Glad to see you back! What a generous hubby for gifting you the Chatelaine's, I was heartbroken as well to hear about Martina, such an amazing talent gone from this community. You Desert Mandala is beautiful and you've chosen a wonderful way to customize it. I had to fight back tears when we're telling your story about the pattern. You miss your friend, but she is there, finding that pattern to be passed to you. The stitched piece your other friend made for you is beautiful, so fiitng for the beautiful person you are. How nice your husband supports your hobby. One of my first finishes for 2018 was a chatelaine, to remember the great designer Martina was. She was one of a kind. Happy new year.🌻

Oh my goodness! Your Châtelaine birthday gift made my jaw drop. I'm doing the same thing this year. I'm going to buy one chart a month and collect the charts I truly love just in case. I can't even say how much Martina's death affected me. She left a giant hole in the cross stitch community. She's irreplaceable. Your Desert Mandala looks amazing! When I work with rayon, I use 1 strand rayon and 1 strand cotton. It makes the rayon more tolerable to work with, without sacrificing the shine. :)
