I use 2 - 4 high file cabinets for my larger charts. Now, I admit, you do need the room for these. I use my home office. Saves from picking up totes and moving them around. They do get pretty heavy. I have mine divided by category similar to yours and I actually use hard cardboard file dividers with tabs you can write on. If I have a designer I collect more than others, they also have their own section. Small charts, mostly by designer, are in small baskets and the baskets fit on a bookshelf. This saves from moving things from one place to another. Ok, I’ll admit I’ve been stitching for over 40 years so my “collection” is a little larger. Have fun organizing. I love doing it and always find things I’ve forgot about.
Linda, I love your input! I think we all can benefit from other ideas but ultimately have to find what works for us. Thanks for commenting. I really appreciate it ❤
I’ve been wanting to do my fabric for some time. Because I usually don’t do large stitching projects, could these boards be cut in half and used as a smaller version? I’ve done the binder method for patterns but I don’t like it. I find that it gets very heavy and because the patterns come in so many sizes, it doesn’t stay very neat nor is it easy to use. I think I’m going back to the filing system, similar to yours but with an actual hanging file system so they dong lay in the bin. Thanks for sharing your ideas. It’s always a help to learn from others.
Yes, you could certainly cut them in half. I love having the clips too. Interesting what you said about not liking the binder. I have to do something else so I appreciate what you said.
