While I've been stitching for 30 years, I'm new to both of those designers and appreciate the comparison. There are no needlework shops near me so I could only look at pics online, and the pics of those brands looked so boring. Then I got on floss tube and stitchers showed what they really looked like finished, and I was blown away by the gorgeousness! I just purchased my first mirabilia (Bluebeard's Princess) and bought two Corbetts (reindeer Cupid, and Mermaid Verde)...and am strongly contemplating the top mermaid you have in the background of your video. Looking forward to all you content, whether FT or not!
Thank you for making this video. It was really interesting and something I have wondered. Why use different names on the packaging for the same designer. It makes it easier to choose knowing the main difference is time I want to commit to it. Happy stitching, Tina x
Miss Danielle, I'm pretty sure that this should be a private comment, but... You are just knocking me out. I've wanted to say this for quite a while, but didn't want to sound like a creepy stalker. But then I figured...life is just too damn short. Your stitching, your nails, your makeup, your pretty hair coming back, your humor, your grit and bravery, your knowledge and willingness to share it with the world is just...perfection. I know that you must have days when you still feel unwell or are terrified of what you've come through, but you truly are a gorgeous warrior who deserves only the very best that life has to offer. Thank you for sharing yourself and your stitching and your life with us. You are an amazing inspiration, a breath-takingly beautiful woman, and a stitching goddess of the highest magnitude. Love,ConiThe Spinster Stitcher P.S. Holy crap already with the fabrics you're using! Gorgeous!
Another difference that I have found is the series. The Nora Corbetts are often in a series of 6. Some Mirabilia patterns complement but aren't necessarily a series. That can influence the choice of patterns for a stitcher. She is a fabulous designer and I had the pleasure of meeting her. Love her works. Now if I was able to draw 1/10th as well, lol. Blessings, Diane
Thank you for making this video! I've never stitched a Mira or a Nora Corbett, but I really want to, but had a hard time figuring out which I should go for. This video makes it so much easier!
Thanks for the video! I have always wondered about the differences especially since I have never stitched either... And by the way... I LOVE your "hot stinkin mess" videos! 😁
So Danielle, I asked at my LNS today about the Mirabilia vs Nora Corbett... she is the designer for both. Her mother was involved somehow in its beginning. Nora doesn't own either now. Mirabilia was bought by Wichelt and Nora Corbett is owned by Hoffman Dist. She just designs for both.
Thank you SO much for this video! I just bought my first Nora Corbett pattern (Mai Soli) last week and I've always wondered about the differences. I'll probably stick to the smaller ones for awhile. lol
I am currently looking forward to doing Bluebell by Nora Corbett. I just need to get the pattern which is now the challenge. I have all the floss and fabric ready to go. I love your video's.
Thanks for doing a video on the difference between Miras and Nora Corbett patterns. I was wondering about some of the differences you brought up. I would love for you to do other content videos like makeup, nails, etc. Looking forward to your next video!
I've never done either and have wanted to and thanks for doing that it's help me make a choice to start and work my way up to the bigger one love the out takes your funny but are sometimes to hard on yourself girl keep doing what your doing
Thank you for doing this! Although I have never stitched either a Mirabilia or a Nora Corbett, I've seen so many shown on FT and it is great to hear your thoughts on the differences. Have a good week!
I really like when you do videos like this. While I love seeing progress and haul on flosstube, its nice to have a little variety of something like this thrown in.
Loved this video. It was amazing to see the size difference between a Mirabilia and a Nora Corbett. I find myself drawn to Nora Corbetts more than Mirabilias. It also helps that Nora Corbetts are generally cheaper to kit up than Mirabilias because there are less beads and specialty threads. Seeing your progress on Peony Pixie is what enabled me to buy and start my first Nora Corbett.
Thanks so much, love!!! I sometimes wonder when I have an idea for a video and then record it, like will anyone care to watch or be interested in the content?? haha
Thank you for taking the time to show the differences. It strikes me that the Nora Corbett designs still have as much detail as the MIrabilias. I think Nora can design more series as Nora Corbett (Bewitching Pixies, Flower Fairies, etc.) than as Mirabilia. Are you planning on ordering Lady of Mystery. I thought of you right away with the strong color of the dress and the background. Have a great stitching week! Take care.
Woow, this was so informative! I was only looking at Mirabilia because of the details you mentioned (like the face etc) but after this video I feel like doin some Nora Corbett ones. I guess that you thought that these differences are obvious as you said that you debated yourself whether to record the video on this. But please do for any topic for the newbies like me! Anyways, Thank you :)
Everyone may know this but Mirabilia was Nora's mother's designs and Nora branched out on her own at some point. Her mother died a few years ago. Don't know when Nora took over the designing. Her mother had MS.
Linda McKibben More's mom was actually the designer of Lavender and Lace. Nora was always the designer of Mirabilia. At least that is what I always thought.
I always find your videos interesting I would never do a Nora Corbett or Mirabila. I can't spell either. Just not my style. They are pretty cool. Thanks
That was an interesting video! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Mermaid you stitched for your husband - absolutely gorgeous! The framing is beautiful too. Also loved your fairy, but I am just infatuated with that Mermaid! I'll have to replay it because I forgot the name already (ugh, stupid pain meds!) but I think you said Pearl in there. Just amazing work Danielle. I'm sure your husband loves that!! Do you have a FAVORITE design by Mirabilia and/or Nora Corbett? How about a favorite MERMAID by either/or design brand? I have Renaissance Mermaid all ready to start here but I'm TRYING to finish at least one wip first. 😕
Hi Danielle. Thanks for the comparison of the two: Mira's and Nora Corbett. I am new to cross stitching and wanted to know your thoughts. Would you suggest a new stitcher to start out with the Nora's before the Mira's? Are Nora's simpler to stitch or is it just the same as the Mira's? Thank you so much for taking the time to do the videos. It is much appreciated.
Shirley Muranaka the nora Corbett are easier in my opinion. Just because they are smaller. Both patterns use the same techniques, beading, sparkle thread, fractional and whole stitches.
Thanks for this. I don't stitch either, but have been curious since I hear so much about them on flosstube. I once googled them to try to figure it out for myself, didn't get very far. But thank you for explaining. You would have made a good teacher.
