You are a stitching Rock star! I’ve been doing all kinds of needlework since childhood, and I’m old-er than you, and never finished a Mirabilia. I’m stitching Cathedral Woods Goddess now and you’ve inspired me to finish. Really enjoyed hearing about your Grandma. She sounds like someone interesting and fun. I sure don’t know why so many children’s movies are focused on tragedy but seems like they are. I have the same reaction as you do to Up. Another sad one, though not a children’s movie, is Somewhere in Time. When I hear the theme music I’m ripped apart. THANKYOU for another enjoyable Flosstube.

Oh my goodness, Somewhere in Time has one of the saddest soundtracks ever! That was a really interesting plot for a film, but yes. Very sad. And Christopher Reeve was so handsome (Superman era for him I think). Thanks for that memory Tammy!

I had the Long and Winding Road on a 45 rpm when I was a little kid along with many others. My older sister and I used to buy them and play them incessantly. We had a little turntable that looked like a little square suitcase and it was mustard yellow. Haha, such fun memories. Thank you for another great video, beautiful stitching!

Oh my, what a lovely shout out you gave my little channel! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. That was really sweet and kind of you. I’m so glad you enjoyed the teacups and thought of me when you were showing your gorgeous new fabric haul. I agree that blue was sadly lacking in my early 70s childhood, drowned out by avocado, burnt orange and sunshine yellow. Your new backdrop is gorgeous, it’s fun to see it switched up. Your Ann Logan finish is pure eye candy! And yes, what’s with kids’ movies or the fairytales they’re based on? The moms all die or are missing or supplanted by evil stepmothers, committed to asylums. It’s not the safe, secure message we should be feeding our children. And don’t even get me started on the sheer weirdness of those Brothers Grimm ;-). Thanks again Jodi!
@trixietricycle
@trixietricycle 3 года назад
Hi Sarah, you're right about all the moms! I hadn't really put that all together but yes! It's all about abandonment or getting lost. Gahh...anyway yes, I love your teacups and your whole channel. : ) Thank you for the nice compliment on the backdrop, I'm trying to switch it up fairly often (fun to try new stuff).

I am finally getting to the end of your flosstube. It takes me two or three hours to get through one hour of flosstube, as I have constant interruptions around the house. I love your bluebird fabric fat quarter! I totally remember the colors from the 70s. I had a rental that had not had an updated kitchen since the 70s, and they had all those yellows, oranges, tans and browns in it. And my mom used to have wallpaper that had avocados on it. From that time too. If anybody had blue, they probably had blue Willow plates hanging on the wall. I would like the Mirabilia tea. Hope you have a nice Memorial day weekend!

@trixietricycle 3 года назад
Hi Padma, you're right about the willow china, that was actually very popular at the time. I find that I'm always rewinding episodes of Flosstube because I've gotten interrupted and don't want to miss parts, so it takes me a long time too. :)

Thanks Jody! Loved your video! I got Ranger Rick magazines when I was little. Your grandmother sounds like someone I would have really enjoyed. I planned to be a wildlife biologist but got talked into being an animal scientist. Similar biology but different environment. I remember the smell of the old record player of my Moms from the 40s. It had a certain smell and had a large brown piece that fit in the center to play 45s. I listened to Rockin Robin on a 45. Good memories. The little above was dual purpose. I haven’t seen those charts. You amaze me with how much you get done between your FlossTubes! I have fallen down the featherweight hole with Alice. I have one coming in a few weeks... Did I sense you were talking yourself out of it? LOL.

Hi Jody :) Great video, I had to laugh when you spoke about kids movies always being tragic cause my husband and I were talking about that about a week ago lol And what's up with nursery rhymes! Rock a bye baby (Cradle will fall).... Humpty Dumpty (Had a big fall), ect LOL I don't know how we never had nightmares of falling from high places growing up lol. I was listening to you explain 45's and I have a hard time to believe that kids this day do not really know what they are, my husband and I are huge record collectors, and because my nephew grew up with that he became one as well, his friends all thought he was crazy until it became popular again! I love peppermint tea, I drink one every night before bed. Mirabilia charts are always beautiful - the colors are so pretty in that one. The little charts the kids made.... such a great idea!! Have a great day!

Hi Christina! Nursery rhymes are SUPER dark, aren't they? And yeah, I'm never sure how in depth I should go with explanations of things that I take for granted (like vinyl) but I mentioned in another comment reply that a few years ago there was a video with two pre-teenage boys trying to sort out how a rotary phone works and it was adorable - they were trying so hard.

Jajaja, I agree with you about the children movies. But not only movies, series too. When I was at school (I am almost 50) the whole TV series Heidi was on (and Heidi wasn't too bad, even with the details of sad time at the city, etc). But also was a TV series called Marco. That one I didn't like it, it was sad, and tragic. It was about a kid that was separated from his Mom because she had to moved and work in a very far away town (if I remember the kind of houses was like Spain or France). And Marco made a journey to find his Mom and he started collecting clues and information about where she was. Every time he arrived to the town where his Mom was; she already left. And he had to start again.

You made me laugh with your talk of kids movies. My friend took her girls to see The Lion King and once Simba's dad was killed all hell broke loose with kids crying in the theater so much so that she took her kids home, while they cried all the way. We still laugh about that these many years later!
@trixietricycle
@trixietricycle 3 года назад
LOL I can totally picture that theater in chaos - poor kiddos. So dang odd when you think about it though - what are these writers trying to do, toughen them up? It's the film version of telling a kid to 'rub a little dirt on it, you're fine' when they scrape their knees or something.

Have you watched mouse potato designs? She is a new Crosstitcher, but she has been on RU-vid for quite a while doing paper crafting and other things. I think you would find her personality compatible. And on one of her flosstubes, she said she would answer any question you had about her set up, how to do things on RU-vid, etc. So you might want to check her out if you have questions about doing your flosstubes, editing, etc. I think I heard somebody describe you as a new stitcher that has jumped right in. Jody, I really enjoyed your video, so much like sitting down and having a cup of coffee with a friend. The little, tea charts are quite nice, thank you! i know there are a TON if tutorials on project bags, the one with Jenn creates, is in two sizes and math can easily be done to create larder or smaller with 2" increase or decrease of fabric. I find it nice to be able to kit the bags according to chart size. Your fabric is Stunning! I hope they still have some left. Also, Where did you get the scroll things? It has been a good 40 years since I took cross stitching seriously and literally everything has changed about it. I have seen the scrolls a lot lately on other channels... so thank you so very much for what you are doing and for your generosity.
@trixietricycle
@trixietricycle 3 года назад
Hi Kathy! I love Jenn's project bag tutorial, I linked it in my first video and it's the one I use when I go on project bag making streaks. I do like the idea of sizing them up! There are a ton of different scroll frames available, and most are fairly reasonable in price. I know I found a set at 123stitch, and possibly on Amazon as well. Qsnaps are another type, they are a plastic tube style with clips for each side, and they are a bit more like a hoop. They also stretch the fabric a bit more tightly if that's how you like to stitch. : )

I've already messaged you directly but just so this out there and to also remind me when I correct myself in my next video: totally had a memory relapse and accidentally mixed you and Betsy Kleger lolol. Also, I'm 27! I just recently got into jumping into all of the Siouxie and the Banshees music, but I think the one that I shared was "Kiss Them for Me", which I've known that song for a few years :) I rarely listen to modern music lol.

Yep, that's my fav S&tB song of all time. Peekaboo right behind that one. I'm happy to be in the same memory/thought pod as Betsy, she is the greatest.

Strawberry fields, don't want to stitch the house and Yellow Submarine, that yellow sub....No, I know, I'm weird, but all the others...Yes Audrey 💙🖖

You pronounced my name PERFECTLY - which is unusual even in UK as it's Welsh (for Jane!) - thank you so very much! Absolutely love your Whilst Iris Naps FFO - gorgeous and perfect little frame for her! Also love your haul especially the Stonehenge and Nougat - gorgeous! have a great 2 weeks stitching :)

I never knew Sian was Welsh for Jane. I knew it was welsh, but not the Jane part. It’s popular in Ireland too. Probably a Gallic connection.

Oh thank goodness. I really did try to dig online to get it right but there wasn't a definite consensus so I'm glad it was correct. : ) Happy stitching to you too!
