Whoops! Post-upload Lauren here - I just noticed I was showing Spell of the Moon while talking about After The Harvest, which is the WIP I actually finished this year. Sorry for any confusion 😅
I love WIP parades! Midnight Watch is one of my WIPS and I pulled it out this weekend. You’re the second person I’ve seen finish it since I pulled mine out on Saturday.☺️
I also saw another recent finish - I'm not sure what it is about this cool summer we're having in NE but it's motivating me to take out fall pieces much earlier than usual!
I’m always up for a WIP Parade. Yours are great! Please, keep them coming! I, too, will put a piece in time out (burnout, new stitch distraction, frustrating mistake). When I come across, it later in time, it moves me to resume and the stitches flow until a finish. An advantage of WIPs - no matter how old!
Great Wip parade. I watch it all too! I’ve started Summer Saltboxes today, the 21st. Loved the idea when you told us. Im only doing one house also. I’m picking my favorite from each season. Summer is the sheep chart. Happy stitching.
Loved your WIP parade! Very inspiring. I’m also stitching Thirza, and I also haven’t been giving her the attention she deserves. I definitely need to get her back out. I have restarted Consider the Lilies. I had the first page done and decided to do the bones of the border. I finished the border and was one stitch off 😡 I know I could have fudged it, but I couldn’t. I was never thrilled with my fabric, and after market saw a piece of Atomic Ranch fabric that I loved. So, I restarted and am loving it. Seeing your progress keeps me motivated. I’m sure it takes a lot of time and preparation to do your videos, and it is much appreciated. Happy Stitching! Kara
Thank you for watching Kara! Thirza definitely needs a good few days of stitching to get me back into the swing of things. As for Consider the Lilies, with it being such a huuuge piece, I am definitely an advocate of using the fabric you love! I originally started CtL on a piece of 28 ct. Flax and stitched at least 4 pages (!!) before calling it quits and picking a new fabric.
Enjoyed your mid-year WIP parade. Thanks. I struggled with Moonlight Sampler, quit on it because of brownish fabric that was a substitute for wood violet..but loved the design so much I started again on a mid value violet, Anemone, love it, it's beautiful 😍
I'm watching you in 100 degree Texas with your long sleeves and windows open. I just want to come stitch outside in New Hampshire!! LOVE your idea for a finish parade to follow up your wonderful WIP parade. Hope you decide to do one way sooner than end of the year. I would love to see all your past finishes. Glad you decided to stick with Rejoice Evermore. I dearly love that pattern.
That was an enjoyable mid-year WIP parade (and finishes), thank you! I have a grime guard the same fabric as the inside of your Littleboat 88 project bag!
Me too! I rarely kit things properly until I’m about to start them because I always steal threads and fabric from the bags but I love watching other people’s kits all organized 😍
Im glad you are saving the owl from Moonlight Sampler though it’s a pity the fabric didn’t work. That’s one of the patterns I want to stitch eventually. I love WIP parades and seeing project bags. I’m going to see a few of my own and was considering using s different interfacing as the fusible fleece one here in Canada is quite pricey when I compare to Joann’s. I don’t know how much floppiness would annoy me, maybe I’ll stick a piece of cardboard in and it’ll protect the pattern too 😊
I also love a whip parade so thank you for sharing yours. You have some beautiful pieces and I’m sure, when you can afford it, they are all going to look delightful when they are framed and up on your wall. Take care and stay out of the ivy. Till next time.🇦🇺
I should be finishing up Sally Spencer this weekend. I, also, did not include the initials. Not sure what I will do about the name at the bottom. Thank you for inspiring me to start it! I loved stitching on Sally.
I'm glad you enjoyed stitching her, she is such a fun project! Charting the name at the bottom definitely gave me a bit of grief just because of the different fonts used, and mine is far from perfect, but I think it worked out ok :)
I'm almost done with my Spring Saltbox. I did just the blue one, but I think I'm going to make it a 2-year long process and stitch 1 house per season. What's your ultimate plan for finishing? I'm thinking of making table tent flat folds for the seasons to display! Also, I should know better than to watch your WIP parades! You make me want to buy it all!!! Love it!
I have started Moonlight Sampler on Winter Wren by Fox and Rabbit. I like the way the called for colors look on it. It’s in time out right now, but I will get back to it.
So many beautiful things, Lauren :) 💜 This was the perfect way to start my day - lots of inspiration to get some progress in on some of our shared projects!
I LOVED your wip parade, Lauren! and only 16?! You’re a very restrained stitcher. I did not stitch the alphabet on the BBD Birds of a Feather. There is no alphabet in the original (photo in chart) and at the time I just wasn’t feeling it. I think it looks beautiful either way. I love the Kathy Barrick nautical stocking - don’t give up on it! I am sure your white stitches will look fantastic! Seeing your Thirza makes me think - haven’t touched her in a while😂 Thanks for sharing xx
Your finishes are so wonderful, I cannot wait for you to fully finish the Liz Matthews piece b/c the colors are just fantastic. I never see anyone else with the middle name Louise, it is my middle name to, so that was a fun realization. I was always so embarrassed of it when I was growing up during roll call at the beginning of the year but Thelma and Louise made it much cooler :)
What an amazing WIP parade! I'm so glad you posted it, the lighting was not a problem at all! Plus I loved the mini-project bag parade! 😉💖 (Also, I'm currently trying to avoid buying rifle paper co. fabrics to make some rifle bags for myself... 👀)
Love your WIP parade! Am doing the Saltbox solstice sal along with you. You mentioned you wanted to switch the houses on the summer pattern but didn’t want to rechart the flag. I don’t think you would need to, just leave the flag as is and stitch the flag first then do everything else and do the flag pole last so you can work it in amongst the flowers. Just a thought❤
Love your Midnight Watch. I have been wanting to stitch that one for awhile now. I notice you use a lot of colour and cotton linen. Where do you purchase that? Very nice fabric. Love your flosstube ❤.
Hi Michelle! I used to be in the Colour & Cotton monthly fabric club (neutrals) for about 18 months. I recently ended my subscription but I highly recommend getting on the waiting list if you’re interested 😊 I think Angela just opened her physical store too so you may be able to find more ready to ship fabric now!
Wip parades are my favorite!! Beautiful projects!!! I have a several of your finishes in my stash, and seeing them again makes me want to start them ALLLL 😁😁.
Your projects look great! I've been eyeing up the garden sampler pattern and I like the colors you're using. I've never bought Roxy floss before. I'm wondering, where do you purchase it? Is it variegated? Also, where would I find the conversion you're using? Thanks for the help, this is new to me! 😊
Thank you for the kind words! So for Roxy Floss Co, it is sold exclusively through the website evertote.ca - the floss is definitely variegated, some colors more than others. They have beautiful photos though, so you can get a good sense of the colors online. For the conversion I'm using, you'll need to email hannah@evertote.ca; the listing is not available online. Note that prices are all in CAD, so if you're in the US, the actual $ amount will be significantly less. Their floss is not inexpensive, but I find it to be a good value for overdyed based on the quality and the fact you get 8 yards instead of 5, as you would with Gentle Arts or Weeks. I hope this helps!
As usual, gorgeous WIP's! I had a question, only because I saw it happen on another Flosstube...are you far enough over for when you get to the toe of the stocking chart? Just from what I can see, it looks like there may not be enough room when you get to where the toe turns to the left. Videos are deceiving, so apologies if I didn't see that correctly. Happy stitching, Candace
Thank you for watching and for calling that out! I've actually decided to stitch a modified version of the chart - the pattern I bought allows for either the stocking or the 'sampler' which is a straight version of the stocking, so no toe turn! :)
Hi there! If you’re not using it, I’d love to either borrow or buy it from you, whichever you prefer! Please let me know, and thank you for the offer! 😊
