really enjoyed this tutorial especially seeing how you get the great mottling on the fabric and how the different fabrics take the dye. Thank you so much I will definitely watch this again when I am dyeing fabric.
Hello! That was the best dyeing tutorial I have seen. I love "dirty" colours, I think you called it "Prim" you have given me the courage to have a go myself! Thanks so much!
Here it is 2 years later and I have just discovered Floss tubes (a bit slow on the uptake here). Thank you. This was an enormous help. I am tired to trying to find already dyed fabric for my projects. They are so expensive, too. I'm doing a gray for a snowy background and this was so helpful. Thanks. Yeah, Vodka helps!!!
Super-fun to watch you dyeing your fabric -- I totally "get" your technique of throwing a little in, changing ideas, trying something else. Your results were pretty, and now you've got me inspired to give it a try!
Such a great tutorial! I dyed my first piece (28 count Monaco, originally antique white) with your Rit liquid tan and brown combo-really love the result! Thank you for the instructions.
Great tute, Michelle! I want to come to your house and play and dye fabrics! Seriously, this was a really nice and easy way to introduce fabric dying. Thank you!
I absolutely love this one thank you! Fast-paced but advice and info rich with real life details! I run a small-medium ecommerce store with two RU-vid channels (this one for kids, cakes and crafts) and one to complement my business. I work hard building my email list and driving traffic to my site from my videos. Thanks again, Sally x
Thank you for this tutorial and for using the different fabrics. It was great visually to see how the fabrics take the colors! I am really excited to give this a try.
Oh my gosh, what a great tutorial. I have to try this, think I'm going to Michaels tomorrow for the dyes. Might also stop at Costco for Vodka!!! Ha, ha, ha!! 😂. Thanks so much for taking the time to show us your techniques!
Today I watched your flosstube nr 31. Didn't know how I found your flosstubeaccount.... but when I saw this video I remembered. A few weeks ago I was interested in dying fabric... That's the first video of you I ever watched... I hope to experience with paint very soon... Thanx for sharing this video...
Thanks. Loved the tutorial. It's really not that difficult to dye. I enjoy throwing caution to the wind, being fearless & just mixing colors. It's so freeing....
Thank you! Great and easy to follow tutorial. I watched again and dyed my first fabrics today. Tagged you on Instagram with a couple pics. Thank you again, great job!
I’m going to try this on Muslin for a Crabapple Hill embroidery fabric. I kind of want a very very lightly mottled pink fo a Valentine’s stitch. Thanks for the tutorial. Great video.
Thank you so much for the tutorial! In the past couple of months I've been trying my hand at dyeing my own fabric and i've been so frustrated because i've been using the powdered dye and i've been left with red and blue spots every single time. I even would leave it to sit for like an hour in hot water thinking it would dissolve. I'm definitely going out this week and buying the liquid to try again, and hopefully the results will be much better! Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and tricks. Your fabric looks fabulous!
Brilliant! Have seen soooo many dyeing tutorials where I have felt too scared to give it a go - love your instructions and your obvious enjoyment is making me plan my trip to a craft shop tomorrow to pick up some fabric and dues: thanks for taking the time and effort to record all of this ❤️.
Thank you for this tutorial and deciphering the mystery of dyeing our fabric! I have been debating about tea and coffee dyeing vs rit dyeing and also using a touch of black (rit-dye) to make more vintage-looking.
Great tutorial. Definitely feel confident in trying at least a two color piece. Glad you tried it with different fabrics to see how dye takes to them, big difference with the linen and Aida. Thanks for taking the time to prepare this tutorial!
It's so much fun isn't it! I love experimenting with the shades. Since I had so much fabric dyed I decided to start dyeing floss. Lol some of mine pictured on my Instagram back pictures.
Hi I 💕 this video!!!! You did a wonderful job showing how to dye techniques!! Plus I love your northern accent!!! My mom is from South Dakota so it makes me feel right at home here in Oklahoma!!!🥰
Wonderful tutorial. I tea dyed some evenweave the other day and was disappointed cause there was no modling. I see what you did with bunching the fabric. I'm going back in to try that piece again. Thanks so much!
Fantastic tutorial!! I was ready to have a dyeing day when your video posted! Perfect timing! I tried a few pieces using your technique and, Wow!! Got some really great pieces. Not sure what design they will work for but I may have to step out of my comfort zone and just start stitching on them! Thanks!!
We have so much the same tastes in fabric. This was the BEST tutorial. I want to buy lots of linen and dyes and go to town. Maybe do a video of the escapades with Jim "helping". Haha. Seriously, I feel like you just opened a door of possibilities for me. I'm really excited about your Dark October fabrics. Squeeee!!! Lastly - the hands down best part of this video is the gigantic bottle of vodka living on the island. You're my kind of girl.
OMG...I totally made sure the vodka was out of screen when I started but I definitely got sloppy at the end. We buy our tequila super sized too! I don't know if want Jim helping unless there is a plan in place already to replace your counter tops!!! Good luck! Hahahah!!!
Thanks for clarifying that vintage pyrex bowl. When you hauled it out, my first thought was "Oh please don't use that bowl!!" But you didn't hear me and used it anyway. Sigh!! Thank you for the tutorial. I going to get me some Rit this afternoon and go to town!!
a very practical and fun tutorial. i would stitch on all of those, i can see how dying fabric could be fun and addictive and not too messy if you're organized. thanks! :)
Just found your videos! Love them! But I miss seeing videos 2 - 14. I can't find them. I will be watching and stitching while marathoning your videos! 💗💗💗
Michelle - FANTASTIC tutorial. Just what I needed to see! I watched Confetti Stitchers tutorial which was similar - she used plastic grocery bags rather than the plastic containers. Your explanation and use of the containers and how to get the mottling was perfect . Thank you for taking the time and doing all the different fabrics - absolutely wonderful. Now you can partake of the vodka : ).
Thanks Becky, I'll have to check out Confetti Stitcher. That is a channel I didn't know about. I did partake of the vodka! Squeeze of lime and a little ginger beer to top it off!! Yummy!!!
Just came across this and am so glad I did. I have only tea dyed fabric so I am excited to try this. Thank you for the tutorial, it was very helpful. I bet the vodka could make dying even more fun! ( :
I loved this tutorial!! I just bought tan and brown dye last week to try my hand at dyeing my fabric and then today I saw this. Perfect timing!! I love prim samplers and fabrics, so those colors should be perfect. I was also gonna mention your adult beverage on the counter, but I see someone beat me to it. 😂😉 Thanks, Michelle, for another awesome video.
ARE YOU SERIOUS? You did SUCH a good job on this tutorial! I couldn't believe how many pieces you dyed for us. It was great! I can't wait to buy some more colors and get to experimenting! Thank you so much for taking the time to do such a good job. xoxo
Awe, thanks Stephanie!! I hope you great results and have fun! I have an awesome stash of hand dyed now that I can be really proud of and when you need something special and need it now you can do it yourself!! Can't wait to see what you come up with!
I enjoyed the tutorial and learned a lot. I you aren't going to use it, I'd be glad to take it. If it's just going to sit in your stash. This was an excellent learning experience. Thank you.
