Oh god! I just literally said that, right where your folding the 1st lot of Aida into a semi circle shape, then heh, you just push & squish it down into the bottle, classic! This is the most ludicrously funny ‘how to’ I’ve ever seen, which teaches me all the things not to do by doing them, ALL of them!
I am so happy that you posted this tutorial!! I am calling my sister this weekend to see if she wants to try to dye fabric with me! I would never have had the confidence to try without your video!!!! Thank you!!!!
Hi Kathleen, congratulations on dyeing your own fabric, it turned out really good. I used to dye fabric and t-shirts when I was a teenager and I really had fun with it then. What I wish for nowadays is that the Rit Dye company would make and sell much smaller bottles of the dye. You only need a couple of cap fulls so buying an entire bottle is so much dye. Wouldn’t it be nice if they had a variety pack of colours sold in little tiny bottles. Thanks for doing this fun video and looking forward to your next. Stay well!
Thank you for all the information. I've got some old lace, doilies and linens that I was to try to die and get some colors onto it. Also thank you for mentioning Rit's website for more info on colors...very helpful. Thank you for making this video.
A quick tip I saw on a other floss tube last year....they used dollar store puppy training pads ( a package of I think 15 was $1.25) to cover your counter or table works great and no mess to clean up just fold and throw out and the dye doesn't go thru...genius!! Great video!!
Good video, I like the spiral effect from the middle of your fabric outwards that you get with scrunching your fabric the way you do. I too also like chipmunk voice Kathleen!!
Thank you so much for this! I needed a fabric that was a specific color that was kind of pricey and so I decided to try dying my own. I used your tutorial and the Rit Dye and I think it came out really good! I think I'm going to want to dye all my fabric now haha
Thank you so much for this great tutorial! I have coffee dyed and tea dyed, so my next step was to try Rit dye. You made it look easy, so I am anxious to try it out, maybe this weekend.
I am currently binge watching all your episodes as i am also a beginner stitcher, you are so amazing, so excited to have a Canadian floss tube, i have been writing down all the stores and links. I so want to be a CSI....lolo..thank you for taking the time to do flosstubes....from cold Saskatchewan......lolol
Good luck! Sometimes I put my fabric back in the dye if I don't think it is dark enough because it always looks darker than it actually is when it is wet. If I like how it looks wet then I put it back in for another 5 minutes or so.
@@stitchuationnormal7082 Thank you!! And thanks for tip, good to know it can go back in the dye if needed. I have some scrap pieces to test out before I try to dye my actual fabric 😜
Great tutorial Kathleen ❣️❣️❣️ I live in an older home and have a porcelain kitchen sink!!! I will have to do my rinsing outside...with no hot water 😟 I’m just glad I thought about it BEFORE I tried it!!! Sure do wish I had a utility sink... oh well... I’m still going to try it😊
Thanks for the great tutorial Kathleen. I have only ever dyed fabric to a solid colour, never mottled, so I'm super keen to give it a go. A hot tip from April May June stitcher, if you're not happy with the result, just bleach it and try again. It works a treat. You can also store the mixed up dye and use it again. I have some old jars that I keep it in, then heat it up in an old pot and off I go again. So fun!
Super great tutorial! Thank you so much! You’re such a good teacher. Unfortunately I don’t have Rit dye, since I’m in Germany, but I‘ll try it with the common brand which is simplicol. 🥳
Thanks for the tutorial, Kathleen! I'm a little nervous to try dyeing. My utility sink is make of a white plastic. I'm pretty sure any dye would discolor it. I want to replace it with a stainless steel sink. Mmm maybe that is how to get it done! 😄
I got dye for Christmas. I found plastic spoons on clearance & used old cottage cheese & sour cream containers. Now there’s a box in the garage labeled to not use the contents for food purposes.
Great Tutorial 🤗 But I'm wondering if it may be brighter if you had of used salt 🧂 🤔! I'm not sure if it makes the fabric color last longer but I've heard that it makes the fabric more accepting of the dye... Salt in natural fibers & vinegar in synthetic fibers. Again great tutorial. Thanks for Sharing... 🤗😊❤😊🤗
