I look forward to your videos each week. Enjoy the variety of projects that you work on. Thanks for taking the time to share your stitching with us. Moon
Ah! The fabric you chose for Ruskin's Penguins is fantastic! I absolutely love it. I'm really enjoying how the Ireland piece is stitching up. It's not something I'd have been drawn to seeing the picture, but the more you stitch on it, the more I'm loving it.
Hi Laura. I always enjoy your videos. About the box, I agree the presentation wasn’t great, but mine did have a sheet explaining each item and where it came from. I’m afraid yours must have been left out when they were packed. I have gotten several boxes from other places before, and what I liked especially about this one was that each item is useful for stitching. Most have cute things that are just piled in my sewing room because there’s no real use for them. And of course, Brandy’s fabric is always fantastic. Moon.
I've gotten boxes from Kimberly at Fat Quarter shop and you would love them. They're exactly what you said you would want. Unfortunately, they're for quilting. I wish she would do cross-stitch boxes. I'm working on June's Honeysuckle. What better day to work on my birthday piece than on my birthday! 🎈
I’ve seen unboxing floss tubes for Caterpillar Cross Stitch, and granted, I think they set the bar pretty high, but it seems as though at least some of the thoughtfulness they put into their packages could be instructive for Bestitchme.
Thanks for keeping me company during my friday evening stitching 😍 So good to see your WIPs every week! I am really surprised that there was no information in the box. I watched a lot of unboxings on videos and there was always a card that explained everything. Would be interesting that maybe yours was forgotten or if every box was like this. I can understand the disappointment but we should always focus on the positive and the content is great. Can’t wait to see what you pick for the red and blue fabric 😊
Thanks for the update on your stitching. Boxes can be a bit controversial, I guess because it is difficult to please everybody. Over the years of trying many vendors, I have found two that suite my taste and style. Both are Christmas though, and presentation is key for me too. Moon
Thank you for another great video. As always I am in awe of what you get done. I have received quite a few mystery boxes and have always been delighted with the presentation, information, contents etc. Your contents were gorgeous but I think it was seriously lacking everywhere else. Sorry about the Summer Quaker but I’m sure when it comes back from ‘time out’ you will get it sorted quickly! Hope you have a great week and stay cool. Happy stitching.
My favorites WIP of yours this week is the Ruskin's Penguins. The way the white and black show up on that fabric is just gorgeous. I am envious of all the progress you make in a week. Have a great week ! Moon.
Great stitching Laura!! Working on Summer Quaker now and so concerned about corners meeting! Praying they do!! Never have gotten a box before but I have seen others open theirs. Usually the presentation is way better! Happy stitching!!
Hi Laura. I always look forward to Fridays knowing I'll see your flosstube. I love the beach, too, especially with a bright moon. Have a great weekend. Enjoy your bowls and beach.
Just joined in your summer Quaker Sal with a small start on the Solstice. Thanks for the heads up on looking for multiple chart corrections! -Stephanie
Just finished watching this episode...trying to get caught up from my surgery . I was able to finish Current Mood while watching. Some forward progress!
Nice to see you Laura - and your beautiful stitching. I'm with you on the box - I would have expected at least a list of what it included and where they were from, and some attempt to make it special. I was stitching in my Hidden Harbor and then the Durene Jones SAL (backstitching June's portion) while watching you today.
I enjoyed seeing your stitching. I understand about the box disappointment and I do have to say that, like you, I buy what I like and expected everything I received to fit my taste. I have learned to wait for the boxes to come out and if there is a pattern that I love then I will get it when it is released. The other things I can just search and buy. Thanks for keeping me company while I stitched on Summer ABCs by little house needleworks. Moon Jacque 🪡🪡🪡
I don’t think mystery boxes are for me either. I’m not big on surprises and want to know what I’m spending my money on. I love watching your full coverage pieces develop as you stitch them. The colors are all so pretty. Moon
I’m not sure if this helps with the Summer Quaker or you’ve got it figured out already, but I too got cruising along with that right side, and “eventually” realized that there’s an extra stitch (3 stitches instead of 2) between where the tip of the fourth piece of seaweed ends and the fifth piece begins, counting from the bottom up. It looks amazing, and I wish I’d had the patience to wait and dye my fabric rather than “having” to stitch in the sky to be happy with it.🙄☺️
I completely understand your expectations, I too would have at the very least wanted a list of what was in the box and where it came from. I had a disappointing experience with Be Stitch Me fabrics. So at least for me, that is a company I will not frequent.
We all need a break from projects giving us grief. The first time I heard someone say they put their project in "time out", I cracked up laughing. It is a very appropriate term for it. 😊
For the Ireland stitch, it would be easier to get the page turn accurate when though stress if you pop it into pattern keeper. So far all of my Etsy pdfs have gone in without difficulty. See you Sunday at Sandis zoom.
I'm glad RU-vid played nice today with your video. You mentioned a problem with your original start - you need to do a blooper reel like the Hathaway Stitchers 😂. About your Summer Quaker, have you checked, double checked and triple checked that your corner isn't going to meet up. You don't know the number of times I've frogged, only to find out I miscounted my empty spaces. I understand though that misbehaving projects need timeouts though. Good luck.
Laura, the penguins are so cool! You are such an enabler just by showing your stitching! 💜💜💜 MOON . You have made some great progress this past week. I am sorry about the need for time out on the Summer Quaker but I have faith that you will get it fixed once there is some distance between you and the problem . That box was not what I would expect for anything. Even a list of vendors/contributors would have been helpful. Maybe you should contact the company and give them your constructive criticism. Wishing you good weather for the weekend and fun stitching time.
Thanks for sharing your lovely stitching. I just finished a Diamond Dot, enjoyed it. If you want to try another box Gayron has very nice Halloween and Christmas ones. It was very hot here, thankfully it cooling off. Have a good week! 😊🪡
Hi Laura! I'm so sorry your Summer Quaker border isn't matching up. That's so frustrating. Give it a rest, and maybe you'll be able to find the error with fresh eyes. I'm looking forward to seeing all of the ATCs! I never knew diamond painting came in ornament sized pieces. I always wanted to try it, but I didn't want anything too big (don't need to fall down another crafting rabbit hole 😂). Have you seen the new pattern Summer Valentine by the Blue Flower? It's got sea otters, and it reminded me of you and Mo.😊. Have a great week.
Wow, Fish n ships!! Woohoo! And I'm so sorry the counting in Summer Quaker has thrown you off and deflated your mojo for it. Rats. A break is good, but it's not off by much at all. Thank you for being vulnerable in sharing your frustration. We all have those and it is frustrating. Looking forward to watching Carolyn's balloons progress!
I just started stitching Strawberry Faire to participate in the Strawberry Moon Sal. I was working on Patriotic Quaker while I was watching your video.
I love watching you while working on whatever crafts are at hand. Today was working on getting fabric cut for Christmas in July stitching. One of the small projects even has the moon in it! Your voice and demeanor are so soothing - and inspired me to try a bit of flosstube, too. Your work is always so lovely. You're an inspiration to know when to hibernate things, when to work on what feels good, and when to just take it easy. Though you're right - that box was a severe disappointment. That's not what it should have been at all!
Laura I am stitching summer Quaker as well and I noticed that the wave border isn’t all the same number of stitches. May want to check that out. I thought it was weird that they weren’t the same but maybe that’s why. Let me know what you discover. Good luck
There are a couple of errata on the Lila's Studio website for the seaweed border. Some of them weren't consistent in the original chart, so if you stitched them all the same, that might be your problem. Re: the box, I have not bought one of BeStitchMe's boxes in a while, and I have always gotten the "epic" version when I have, but there has always been a paper with what everything was and who made it. I'm wondering if perhaps yours mistakenly didn't get one.
Oh wow I am surprise the box didn't have more presentation! I would have been disappointed as well. Like you said at least have a list of items or a dragon theme box or something! Still great items inside, but I get it. Sorry that happened. Thanks for sharing your art! I know you'll find the way on Summer Quaker, just take some time away from it :). Happy stitching!
I’m sorry to hear your box was not up to par. I’ve gotten many over the past two years and the things you were missing seem to be standard. I too would have been disappointed. None of them are cheap, so presentation is part of the expectation. I hope you find one from another vendor and try again someday!!
I have the same feeling about surprise boxes and sal. I want to know what I am spending my money and time on before I make the investment. There are times I would have been over the moon to receive the box but other times, I would have been disappointed. There are too many patterns wanting to jump in my cart to take the risk.
That's a bit of a blah presentation, isn't it. The pattern is cute, though! Imagine splitting them up and putting them on blocks as bookends! That would be cute! Moon. I'm also in WIP Warriors, but the Roadtrip side of things is a LOT of work with posts, so I might not do it next year. :P
I totally agree about your box incident. No information regarding items and very poor presentation. For the money, I would return it. Very disappointing. Moon
I always enjoy your videos while I’m stitching. Yes, I would have expected an item list in the box, at least telling you where each item is from. I don’t do too many boxes, I’m the same way, don’t want to pay for peripheral stuff. 🪡🧵☮️🌻
