I love your humility, Vicky! Your work is so beautiful. No need to frog in my opinion. When I used to quilt, an instructor told me that Amish ladies would always make sure there was a mistake in their quilts so they wouldn't be prideful...along the thoughts that no one is perfect but Jesus. So in my quilting group, any mistake was called an Amish mistake, which somehow made the mistake acceptable. Thanks for posting your beautiful work!
Vicky, you have such a wide variety of projects that you are working on and it was good to see your progress on each of them. Thank you for a such a great video. I look forward to your next one in a few weeks.
Love your finishes and your progress on your wips. Thank you very much for mentioning about the tea. This is good to know, because I have high blood pressure due to being diabetic. I checked my herbal teas that I have been drinking and most of them have this ingredience in it. I also love diamond painting, maybe you could show a couple of yours. Happy stitching!
I'm a 90s era stitcher too, and yes, embarrassingly I have a few unfinished pieces in totes from back then with masking tape on them, lol! 30+ year old crunchy masking tape now! Even the needle shops back then said masking tape was fine. The logic was that you were going to cut it off when you framed it. I have plenty of Pat Rogers, Leisure Arts, Paula Vaughn, and of course many, many Lavender and Lace. I have gone through and culled out most of the geese and teddy bear patterns from back then, can't see myself going back to that again! I'll have to check out the stitcher you mentioned who is doing the First Ladies. My favorite First Lady is Dolly Madison. She really set the mold for what we think of today about our First Ladies. She was the first one to live in the White House and purchased furniture and decorated it. She was an excellent hostess and was a great asset to her husband's political career. There is much more to say about her, but I'll stop so this isn't too long to read.
Thank you for your video. Your WIPS got some good work done on them. They're so pretty. I have several Brenda Keyes patterns, too. I hope to start one them after I finish my Prairie Village. I have one of those large magnetic boards. I got it many years ago at Hobby Lobby, I think. I like it for those very large patterns. I use my magnetic board exactly like you do. I can't stitch without one. Take care and happy stitching!
Hi Vicky! Love seeing your progress! I think you should be the "Alf" horse in your Hawk Run Hallow piece. Every time you look at it, you will be reminded of when your daughter used to watch Alf :). Have a great day!
Great video!! I loved your “blast from the past”. I have been stitching since the 70’s so I totally remember Pat Rogers and Paula Vaughn, great designers! Your projects are so pretty. I also love Brenda Keyes’ patterns. I have purchased mine from the Silver Needle, and they carry a lot of her patterns and have lots of shop samples of her designs; they are wonderful. So, you can try them too if you are looking for a pattern you can’t find. I love the variety of projects that you share plus you stay focused on cross stitching which is nice. Thanks so much for sharing……………….
I have a big dimensions kit pattern that is getting old and soft along the crease. A few weeks ago I took it to a fedex office and I was able to make a big copy of it. The have the machine out on the floor for customers to do themselves. I love your projects from the 90’s. The floral ones are perfect for the spring.
Hello Vicky 🦋 You have a wonderful collection of projects that are all making great progress!! Impressive !! I wanted to thank you so much for the mention and I’m tickled that I inspired you to reorganize your bead collection. I had a fun time stitching with you today. See you again soon -Samantha ❤
Thank you! You too! I so enjoy your channel and all of your lovely stitching. Huge is a wonderful way to live. Happy stitching as I wait for your next video.
Hi Vicky. I have been sorting through a tub of older patterns and found the purple hydrangeas design. It is called Garden Interlude from Lanarte by Leisure Arts. Your stitched pieces is beautiful!
Your WIPs in this video were all so pretty! I’m so impressed by the large patterns that you have going at the same time while I would be forever stitching just one or two of them! The organization tips were very helpful for bead storage and converted jewelry case for stitching tools and accessories! Thanks for sharing those and I will be checking out my herbal teas too😀. My blood pressure is normal but I want to keep it that way! I loved the Blue thread you chose for Let Love Reign and May change my flower color when I stitch this pattern. Have a blessed week enjoying our nice Spring here in Virginia.
So glad I watched your video today. lol I am in the process of stitching One Nation by : ByGone Sttitches, and thanks to your showing yours today, I noticed that I had stitched the wrong color of "stars" in the border square. I only did 5, so it will be an easy fix. From day one that you showed this project, I knew I had to do it for my son-in-law who is in the service. He retires in August, maybe I will have it completed by then. Just love your RU-vid channel. 🙂
Am so excited when I see you have a new video. You are my favorite. Love all of your projects ❤. Also the fact that you use aida and lugana . Not crazy about linen. Love that Barbara Ana piece. Does it have over one stitching in it because I would like to order it and fabric. Would like to do aida if it doesn’t. Thank you for everything you do for our stitching community.
Love your videos. Have been using magnetic boards for years with a book stand to hold my patterns. I have a stash of projects that have been started but haven’t stitched much on Even have some fabric I can’t remember what the pattern is. Love Mirabilia and Lavender and Lace and started buying Mirabilia when she first came out with her designs. 😅
Hello from NC Vicky...thank you for sharing your beautiful pieces with us. I love it when you share tips on floss colors, tips on any specialty stitches on patterns, and your choices on fabric to stitch it on. Passing along the idea on bead storage is appreciated as well. Always fun to visit with you, thank you for all you do to pull it all out and share it with us. I’m a big fan of hot tea as well.
You have so many beautiful LARGE pieces going. They are all beautiful. I love all the tips and tricks flosstubers share. So many helpful ideas to make our stitching easier and more enjoyable. Thank you.
Hey Vicky! Absolutely love the bead organizer, that will be so helpful to keep track of all my beads. Usually watch your videos twice so it won't seem so long to the next one! Your projects are just wonderful!
Oh I used to love Alf when I was a kid. Completely forgot about him until you just mentioned him! I love the Map of Hawkrun Hollow piece, the colours are beatiful in this one.
I have the square spring picture like yours finished too!! I’ve never framed it yet but now we have a hobby lobby close by I can get it framed!! Your videos are so sweet!! I used to live in VA when ex was stationed at Belvoir we shopped in Fredericksburg almost every Saturday!!
Always watch you as soon as I see new video is up. Always learning something from you. Would love a link to the big board you showed your chart on please.
I make a working copy, tape where the pages meet, put them on a magnetic board and place that in an easel. Those pages of charts and huge single page charts can be challenging. Doing a long dog now and I just divided it into thirds.4 pages together horizontally. Nice to see you!
Great video Vicki. You have made great progress. The past finishes are amazing. I always make a copy of my charts no matter the size of the piece. I blow it up also. I make it as easy as possible to see at a glance. I figure if I don't strain to much to see the chart I can stitch a little longer in one sitting without my eyes getting tired. Look forward to your next video. Happy stitching.
I take my big patterns to FedEx/Kinko in Walmart and scan them onto a USB drive. I then load onto my computer to my One Drive so I can pull it up on my iPad. I open it as a pdf file and highlight it on the tablet. I love it because I can enlarge the pattern on my tablet. It was a game changer for me with my larger projects. Love your WIPs.
Thinks for the PSA about licorice root, Vicky. I love tea, but also need to watch the ingredients in my tea. Also - loved your old finished projects. They remind me so much of the ones I did 25-30 years ago, and like you - mine "live" in a box under my bed. I refuse to change any part of them (including the masking tape) because they tell a story of who I was; the choices of fabric and designs I had then and the budget of a young, single woman on a budget and alone in my crafting as no one in my circle did needlework. Take care and stay well.
I so enjoyed your video Vicky!!! I am not sure why I have not found you before now! I will definitely be going back to watch some of your previous videos! I love your WIPs! The beading storage idea is fabulous and I hope to switch to that soon. Thanks so much and happy stitching!
Your stitching is beautiful, as always! Love the colors on Elizabeth Weston! I have 2 Brenda Keyes patterns waiting to be stitched. I love the things she includes with her charts like thread sorters and a label to apply to the back of your piece when it's framed. The colors she uses are so rich! Have a great couple of weeks!
Oh I love the house color on His Eye is on The Sparrow and I'm glad you didn't change it. OMG you have got to frame some of those older pieces you stitched. Put them on the walls of your stitchy room. If you don't want the G, frog it and put a little something there.
I so love your videos. Your color choices of floss and fabric are spot on with my tastes! Thanks for passing on the organizational tips! Organization is my word for the year! Slow, but sure, right? Happy stitching!
As always, love your videos! Thank you for sharing the tips on herbal tea, who knew?! I also greatly appreciate that you share your organization tips and processes. I had no idea about that nifty beading case. Your projects are gorgeous and have me itching to finally start my Let Love Reign.... Hope you're having a great stitchy time!
Hello Vicky...Great video..I haven't thought about Alf in years.! I also ordered the Brenda Keyes sampler after watching Heidi's flosstube. Have not kitted it up yet. All of your projects are gorgeous. Thank you for taking the time to do the flosstube. I appreciate it so much. .....Pam
Hi, Vicky, beautiful stitching!! I always am so excited when I get a notification that you posted a new video! Besides making a working copy, I'll sometimes print out extra copies of certain pages so that I can trim off edges of one page and tape pages together (just remember to remove the overlap rows, lol). It can give you a big piece of paper to work with, but makes it so much easier to correctly stitch something that spans multiple pages. I always use a working copy of my patterns. It helps with the fold areas not becoming unreadable and I also use highlighters. (and I'm just very fussy about keeping my patterns in pristine condition, lol) If the pattern is easy and I don't anticipate needing to highlight, then to save paper/ink, I'll just scan and save the chart as a .pdf and send to my tablet. Happy Stitching! x Lynn
You're such a joy to watch, and I love the project bag background. I laughed out loud when you mentioned that your horse looked like Alf. Thanks for answering my question on colors I had On One Nation--just awaiting my floss. Yours is gorgeous! You never fail to inspire!
I love you videos. I loved seeing your previous stitches. I have the Humility Stitcher kit. When you start I’d love to Sal with you. I love that you live so close to all that history. Thank you for taking the time to make videos. I know it’s a lot of work
Hello Betty, I just started the Sweet Humility Sampler today. If you would like to stitch it also that would be great. However, I am not good at Stitch alongs. I have so many projects that I divide my time with. Happy stitching 🧵
I'm always looking forward to your videos. You definitely have some great tips with floss color I am going to try and all your stitching is beautiful. I loved the Huckleberry Farm I'm going to have to stitch it! Your fabric choices are always great. I always gasp when you started stitching one and then you don't like the color and take it all out😁 or start again on a different color. I always don't want the video to end glad they are long. So enjoyable.
Hi Vicky! Whenever you put out a video, I will be there. You know I love watching your progress on all your beautiful patterns! Those previous finishes are simply gorgeous! Thanks for all the tips for storage and stitching. Thanks for the shout out. So, which Brenda Keyes project will you start first? Lol. No pressure! Have a great coupe of weeks. Happy stitching! Lori
I remember Elf. I don't remember which one you showed but it was on a blue fabric. It was very pretty. I'll watch again to figure it out. It was near the beginning. Have fun and be safe.
All of your work is so beautiful, but my favorites for this month are Let Love Reign, Pandemic (much lovelier than the purple dmc), and A Savior’s Praise! Your finished pieces are stunning. Loved that era of cross stitching ❤.
It is interesting that even though you use the loop method I still see the veri Gratiot in the pear and flower in the Blackbird designs O Joyous Day. I would like to know how you fold up the larger pieces of fabric if you use the q snap?
When I use an over dyed or variegated thread I use two strands and do not do the loop start to keep the variegation. I will try to remember to show again how I wrangle large pieces of fabric in my w-snaps. Happy stitching 🧵
Hi Vicki, all your pieces are stunning and you always accomplish so much. I love the colors and fabric you choose for all your projects, you seem to have an eye for it. How do you make all your stitches so perfect, what is your secret? I try my best but my stitching doesn't look so great especially my white. Thank you for sharing, you're amazing!!!
Thank you so much! I did put up a basics to cross stitch with helpful tips video about a year ago. Basically I try to always make sure that my thread is not twisted.
Great video! Love to see the progress on your projects! That bead organizer is a great idea! Thanks for sharing it forward! A question for you. How do you decide if you are going to do aida or other fabrics? Is it more dependent on the fabric color you have in stash for a project and then you decide 32 count evenweave or a 16 count aida for example? Or is it dependent on if there are any specialty stitches?
Thank you so much. My fabric decisions are a combination of everything you mentioned. I usually try to find something in my stash that will work first before ordering something new. Happy stitching 🧵
Fun video. I had things taped with masking tape back in the day. Love to see all your stitching new and old. You’re are a beautiful stitcher. Where do you buy the bead “tic tac” thingie 😂That looks like a great storage.I loved visiting Mount Vernon when we were back there.
Love all your projects. Thank you for the hints too. You have the loveliest assortment of project bags. They are all so pretty. Do you get most of them on Etsy?
Thank you so much! I make a bunch of them using a Flosstube tutorial video by Elizabeth Ann Can Stitch. I order most of the rest off of Etsy. My favorite bag maker is Sew Much To Love. I have been slowly collecting and making them.
All of your stitching is so beautiful. Do you do a center start with your mirablia or ladies? I was wondering can they be upper left hand corner started too?
Thank you so much. For my Mirabilias I usually do a center start. Sometimes I do a center top start. The chart will have the center marked at the top. I then count down for my margin allowance and start there for a center top start (usually the head of the lady). Happy stitching 🧵
Love the Long Dog Sampler thread That is a very beautiful varigated thread. Thank you so much for sharing. Been watching you a lot, but didn't hit Subscribed until recently, so I caught this video less than 20 minutes after you posted !!.
HI Vicky , first time watching you - great FT ! I love the PR128 you are using on the LDS which I would like for my You Belong To Me LDS however when I look on their site the colour PR128 looks nothing like your colour - it looks more like a gold colour . Can you help at all ? Thanks
Hi Vicki I have the Pandemic chart ready to stitch but after seeing your choice of thread I'm going to put away DMC 310 and stitch this chart in the floss you are using. I wrote down, Silks 4 U PR 128. Where can I order this thread?
Hi Patricia, I made a mistake on the color number it is PR181. You can find Silks4U on Etsy or by searching by that name online. I purchased a hank which should be more than enough. A hank costs around $35 US. It is a very good deal for silk floss. Happy stitching 🧵
Hello Jennifer. I am stitching Let Love Reign on 28 count Ivory Lugana and His Eye Is on the Sparrow on 32 count Vintage Country Mocha Lugana. I am stitching both of them with two threads.
