Great conversation Peggy, I used to be a monogamous stitcher & now have a large number of wips I would have to say because of Flosstube. They're so many wonderful patterns out there that we know about compared to when I was stitching in 80's & 90's that as a stitcher in Australia we just didn't really see until we could shop online, buy things from anywhere in the world & now seeing so many wonderful stitchers like yourself, our stitching world just opened up so amazingly. I would like to get back to having only 2 wips at a time, but at the moment that is a faraway dream because I still want to stitch on all of my wips.....nice problem to have though 😊
I’d love to pick someone brain like you I guess if you were sitching at that time i inherited a heap of old patterns from my nan that I’d never stitch but they are here and staying - my nan lived in a older more established area then I do when it comes to crafts and such - where did you shop then!?!?!
Wanted to say something extra regarding your Bear project that you don’t want to finish, you could try putting in a length of floss in just once a month, frog out the unfinished bear, leave the finished one and call it done. Regarding all the extra fabric 14ct, you could use that for ornmaments that you give as gifts, practice dying fabric with it, grab a bottle of Ritt dye or use coffee and or tea. You have alot of extra fabric to experiment with.
I just hate 14ct I think in theory I should do a strand a week or something and commit to getting it done - achieving that and then never looking back lol
I taught myself cross stitch over 30 years ago made a few things as a monogamous stitcher and than stopped. Only have big box stores no local LNS and that is still the same many years later. I think that had more to do with limited income and lack of availability in my area just not alot to choose from back than. Now I have just come back to stitching, still don’t know what I like a year later my tastes are changing constantly. I am trying all the different fabrics aida, evenweave, linen and differnt counts, I like them all lol and love that can switch between big and small projects, differnt types of fabrics and counts. Some days want something simple so will do aida instead of linen or evenweave still have not tried 40 ct lol. I think because of flosstube watching and internet shopping I have to many patterns, fabrics, flosses etc. Want to join to many SAL”s, start a million and one things and wish could stitch faster to get it all done. Happy Stitching.
Hi Peggy. Same story here. I used to be monogamous and since joining cross stitch groups on Facebook & finding Flosstube, I am no longer monogamous. I currently have around 50 WIPs
It’s so interesting how that switch get flicked and there’s no turning back! I need to count my projects - but even with my wip parade I found some I missed later lol how long were you a monogamous stitcher for? And any regrets?
I was a monogamous stitcher for 35 years till I started a HAED then because it had 63 pages I did get burnt out with it. So to brake it up I started an other pattern so then I had 2 whips on the go. I did finish the HAED piece and now I work on 2 big pieces and one small piece. So with a smaller pattern I do get a finished.
So now you rotate 3 wips?!?!? You still are basically a monogamous stitcher to me! I think this is impressive - more then any multi stitcher like me lol and your obviously on flosstube how do you control yourself?!?!?
@@Peggys_still_stitching I just like to see my piece finish. I did watch a lady on flosstube she live in USA she was the queen of starts she would start a new pattern every day of the year so she had kitted up 365 pattern with fabric, floss and pattern with needle and needle minder. I think that would drive me nuts.
Hey just found you and yep I’m pretty monogamous, I ajwats have a big one on the go if I want to start something I start then finish then go back to my big one if I don’t want to start anything I’ll finish the big one then move on the most wips I’ve had is around 6, 2 of those were secret stitches to be passed on to other people to stitch
Yeah that style of stitching makes more sense to me like I could see how atleast having a few options would make the overall process easier, my brain just wants to start all the things!
@@Peggys_still_stitching I don’t like starting new things but when i finish something I feel so sad like it’s the end of an era takes ages to enjoy a new start for me i absolutely love the middle of the stitching 😆 if I have more than 3 I get really stressed out! 😱
