red stag , oh my I really liked you explaining what the motifs symbolize. Your stories are fun and funny. Your reason for stitching Brenda made me laugh out loud I hope you keep making floss tubes. I like your presentation and your funny and your cross stitch is stunning. I want to see more. Happy stitching. Maybe you could play your ceiling on one of your floss tubes 🧵🪡
So glad to see you doing another video. I was hoping to see more of your color conversion and why you choose them. Your plans for future videos is fascinating to me and I look forward to seeing them and all you have to offer. Your energy and enthusiasm is contagious and I love to see the younger generations getting interested in this type of handwork.
Hi Carmen! Absolutely loved your video! Love your charts! You are a beautiful stitcher! Thank you for the awesome inspiration!! Also just love Jacobs patterns! Hoping to start his rose bush sampler! Thank you so much again for sharing all your ideas and kits! Love them!❤️
I found your channel after watching Sarah of Sarah's Stitching Spot! You two remind me of each other in your joy, your passion and total enthusiasm. I love it! I think your eye for color is wonderful and can't wait for so many of these samplers to be started at the very least. Looking forward to #3. Thank you.
25 days! That’s is astonishing and a great argument for monogamous stitching. It’s so beautiful Carmen, congrats! It’s so wonderful to see your channel get the reception you deserve. I know you’d have takers for that SAL if you just be brave. And yes, you announce it, you create a hashtag and you go for it. If you decide to do it, I’m quite sure you already know a number of us other Flosstubers who would be happy to promote it for you😉. And, I’d be joining you too. Not that I need anything more to do, but hey, if it keeps us happy ….
hi Carmen! You are just adorable, infectious and filled with positivity. Loved visiting with you this morning - wish we could do it in person! Best, Bonnie
You’re so enthusiastic, good job! I’m impressed that you have only been xstitching for a year but yet you’ve completed several stunning projects. Looking forward to seeing what else you will share over your next floss tubes.
Thank you so much! Admittedly, I learned as a child so I didn’t exactly start from scratch last year. But yeah, I’ve been stitching with a vengeance since I came back to it 😂
Carman you are a delight to watch ! Your stitching is just gorgeous, can’t wait till you start GH1857 you chose the perfect fabric for it !! Happy Stitching 🧵✂️🪡❌
Bravo Carmen!!! So happy that you decided to make another Flosstube😍 Your projects are so beautiful, great finish on the Red Stag, very inspiring... And so nice to see that I am not the only one who watches lots of Flosstube and rarely comments🙃. Can't wait for the next one, and for sure you can lead a MFE SAL😀 ton énergie est contagieuse, c'est super de voir ça et de voir qu'il y a quelqu'un qui comme moi n'as pas beaucoup de WIP. Bravo encore!!!
Glad you've decided to continue sharing with us. You've only been stitching a year? And you did that wonderful sampler in 25 days? Wowza! Appreciate the transcript too!
I’ve been back at it for a year but admittedly, I learned as a child so I didn’t exactly start from scratch. But I’ve been back with a vengeance ever since!
Wonderful floss tube ❤ Your first was also great. We did cross paths at Jacob Palooza. I'm who brought Engeltje Tjakkes sampler for Jacob to sign😂. Your excitement and energy for crossstitch is inspiring. I only started stitching in 2020. Can't wait for your next floss tube 😊
Oh my goodness! I can't believe I've made it to the list of legends hahah! I absolutely agree we could be friends :) Not weird at all! Now I'm super curious about all the other finishes you have to show. The beautiful part of flosstube is that no matter which stage of stitching journey you are in, it's a great one to join with others and grow together. So glad to see your second video and happy to hear there will be more coming! Till then, Happy Stitching!
Love your two videos so far. Very funny and entertaining and enlightening. I enjoyed everything and being part Dutch myself I learn things I didn’t know about. So good luck with your journey with youtube
You are too funny Carmen, I guessed right away (perhaps because I have one too ; ) I think I was raised to use everything up by parents who grew up during the Great Depression. So yes, I do the same thing at the end of the thread!
I think my frugality also comes from that. The woman who taught my aunt who then taught me grew up during that time as well. I inherited some of her old bobbins of DMC and some of the scraps she held onto are about an inch long! 😱
