Thanks for showing what I wanted to know. I have just uncovered all my jewellery making stock so am interested. When I found flosstube about 3 years ago, I found scissor fobs. Thank you, I especially love the button one. Take care
A suggestion for those who have a tendency of slipping with the pliers. Use two pliers and twist the jump ring ends, then use that same way to close the jump ring. As for myself if I use her technic, I always slip and the wire ends up overlapping itself instead of closing. I also don't have the strength in my hands to pull pliers open (the way she opened the jump ring). Its way easier for myself with the way I explained above.
Lori, use your old jewelry to make a personal fob. I made one from a charm bracelet I wore in high school in the 1960s and added a few pendants from old necklaces. Now I see them every day instead of the poor things hiding in the jewelry box. Get another pair of pliers and twist open and close the jump rings. Much easier to work them that way.
just a tip here, jump ring and chain links is should be opened with 2 pair of pliers ( even a cheap pair of walmart needle nose pliers will work) one on each side of the split, twist to the side instead of pull, then twist back to close , it keeps the shape and helps they last longer and less issues with opening up from wear and tear.walmart has really neat colors of chains in the dollar section under the beading section (cousins brand in the bags(i learned this long ago because jewerl making was my first hobbyy .
Sooooo Fun!! You make the coolest things, and I always want to grab my keys and head to the craft store ASAP after watching your tutorials! Endless ideas with this one! Thank you!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I've had the button idea one on my to-do list for awhile and I'm glad to see that what you did is what I was planning! Thanks again. Blessings from Ohio.
Thanks for showing how to open and close the jump rings with your tool. Great tutorial keep them coming. Hope to meet you at a retreat some day. Also hope you escape the nasty hurricane weather.
When working with the jump ring, always take one side and push one the opposite from the other like one back and one to the front, it keeps it from coming apart, the way you are doing it will allow them to come apart faster, because your bringing it's open the weak way we're it will allow it to come open easier just to help you build better, I think there's a video on how to open a humoring. Love this , I did some jewelry this way
Thank you, thank you for the great tutorial, much appreciated!! Love your tutorials!! I have some old buttons from my great grandmother that I want to use!
Lorrie, Those are cute fobs! I love yours with the mother of pearl buttons! I think I have the stuff to make one for myself. Thanks for sharing your tutorial. Hugs, Judy
Thank you for taking the time to show this! I actually have e all these supplies on hand as I have done so many different crafts. Guess I'll be trying this next.
Thank you, Lorrie! I am among those who asked that you do a tutorial so I especially appreciated and enjoyed your wonderful tutorial. I can’t wait to make a fob. My first one will be a button fob but I am sure I will also make one with bells. What a cute Christmas idea. As always, thank you for sharing!
Thanks, Laurie. I have been wanting to take a look at one of these to figure out how to make them! I will be putting some together for all of my stitchy friends.
Thank you, I was hoping you would do a tutorial. Can't wait to make one. I want to add some of The Fairy Tale Jewerly charms at Hobby Lobby. Thanks again.
Thanks for showing how you are making the fobs. I have been making project bags for gifts and making fobs for the pulls. When I did the red and green I also used silver bells, red-silver,green-silver,red-green for the Christmas bags. Wonder if there is a way to close the jump rings up better on some I were back and put a spot of school glue on the opening. It is fun looking for different things to use.Happy stitching and crafting have to keep hands busy🤔🤔🤔🤔🥴🥴🥴🥴💫💫💫💫
Hi Lorrie. Your scissors fobs are so wonderful! I'm particularly fond of the one with the mother of pearl buttons. Thanks for a great tutorial. I plan to save it for a future date.
@@mischievousstitches Oh Lorrie! I'm blown away by your kindness, and I'm so very excited! Having a darling scissors fob made by you will be a constant reminder of our friendship. Thank you.
Thank you so much for doing the tutorial. When you took the length you wanted how many links was it? How many fobs could you make from the length of the chain on the card?
Hi Kelly! The chain is there feet long. The fob length is a personal choice. I made mine 2 1)2 to 3 inches. Depending on what you choose to embellish yours with, and how long your bells/buttons/beads drop from the chain, may weigh in on how long that you want to make your chain.
Hi Lorrie! Wonderful tutorial! I am a jewelry maker and hope you don't mind if I give you a tip. When opening jump rings it is better to open them by twisting side to side instead of apart. Pulling them apart actually weakens the metal and distorts them. Instead, use two chain nose pliers and hold them on each side of the split. With the large rings you might be able to use your fingers. Twist side to side to open and then do the same to close. When twisting the rings to close, if you gently pass each end once or twice before aligning the ends together, they will line up better and be stronger. Here is a link to a great tutorial www.fusionbeads.com/opening-and-closing-a-jump-ring Now I'm off to raid my jewelry supplies and make some awesome fobs! Thank you!
Thank you! And I loved stitching while watching this- the jingle bell sounds were so fun! I love it!! Thanks for this tutorial- can’t wait to try my own! ✨ stay beautiful, my friend. Clare @beautifulclareity
